Built 50 years ago, and once used as residence by the local people in Yasaka, Kyoto, this hotel inherited that history and renovated the building for a new start. 【ROOMS 】RC HOTEL KYOTO YASAKA offers guest rooms with three themes "Green," "Folk Handicraft," and "Art." 【BAR】 The bar is located right next to the Reception Desk. We have various kinds of local Kyoto beer and sake. Please relax at the end of the day. 【ACCESS】 From Kyoto Station, Take bus 202, 206, 207, or 100. Get off at the “Kiyomizu Michi” stop. Enter the street named “Yasaka-Dori” to the east, after 200 meters beyond the Yasaka Pagoda (Hoganji Temple); the hotel is on your right.

It's a bit weird that they don't change the sheets (we were there for three days) but then again, I don't need clean sheets every day when I am at home! Really nice products in the bathroom. Great area, but very very quiet at night.

Reviewed By aiclipideExcellent location in the town near the Togetsu-kyo bridge. Nice views. Small but comfortable western style room. Typical Japanese breakfast. Staff did not speak English but they used a real-time translation service by phone. In Arashiyama, we enjoyed the old railroad ride next to the Hozugawa river, that goes to the start of the exciting river boat ride. We enjoyed walking trails along the river and up to the garden and Tenryu-ji temple. We were there at the end of November and enjoyed the peak foliage.

Re-opened under new management on March.25.2017; the new look Hotel Seiki Kyoto Station is perfect for solo travelers and couples. The multi-national and multi-lingual staff of new management company GHI (Global Hospitality Inc.) are there to help you with any questions you may have. Located within walking distance of JR Kyoto station and Avanti Shopping Mall, there is easy access to everything you could possibly need during your stay. Hotel Seiki is just a short train ride from the world heritage listed Fushimi Inari. However, it also located just 10 to 15 minutes from several lesser known attractions such as Nishi Hongan-ji; Tofuku-ji; Sanjusan-gendo; Toji Temple; JR Railway Museum;and Kyoto National Museum. The perfect location for those who wish to avoid the typical tourist itintary.

Reviewed By Phương Anh NThe hostel has such a convenient location that is close to both Kyoto University of foreign studies (Where I participated in a Tourism project) and the downtown - shopping area. I felt like it took me only 15-20 minutes to walk straight to the center. The hosts were pretty nice! But I didn't like the fact that they restricted the bath time. Another mini hiccup was that the hallway and water in the toilet were just freezing! Brrrrgh

Low End Ryokan
Reviewed By LaMalaiseThis ryokan is basic, and has lots of rules! The Goods: - Short walk from Kyoto Station's north entrance (the side with the bus terminal) - almost a straight shot! - Behind major shopping and near tourist locations (Kyoto Tower, Higashi Honganji Temple, etc.). - Near a grocery store (for those budget-minded -- the store is to the west - don't remember the exact location). - Has an onsen (public bath), self-serve laundry, and drink vending machine. - In-room toilet, shower, sink. - Moderately friendly staff (I got the impression an older family runs it.) The Bad: - The rules. Doors are locked at 11 PM. Guess I can't go listen to jazz at a bar and come back at 1 AM... Kind of killed my tourist evenings. And DON'T put your shoes in the wrong place! - The onsen (at least men's side) is tiny. Two small people, or one mid-size person. And forget late night relaxing: closes at 10 PM. (Dashing back to make the 11 PM ryokan closing then soaking isn't going to work. You're too late.) - The room was sparse (not unusual for a ryokan), but unusually so. Kind of basic, with the obligatory wall picture (old, faded), a table, a TV, an in-room safe, and that's about it. - Hot water was provided for tea in a thermos. By the time I got around to making tea, it was tepid. - I would have appreciated an offer of laundry service, but it's do-it-yourself only. The Ugly: - Mosquitoes! Lifted the toilet lid to be greeted by at least a dozen mosquitoes! At least I had the presence of mind to close the door fast to keep them in the WC! On the bright side, it gave me something to do (kill them) when doing my morning bowel purge. - While generally clean, the room had a tiny bit of mold and mildew (or their stains) creeping in (shower ceiling, grout, etc.). The place needed a good scrub. Good to know: - If you arrive early, they'll store your bag in the hall until your room is ready. Then they'll put it in the room. - The pillows and futon were thinner than most. Ask for two or three pillows if you are a medium to thick pillow person. I used two futons stacked on one another. In summary, I'll stay somewhere else next time.

