Situated 130 kilometres (81 mi) north of Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka and 95 kilometres (59 mi) north of Negombo. Puttalam is known for energy production, salt, coconut production and fishing. It has one of the largest lagoons in the country. Puttalam is popularly known for kind and hospitality people. For me it is an unforgettable experience! This is the second time my wife and me were traveling across Sri Lanka and we really love it.
A good and polite staff welcomed us and proposed the menu, very well described on previous feedbacks. Strange thing is that despite a decent level of English, a waitor provided us a bill that was way much higher than we expected.
For example, to our common surprise we reveal that a regular black tea, presented in the menu at 200 rupees, actually costs 800. There are several positions in the bill, which were not ordered by any of us. What is really unexpected is that the total amount doesn't correspond of the sum of each individual position. How come that happen?

Ценник в этом ресторане самый высокий в этой округе возле отеля,в котором мы отдыхали Club Palm Bay.Например,если сравнивать с О2 или Leo,то цена выше в 2-3 раза,а порции вполовину меньше.
Сама территория ресторана неплохая.Ресторан находится через дорогу от океана.
Но больше в него не ходили,так как за те 200 дол,что вышло у нас по счету на 4 человека,то можно 2-3 раза сходить в другой ресторан с лучшей кухней и большими порциями.
Был у меня еще один неприятный момент с рестораном Tao...Проходили мы мимо этого ресторана..День...Жара..Думаю,закажу фреш.А у них при входе окошечко есть и в то окошечко я голову засунул и попросил меню.Заказал фреш за 300 рупий.Это примерно 2 дол. Ну и дальше уже с улицы смотрю ,как толстяк под 150 кило весом мне фреш бадяжит...Толстяк кинул в блендер папайю,гуаву,оранж,а потом подходит к обычному крану с водой и набирает оттуда воду...Я просто офигел когда это увидел.На Шри-Ланке даже зубы не рекомендуют чистить водой из под крана,а он мне в фреш долил.Ругаться за 2 доллара я не стал с ним.Вылил фреш на дорогу рядом с рестораном и вернул стакан толстому...
Так что,если закажете фреш в Тао,то имейте ввиду,что вместе с фруктами вы употребляете ланкийскую воду из под крана,которой даже зубы не чистят.
А ты толстый из Тао ресторана ,а я уверен,что ты прочитаешь мой отзыв,так как по-русски понимаешь,то знай,что я внимательно следил,как ты готовишь фреш и советую тебе не делать из туристов дураков.

We were driving across country from Trico then down to Colombo. We stopped for gas and asked if there were any restaurants near. Someone was listening and told us to follow his tuk tuk. He took us to his brothers cafe and what a find.
We had three large plates of local food, three juices, tea, two coffees for a little over 7 UKPounds
Good tip - if you see locals in a restaurant it is probably good. If no one there, then its either the wrong time of day, or rubbish.
TA will not allow me to go back and add, so the postal code is 61300 and it is second right towards the sea and first left. Better ask someone to guide you.

Arrive without a booking which wasn't the problem as they had space. Very nice staff, water served, friendly conversation, nice surroundings. 1 other family already seated, ordered dinner (a couple of staters and mains for the adults and mains (pasta based) for the kids. 40mins later the starters arrived (to be fair the waiter did tell us it would be 30mins). Then 40 mins later the mains arrived. So the kids had to wait over an hour for their pasta with cheese and spaghetti bolognese. Incredibly expensive, which I don't mind paying, if it was great. But it wasn't, and the wait made it even worse. If you want to eat there and you're not staying in the hotel its best to pre-order (which I gather all the rest of the diners did), then you should be fine.

Getting there was a bit of a nightmare because we seemed to have taken the least car-friendly route but that was Google Maps being unhelpful and nothing at all to do with the cafe, which was fantastic. As we lazed there for some time, we had two types of pasta and a pizza, two types of coffee, a milkshake and a newly concocted drink. Everything was very tasty, portions were generous and nothing took too long. The cafe is simple but comfortable.

We went to Bao Bab lagoon lodge throug a longer tour, for One Night.
The room is large with a bed and a fan - an outdoor, but nice toilet. You are placed in beautiful surroundings with the locals. You Will eat fresh fish , which is catch in the morning. The trips we went on were the most exciting of the entire stay. We went to local Islands, saw dolphins and bird safari.
At the evening the host made a bonfire, where we had our late meal.
The host is so kind and speak good english. He gives very good service and makes you feel very welcome!
It is definitly worth a visit if you want the local exspirience of af fishingtown in Sri Lanka.

I happened to visit Puttalam, north west province of Sri Lanka recently and as recommend by our local associates, had our lunch at Siebels Family gate restaurant which is specialized in Chinese cuisine and the food did not disappoint us at all. In fact i never expected the Chinese dishes would be deliciously made at a small restaurant in the interior place like Karikattiya !!! Owner Siebel himself suggested to try few dishes like prawns fry, cattle fish, kankun with garlic, egg fried rice and we liked all the dishes. Truly memorable experience.

This recently opened restaurant at Nuraicholai on Kalpitiya road serves good and authentic Sri Lankan cuisine and i recommend the Trip Advisor community to try their lunch and its worth for money. They have added pizza counter which is usually opened in the evening hours. So be at Sun Set safari for your meals and enjoy the same,

I was actually there for a party with my Friends. It wasn't a private party, so many of us were on our own. And it was about to get over and I was looking for something to eat, the staff with a great importance they worked on fulfilling my need (hunger) I greatly would like to mention the Lady Chef (Dharshika as I remember) she is a Wonderful person who really wants to serve the best to the client. Special Cheer for Her.
And The place was lovely, love the setup at the lobby with a Piano. Very comfortable place. Wish if could leave a voice review as there's more to say
