We were recommended Sutor Creek by our accommodation hosts. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and the pizzas we ordered were really good. We couldn't finish them but were able to take them away for lunch the next day! The staff, especially the young man serving, were all very friendly. We'd highly recommend eating here.

First visit since new owners took over and very disappointed. Soup clearly made from a mix not from fresh ingredients, cheese scone had sugar in it(?????) and the selection of cakes gone from hero to zero!!!!
Nothing like it used to be and when the chef appeared from the kitchen wearing disgusting jeans & tshirt to sort out a wrong order that capped it.
Sorry ,used to be a regular stop of ours but not any more.

The Storehouse

Scottish restaurant serving fantastic breakfasts, snacks, lunches, cakes, teas and coffees in a relaxed atmosphere on the edge of The Cromarty Firth.

After touring Balblair Distillery, we stopped at this restaurant to enjoy some Scottish food. They have cafeteria style eating--find your own seat, line up for your meal, etc. The food was excellent. Excellent.
We ordered some sort of venison? It was delicious. A few weeks ago, we saw The Storehouse on Delicious Destinations featuring a dessert they are apparently famous for. Unfortunately, my husband doesn't eat dessert, and I was full from the beer, whiskey tasting, and the venison, so we didn't try it, but now I wish I would have. So, if you go, order the fruit and cream dessert. It looked delicious.
If you can get a seat by the window, you'll have a great view of some Highland vistas. We were lucky enough to score a window seat, and we kicked back for an hour and enjoyed our meal.

Made a poor choice going there today as havent been in a while and the Breakfast is usually quite good but today It was terrible, Obviously the food was taken straight from a Bay Marie and the only thing freshly cooked was the Fried Egg, Tomato was inedible. all topped of with Cheap nasty sachets of Tomato Sauce. Sorry but after having first used Skiach for nearly twenty years will be giving it a miss on our journeies back and forth to Inverness

Bengal Cuisine

Visited for Sunday evening buffet. Most starters and main courses (even rice) was tepid at best. Given many of the dishes are chicken based this raises health concerns. Not impressed. Tikka chicken for starter was cold to the touch. Starter issue was addressed when I complained and they went to the kitchen and returned with hot food. I sampled five different main courses and they were all lukewarm. By this time I had lost my appetite so didn't complain further until the end of the meal. I didn't fancy having my plate whisked off to the microwave in any case. No apology or offer to reduce bill after further complaint. Certainly gone downhill compared to previous visits. Won't be back any time soon.

Crofter's Bistro Open Again 7th March

Reviewed By Allan R

Came here in March 17, returned November 17. If at all possible, it was even better.
Alistair, as a host , is fantastic. So knowledgeable about the area, the local produce , the beers and wines. Where possible, always has a good variety of Scottish ales, and spirits to try.
This is a small bistro, but has a big heart , and you should not miss out if you are in the area.
First class !!

Called in there before a short walk down to the harbour. We had very nice toasties and paninis, staff were efficient enough without appearing particularly friendly, I suspect they're employed for their looks rather than personality! This café only takes cash which we didn't find a problem (who needs to pay £7:80 on a credit card anyway?) and there's a small range of gifts

Tuckers Inn

I saw the Tucker Inn from our cruise ship, and looking close to the ship we found very few pubs. This is a restaurant, not a typical Scottish pub, but any port in a storm. We had some very good ales. The staff was friendly, but they obviously catered to the restaurant clients. The food we saw being served looked very good and we wished we had the time to stay and have dinner.

The Purple Turtle

Reviewed By rduvin - Alness, Scotland, United Kingdom

Thanks service is personal and attentive. The food, invariably excellent, is prepared by the owner who also bakes. He therefore takes pride and responsibility for every aspect of the establishment. The premises may not be big, but this does not detract from the quality of the offering. Purple Turtle is a haven in the cold, wet and dark Scottish winter.
