It truly does live up to those stunning social media images

Reviewed By SRyanNJ

We are leaving the resort today after a week’s vacation (5/28-6/4). It has been a long time since I’ve been somewhere where I do NOT want to leave and would do anything for another few days! Let me start by saying this is our first ever vacation where we decided to do nothing - just signed up for “full relaxation”. We usually are “on the go - see and do everything “ type of vacation people. So booking a week at a beach resort was a big gamble for us. Would we be bored? Would it not live up to the hype? What would the food be like (we are total foodies). Well it has been THE BEST vacation and we haven’t left the resort in the entire week. The social media images you see (and what enticed us to book our stay here way back in January in the depths of a miserably cold and snowy winter) - yes they are all true and then some! It really is that stunning. Our villa was gorgeous. We we stayed in the one-bedroom luxury villa #702. Breathtaking views of the pitons and the water. The pool and outdoor patio area is stunning and the villa is very spacious and well equipped. There is a 24/7 shuttle service to get you around the resort (it’s very steep and the villas are a fair way from the beach and restaurants) which is easily accessible by the custom cell phone you are given on arrival. Super convenient and easy. The food has been the best surprise though. Good variety of dining styles and options, regular ala carte and also a few specialty buffet nights in the beachside restaurants. We are not buffet people but the couple we did try were excellent. Have to confess though, we fell in love with ordering mojitos and food on the beach each day while relaxing on the chaise lounges under the huge umbrellas. It was our daily slice of heaven Finally a HUGE shout out to the staff! Everyone- and I mean everyone- is so incredibly friendly, welcoming and professional. The staff can’t do enough for you to ensure your vacation is perfect. They made the trip that much more special! They truly are fantastic So - if you’re on the fence about Sugar Beach - we can not recommend it highly enough. We will definitely be coming back again. Sure it’s not cheap - but it’s so worth it.

Nestled in the sheltered bay of Bonaire Estate, Calabash Cove Resort & Spa is one of just a select few full-service, boutique luxury resorts in St. Lucia, perched on a hillside sloping gently towards the Caribbean Sea, where cool ocean breezes provide a wonderful respite and the turquoise sea is offset by the vibrant green of tropical vegetation and views of Walcott Island. The resort has been designed with great care to complement and exist in harmony with the beauty of the natural surroundings. The natural elements of earth, wind, light and water are represented in the exotic wood, stone and natural materials used in the composition of the buildings. So after a 2 hour journey from the airport we arrived at the Royalton. All looked good and we were exhausted after a long journey but we had to get in quite a big queue to get our room details, when we reached reception we were told we had to pay 200USD as a holding fee for any damage and 168USD visitors tax, we were never told about the 200USD holding fee and was told the visiting tax would be a couple of dollars a day! When getting to the room which was quite a walk away we were pleasantly surprised, it was very large, 2 big beds and a whirlpool bath, nice balcony and quite nice views and a lovely shower. But the following days things were not so good. Every day various spirits were unavailable, when speaking to our rep we were assured the issue would be resolved, it never was and became very frustrating. In the room we were supplied with a coffee percolator which was lovely but you need a plug adapter to work it, I went to reception 3 days running to get the adapter, the 3rd day it arrived. We were locked out of our room for 3 days, having to keep walking g back to reception to report it. After 3 days it was resolved. The down escalator was not working on arrival and was still not working on departure, we were able to walk up and down it while not working which was quite dangerous. On both the up and down escalators the hand rail was totally worn off. The long pool close to the beach was dirty and had tiles missing which you could easily have cut your feet on. The 5 restaurants you didn't have to book for apart from one but we were hardly ever able to walk in and sit down as there was 6 of us, it seems larger than 4 people are not catered for unless you eat early. On a plus note, the food was nice, quite a good selection, 99.9% of staff were lovely, especially Kim in the Mexican and Rodney in the Steak House. The rooms are cleaned daily, altho sometimes you would get 2 towels the next 4 so a bit weird. The beds are really comfortable and the air con is good, altho don't leave it off as the room gets damp. We felt the location was quite isolated, there was no where to walk to, no bars or other restaurants so if you like a walk out this is not the place for you. Some people may think my comments are trivial but we saved hard for this very expensive holiday, over £4000 for 2 of us, we were quite disappointed with the hotel. Definitely not 5☆ as advertised.

