An unforgettable stay

Reviewed By meadylou

There simply aren't enough words to describe how perfect our stay with Jeeves and Shervonne was. We spent 2 nights here during our honeymoon and wish we could have stayed longer! The setting is absolutely stunning - we stayed in the treehouse, which we would wholly recommend for a truly unique experience. Waking up in the treetops with views over the lake was just magical - and yet you still have all the comforts you need (including a very comfortable bed). We loved enjoying a cold beer on our balcony, or in the organic swimming pool after a hot day on safari. The food is incredible - so fresh and authentic, without doubt the best food we had during our whole trip. No two meals were ever the same! We really appreciated Jeeves taking the time to explain the different dishes to us, and how to eat them. But what made our stay really unforgettable is the warmth and hospitality of our hosts and the whole Ibis team. Shervonne was so helpful in the run up to our trip, giving us lots of tips and advice. She arranged a safari jeep and naturalist for us to visit Wilpattu national park. We were lucky enough to see 4 leopards, as well as elephants, buffalo, deer, and many other birds and wildlife. We have heard really mixed reviews about some of the other national parks in Sri Lanka so we were really glad we made the decision to come to Wilpattu. And Jeeves was the most gracious host, taking excellent care of us throughout our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our conversations - and it was such a happy surprise to see you both again in Galle! Finally, we loved the whole ethos at the Ibis - employing people from the local village, and investing profits back into the community as much as possible. The Ibis Wilpattu was one of the highlights of our trip and we will definitely be back one day. If you are considering this place, just book it - you will not regret it!

We spent 4 relaxing days in a beautiful standalone cabana. Dolphin watching or snorcheling tours available on the spot. The beach restaurant was the best we've met on our Sri Lanka trip (tasty, large choice, portions). Super friendly staff.

Basic hut accomodation, unclear communication, rather pricey

Reviewed By Kyle H

We stayed at Kite Beach Villa in January. The huts are of a decent size, however, they are rather basic and in our case a bit dusty. If you are in Kalpitiya for Kite Surfing beware that you have to take a tuc-tuc to the good spots every time as the location is not optimal. We would have given 4 stars but due to unclear communication on the side of the owner, we ended up paying considerably more than agreed upon. We also didn't get a receipt for our stay, a first during our entire time in Sri Lanka.

The Villa Kalpitiya

A great serene Villa

Reviewed By Rovinovic

A+ villa to spend your vacation near the calm lagoon. The Villa is super cool and the location next to the lagoon is beautiful. There's a nice pool, a BBQ is there, caretaker will cook the food for you and she is very friendly. The rooms and the washrooms are also clean. The owners are friendly as well snd you can request them if there are any additional requirements. The prices are also fair and reasonable. Highly recommend.

Captain's Lake Safari Lodge

Great place for bird photography

Reviewed By Evarts123

We stayed here 2 nights. The Nawadamkulam lake is completely dry as a result there are only a few wetland birds but in the garden of the guesthouse there are many birds that are active throughout the day. You need to turn off on the Chilaw Puttalam road to get here and from the turn off its 4km. The guesthouse is on your right. There is no board but it is a black gate with a green post. The place offers free WiFi, you don't need hot water as the shower water is warm. Don't expect high pressure water from the shower or taps as water is pumped from a tank. The room is really big and spacious. There is no A/C and only a fan but if you open the windows there is cool air so you won't need an A/C. There is a caretaker who also cooks meals based on your requirement.

Wild Wadi Wilpattu

The best hidden gem!

Reviewed By U7694XLgraceg

We love Wild Wadi. It was the best place we stayed during our 1 month trip in Sri Lanka. The rooms are amazing, clean, spacious, bright and modern. The view from the bathroom and bedroom are straight wilderness - we saw lots of monkeys! The food was incredible. So fresh - many ingredients were from the garden or immediate areas and we could taste that in the food! We are vegan and they were hugely accommodating. Everyday we were offered new typical Sri Lankan foods to try. The hosts Manori and Shanka became our friends - they are just genuinely lovely people who love Wilpattu, Sri Lanka and want to share the place with their guests. They organised a sunset river cruise for us - we saw so many birds and monkeys. Manori also drove us around the local villages, the naturalist accompanied and had such a great eye. He also came on our safari and spotted a well- hidden leopard! We cannot recommend this place enough!! We hope to come back again soon.

Mangala Lodge

Hidden treasure

Reviewed By curiouspersonLondon

A great find up a quiet side-street with garden & large shaded terrace. Above all the owner, Mr Mangala, is incredibly warm, always cheerful while running the place solo. He cooks brilliantly so don’t miss out on the dinner & breakfast. The backdrop is his grandfathers amazing antique collection. Room was spacious, clean, comfortable bed, with fan & fridge . A/c also available. Perfect stop inland from Negombo on way to cultural triangle