Reviewed By shanghai7520親切なオーナーには本当に感謝しかありません。このホテルは過度なサービスが無いので泊まりやすく良かったです。最寄りの熊野若王子神社に用がありましたが、至近距離で実に便利なホテルでした。お風呂・キツチンは清潔で綺麗でした。ただ、テレビﾞが客室に無いので携帯ラジオを予め持参してたのも良かったです。徒歩数分でスーパー・フレスコ真向かいにダツクス浄土寺店 さらに数分でファミリーマート店と揃ってます。私は、朝夕二食分の弁当をフレスコで購入して連泊しました。京都左京区滞在には「便利」で「安く」「泊まりやすい」良いホテルですまた、泊まりたいと思っています。

They even taught us Japanese calligraphy. The new refurb is lovely and rooms are very comfortable. Looking forward to staying again.

If you are looking for a place where the location is the most important factor, then this is one of the best decisions you could possibly make in order to make the most of your trip in Kyoto!!! It’s only 3 minutes walk to Keihan Gion-Shijo station & Gion downtown area. The hotel is located in a neighborhood full of cultural and historical Kyoto atmosphere, not to mention the extremely easy access

Reviewed By Annemarie YWe chose this hotel for the location, and because the photos looked appealing. BUT the photos are highly misleading. They are all taken with a very wide angle lens, giving the impression of space where there is none! We discovered just how inaccurate the photos were when we were shown our room - it was so small that there wasn't room for our two small suitcases, let alone anywhere to unpack anything. In fact, we could hardly make our way around the room without bumping into each other (and we are both small people). The very helpful receptionist on duty that evening (Midori) was most apologetic, and promised to move us to a better room the following day. The new room had a small alcove - about two foot square - which gave us a little more room. But still the only place for the suitcases was standing upright behind the door, meaning we had to move them to get in and out, and to get to our clothes. We had booked for five nights but in the end left Kyoto a day early, losing one night's payment. The facilities, such as laundry room, were not as expected either - a machine in a cupboard, with no options to change temperature etc. And breakfast was unavailable due to building work. In all, the only pluses were the very helpful receptionist (Midori helped us with information and was unfailingly gracious) - and the location. We urge the owners to change the photo gallery so as not to mislead potential guests.

Reviewed By V0LDENUIT借りる単位は一室ではなく、一棟（あるいは半棟）ですので、ぱっと見料金が高額ですが、料金以上に延べ床面積が広く、のんびりと寛げます。春秋の超ピーク期でも料金が高騰しないので、4名以上であればビルディングタイプのホテルよりかえってお得ではないでしょうか？ リノベーションされた町屋で、現代的なお家です。でも、梁を見るともともと町屋だったんだと分かります。私が泊った部屋は町屋2つをぶち抜いた間取りでしたので、とても広く、たった1泊では使いきれなかったのが正直なところです。でも、☆5ホテルと大差ない値段でこの広さ、人目を気にせず裸足でのんびりできる気楽さ、泊まってよかったと思います（強いて言うなら、広すぎて暖房がきくまで時間がかかります） 和室と大きな姿見があり、着物を着る場合にも非常に便利だと思います。 ただ、小規模ホテルのようなものですので、チェックアウト後に荷物を預かってもらうことはできません（キャリーサービスには対応）。小さなホテルではサービスの質はホテルによってまちまちですが、こちらはしっかりと信頼できる方がいらして、事前にお願いした手配関係も快く受けてくださり、また確認が必要な場合でも「ではこういたしましょう」とこちらから言わなくても善処してくださいました。ホテルの規模からは想像つかない心強いコンシェルジェだと思います。