Superb holiday in a great hotel.

The hotel itself is just beautiful; for me just the right size. Not too big so that it’s catering for the masses but big enough so that a nice atmosphere is created and every individual is looked after and made to feel special. We had a beautiful King Double room with a large balcony that was completely private and could only be viewed upon from the waterways of the Marina. It was very modern and had everything that you could need (iron and ironing board, safe, tea and coffee making facilities, fridge, large flat screen tv and an en-suite bathroom including a beautiful walk in shower). There are other options for rooms, many with balconies that overlook the pool area and have views across the Marina and also some swim up rooms. The hotel itself is located in Rodney Bay which has many good restaurants and bars close by, which was part of the reason that we decided not to go all inclusive. This suited us as we were staying for 2 weeks and wished to sample the variety that’s available close by. Having said that, the food available at the hotel is very good (but the menu was a little limited if eating there every day for two weeks), if staying for a week then going ‘All Inclusive’ would possibly be a good option. This would then also give you full access to sample the fabulous cocktails that are available throughout the day served up by the very knowledgeable, hardworking and charismatic duo of Ronnie and Lex. These guys know their stuff and are the heartbeat of the poolside bar. As lovely as the hotel is, it’s the wonderful staff that take it from a good hotel to a great one. We’ve never been made to feel more welcome anywhere else in the world. From our very first minutes in the hotel, we were met by the reception staff who wanted to get us checked in as quickly as possible; as soon as they became aware of the long hot, arduous journey we’d just endured, we were invited to sit down and relax and to refresh ourselves with some complementary drinks before completing the necessary paperwork. I’d love to give all the staff who enhanced our holiday a mention but there are far too many to name; thank you all! There is only one slight negative and that is the evening entertainment, but that could be down to personal taste really. We really did enjoy the local Reggae bands and also local DJ HP, however some of the other acts weren’t to our taste. To summarise; would we return ? - Yes. Would we be happy to recommend ? - Yes

Not worth your hard earned money or you precious time

Please take my review into serious consideration. Spend a little more money and book somewhere else. The pictures I posted should be enough for you to decide on whether this is a place for you or not. The condition of this resort has changed my perception of resorts for the rest of my life. I will never stay at a resort again. The front desk staff has a lengthy check in process which would have been smoother if they were more welcoming and more polite. We barely got a hello from the only worker that was behind the desk when we arrived. No refreshments served to us upon arrival. I felt as if I was intruding on this property. My family’s rooms were spread out and it was a concern when traveling with family especially my elderly mother in law and my 25 year old daughter who was harassed by the bell boy. She slept with a chair propped against the door every night. I felt great concern and kept watch while we were there. My mother in laws room key didn’t work for 4 days and it was not rectified by any of the managers until I shouted out of frustration and disappointment. We had asked everyday for a key, but our voices fell on deaf ears. One day as I was waiting to ask about her key, I noticed a family arriving and they were greeted with refreshments and two workers ready to help. Nothing like what we had. Everyone should have the same treatment upon arriving to a resort for vacation. I’m normally not this way. I work in a hospital and the first and most important part of my job is to make people feel important and safe. I did not have that experience at the Mystic. I had the exact opposite. Trip advisor also changed our meal plan which led to another issue. My rooms air conditioning unit was not working when we arrived but was fixed right away. The vents are dirty and moldy. I didn’t get into the pool because it was filthy. The restaurant and bartender were the only employees who were welcoming and friendly. They should be given a raise because they are not paid well enough in my eyes. The food presentation and selection could be better. Overall, my visit at the Mystic ruined part of my vacation and experience in St Lucia. It was very disappointing because we looked forward to this trip since Covid started. Good luck if you decide to stay with Mystic.

Really nice relaxing week

Reviewed By Lizzylazyway

We stayed here for one week in early May and our first holiday in nearly 3 years. We were upgraded to a suite which was absolutely huge and such a nice touch. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food was very good, nice to eat at the Naked Fisherman although the 92 steps down and back up was a bit off putting. We understand that in September they are doing some refurbishment and this will make quite a difference as although everything was spotless it was a little tired. Having said that we would recommend going there and certainly really enjoyed our holiday.

