Following several excellent reviews, and after a day playing at Orcy, nearby, I decided to give this restaurant a try.
I think rating this Excellent is very optimistic.
This is one of these places that lived on its location next to the bus station at Santiago do Cacem. We all now these have had its glory days so they turned the place around and became a decent restaurant.
The food is well cooked, the place is clean and overall ambiance. Staff is.. just staff. Having eaten a proper meal, I can hardly say there is really something to remember.
It is one of this places you go, you have your meal and that's it. You can always come back and you will now that you will eat proper food. But it won't make you go that extra mile to get "that" meal.

Happened upon this cute, out of the way restaurant, and it was great! The owner/cook was very helpful even thoug our Portugese is minima. I had the squid kabobs, my wife had fried pork with clams and my daughter had an octopus entree. All were very well done. Real Portugese home cooking. Dessert was also good. Price was very reasonable considering the quality and size of the meals. Definately worth stopping here if you are in the area.

Paramos lá as 19h, a parte de Restaurante ainda não estava a trabalhar (nem sei se esteve) e para petiscar, que era a nossa intenção, tinha apenas caracois ou camarão cozido, uma oferta demasiado limitada, nós por exemplo não goatamos de caracois, mas é de salientar que os camarões eram excelentes. Pergunta-mos se tinham um pouco de presunto e queijo, lá arranjaram, o queijo veio um queijinho, mas o presunto eendo para petiscar veio apenas 5 fatias enrolados, em que eramos 3 pessoas. No entanto o preço esteve a condizer com o que comemos.

Hearty meals at affordable prices. Don't expect to much from the service. They serve simple good food so if your looking for a posh plating and fine service try somewhere else. We had the grilled rabbit and it was really tasty. Portions are above average. The service was a tad slow but understandable as the place was packed. Lot of people around us order the seafood rice, the portions were humongous and they seemed to be enjoying it. The only advise I would give is that you keep an eye out for the place as it's not very visible from the road(it's right next to a gas station)

Foi difícil de encontrar, dado que os GPS estava constantemente a enviarnos para São Bartolomeu da Serra a 12 Km de Santiago do Cacém. Quando liguei disseram-me que não era caso único. A insistência foi compensada por uma excelente refeição a muito bom preço.
Deixo as coordenadas GPS do Restaurante que fica no Centro de Santiago do Cacém na rua ao lado dos CTT junto ao parque da cidade.

Bons grelhados e bom Vinho da casa. Preço médio da refeição 10€/pessoa.
Definitivamente a regressar.

We visited this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend. She said that a friend of hers said it was the best restaurant in Portugal. She is probably right. The food was delicious but best was the way that the waiter Jose guided us around the menu so we picked food we would not have done without his help. Wonderful.

Very good food and very good ratio of employees per table. We had live acoustic music during our meal which was great. The prices are very reasonable when comparing with restaurants with the same quality, about 15€ per person but we paid less. Around the restaurant you have parking spaces.

Well this is a nice rest but we didn't know that it was necessary to order in advance Leitao! So we went there and there were no Leitao! And it was a Leitao day because it was tuesday! We order other dishes for example "Choco frito" but it was very salty! Maybe next time!
