This fast food place is in my hometown. I have bought burgers here for many years, although I liked it better before it changed its exterior and moved down the street, it still serves one of the best cheeseburgers with bacon I have eaten. Also the baguettes can be recommended and the milkShake.

Stopped here for lunch on a rainy day. The place was almost empty in the afternoon so the service was fast and the food was quite tasteful. Nice outdoor Seating area overlooking Volda harbor. Should be a popular place to enjoy a cold beer when the sun is out.

I have always liked this old and traditional hotel. I have been there many times but never had lunch in their restaurant.
We came to the hotel around 12noon and was told they don't open for lunch before 13:00 but they would open for us at 12:30. We spent the wait sitting in the garden taking in the sublime view.
The restaurant served a set 2 course lunch consisting of salmon with new potatoes and panna cotta for desert served with coffee. The food was really good even tho I had expected more traditional Norwegian fare on the menu.
The service was very charming. The 2 waitresses was very professional and efficient.
We had our coffee in one of the lounges.
I would love to come back and stay for a weekend.
This place is magical and I hope they manage to maintain the feeling of the place even tho they have done some refurbishments to the hotel.

Urke Kaihus

Urke kaihus is a cafe where you can enjoy the view in beautiful Sorroundings of the most amazing Fjord in Norway. Here you can sit outside and enjoy while eating home made waffles, chocolate and cake. Or maybe have a ice cold beer.

Reviewed By Arianne1985 - Melrose, United Kingdom

Urke is beautiful. The Kaihus on the waterfront is beautiful. And this arm of the Hjorundfjorden that it nestles beside at the foot of the Sunnmore Alps is beautiful too. Catch it while you can - before the world of large-scale tourism arrives and stamps its mark on the landscape, the people and the little businesses like this that combine to create a unique experience for the small number of folk that have so far discovered it.
Urke Kaihus offers you hot drinks, beers, soft drinks and a small selection of tempting cakes, buns and waffles - the carrot cake is delicious. If it's chilly you can sit inside on their sofas and enjoy Dean Martin era music softly playing in the background. It's got an easy, informal atmosphere and is lit by candles. If it's sunny then they have plenty of outside Seating where you can sit and stare in awe at the gorgeous scenery - the steeply wooded Mountains that rise up out of the fjord, the glistening water and the little boats that occasionally leave the jetty.
These guys take cash or cards. English is a bit hit and miss but it doesn't matter as you get by and somehow it works. If you're arriving by car then just take the turning from the 655 main road through the village - they have a little sign to direct you down and there's plenty of free parking. The toilets are spotless, smell super fresh and are there for everyone to use (outside door at the back of the building gets you access). So if you're passing through on the 655 heading to or from the ferry at Leknes then it's worth stopping off.
Prices? It's Norway so need I say any more! Best to forget converting it back into your local currency and just enjoy the experience.
Finally, there's a little community grocery store in Urke owned and operated by the people that live here. They did this to stop it closing down so, if you're in the area, pop in and spend a few NOK - they'll appreciate it!
Overall verdict? Different, unique and beautiful. A million miles away from the city, the rush and the stress of 21st century life in Oslo, Copenhagen, Berlin, Paris, London or New York - quite a contrast then. Enjoy!

Maria's has a cosy and friendly atmosphere, reflecting the owner Maria herself. The food is excellent and reasonably priced with portion sizes designed to make you explode. As I usually do because the food is too delicious to push away when you're full. The steaks almost melt in your mouth. My only wish is that it wasn't a 'dry' restaurant but understand that it is to encourage a family friendly atmosphere so fair enough :) In the summer there is a small Seating area outside that is out of the wind and catches the sun where you can smoke. I love this place.

Fru Svendsen Kunst Og Kulturkafe

Reviewed By Arianne1985 - Melrose, United Kingdom

We stumbled across Fru Svendsen's Kulturekafe by accident since the other TripAdvisor listings were shut and we needed lunch. It was a big hit for us! There's lots to like but what sticks most with us is the lovely atmosphere - this is clearly the place local Norwegians of Orsta visit when they want to spend time with their friends and enjoy a coffee, cake or waffles. Folk come in, greet acquaintances and settle down for a chat - very civilised, very sweet, very informal and very Norwegian!
The café sits along the traffic free main street in Orsta in an elevated position. There are a couple of tables outside and then at least three rooms inside, each with a slightly different feel. This place was Fru Svendsen's family home some time in the past and the owners have maintained the homely atmosphere by keeping a mid-20th century feel to the place and late-Victorian décor. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you - the staff were excellent, properly trained and speak lovely English. They take cards and cash.
There are some light lunch options, including omelettes and lots of cakes. Prices are typically Norwegian and, by their standards, the cost was mainstream. The washroom is through a maze of doors in the house and off the hallway by the stairs. It's all very authentic, clean and quaint.
We enjoyed our stay very much. It felt a million miles from the tourist traps of other more picturesque towns and, in some ways, better for it. My only sadness is that the planning authorities of this town have granted permission for three covered shopping malls. One, by the waterfront, has clearly had the effect of drawing almost all of the retail outlets and footfall away from the main street. While this doesn't affect the wonderful experience of this café, it does leave the street outside looking like a bit like the Marie Celeste.
Anyway, thanks to the team at Fru Svendsen - we enjoyed our time with you.
Recommended.