If your are service professionals, like ourselves, and you go on a holiday, you want to receive service on the same par, or even higher. We where visiting our family on the island. I visit Saint Lucia sinds the 1980’S, and this is the first time we have a stay here. We needed a second home to that of our family on the island. Villa Beach Cottages was near, and had a perfect price to quality ratio. After meticulous studies online, we found our second home on Saint Lucia. A few previous guest, that expected a extreme high level of service, had unrealistic expectations. They do not understand that, other cultures give hospitality in a different way. Villa Beach Cottages is a diamond, with a few rough edges. Nothing is perfect, and yes, their are a few minor details that could be designated as flawed. But one thing brings all of that together: Genuine service from the hart, through a smile. And believe me, that is the unique selling point of the Villa Beach Cottages. Their are other Resorts with more perfection and less smiles. And they charge 3 times the price of this hidden gem. My pictures are the proof. Thank you so much for a unforgettable vacation. Anse Chastanet

Tranquility, Romance, Adventure: What were Caribbean hotels like when you sat watching the sunset instead of cable TV? You can still find that Classic Caribbean at Anse Chastanet on St. Lucia’s quiet southwestern coast where two magical peaks, the Pitons, leap from the sea and the mountains are covered with luminous greenery.Architect owner Nick Troubetzkoy believes passionately in nature. So he created a hotel that makes the foliage and the flowers, the perfumes and the peaks, the sea and the bird song an integral part of your vacation experience. The estate encompasses 600 lush tropical acres bordering two soft sand beaches. The resort’s two crystal-clear bays are part of a designated marine reserve protecting miles of colorful coral reefs teeming with tropical fish. With such a unique setting as his canvas, Nick Troubetzkoy was inspired to design a one -of-a-kind resort. A dozen rooms are tucked in behind the coconut palms that line the beach and the remainder tip toe up a flower decked hillside, taking advantage of the captivating scenery all around. Anse Chastanet’s ever growing art collection provides a visual feast of its own. There are impressive wooden sculptures and plaques, earthy burlap compositions, painted “sky ceilings” and vibrant acrylic paintings invoking memories of Matisse and Picasso. And while the sensuous seclusion of the rooms provides some guests with the perfect excuse for lolling away the day on the balcony, others head out to partake in the many activities on offer; yoga, snorkeling, scuba diving, tennis, sunset sailing, sea kayaking or jungle biking, hiking and bird-watching among the ruins of an 18th century colonial plantation.

My boyfriend and I were staying at Anse for our 11 year anniversary and I have to say the highlights for us were the incredibly friendly staff, the snorkeling and we particularly loved spending our days at Anse Mamin Beach! The entire staff was so lovely and really took the time to interact with us and provide a wonderful experience! The food overall at Anse was an 8/10 with breakfast being a steadfast winner along with the burger over at Anse Mamin beach! If you are looking for a truly incredible culinary experience head up to Jade Mountian for dinner! We did the AI plan at Anse and the surcharge was WELL worth the quality of food and level of service you will experience! So good that we went twice because it was genuinely that fabulous! While at the property we explored the nearby sulfur springs, and botanical garden. We also did a chocolate sensory experience which was both fun and educational! The staff conducting the Chocolate experience at Jade Mountian were incredible and their hard work is such an incredible form of art! Lastly, we did a sunset sail on the Suzie Q one evening of our stay. Captian Kerwin and Thaddeus made our trip so lovely! Being a sailor myself, being on the water was immaculate and the boat was extremely comfortable! I cannot express how kind Kerwin and Thaddeus were and they showed us true St. Lucian hospitality! We had such a lovely time I wish we would have booked another sail and we absolutely would have had we stayed longer! 10/10 get out on the water if you're visiting! I would absolutely recommend the fast track at the airport if you are driving from UVF to the resort it's absolutely worth it! Had we done anything differently it would have been booking at least 1-2 days at Jade Mountian for the FULL experience. Other than that we had a lovely stay and hope to return in years to come! Thank you to the entire staff for such an amazing stay! Jenna & Jesse (JJ)
