Very cool and quaint hotel. Nice design. Professional Staff

This hotel was definitely a unique experience. Very nice and clean hotel. Peaceful and serene. The hotel staff were very professional and made you feel like royalty. I stayed here for business but I would definitely recommend it as a romantic hotel for couples. The rooms are larger than others in the area and the view of the ocean is very nice too. Also, I really enjoyed the food selections each morning and the small bar near the lobby. There are several restaurants in the area that you can walk to as well. On a clear day, you can see Mount Fiji!

Hotel Shiosai

Location is both its assets and its hindrance

Reviewed By RaoulJean

Waking up with the sea right outside your window is always sublime. And at Shiosai, me and my wife got exactly that, which was fantastic. Only a few minutes walk from the JR station, with many restaurants nearby, the location really is fantastic. Cherry on top, the price for a saturday was very reasonable! It is only when we went to bed that we realized what the problem was: noise, plenty of it and very late! First the wall are paper-thin, so one can hear the other room's TV and guests's conversation....But the worst is the continuous traffic that went on until very late, just below our window. Those familiar with Enoshima/Zushi know that there is only one road that follows the seafront. Even after families had gone, petrol-heads drove back & forth, with their pimped-out moped/cars etc.... Nightmare! Sea-view or a good sleep, you'll have to choose! ;)

Perfect Place

My friend and I chose to stay here for a couple of nights, but we kept adding on more nights because we weren’t ready to leave! The two private onsens are easy to reserve and they are perfect! The property is cozy and makes you feel at home as soon as you walk in the door. There is plenty of nature around the property and many good bars and restaurants in waking distance. The owners are super helpful and are always available for questions or to add on more nights to your stay! I hope to make it back here again one day.

Acceptable

This place is probably not suitable for people who are on the rush and are not able to read Japanese as it is quite tricky to reach the area. I stayed for 3 nights and got lost almost every day! The cigarette stench in the room was really unpleasant. The place doesn't provide Wi-Fi unless requested. A cable internet connection was provided from the start. The TV channels were quite boring and there was no English channel provided. There was a microwave and water dispenser in every room which was very nice. Some have commented on the small size of the bedroom but for the price this is pretty standard I suppose in Japan.

location is remote without shuttle bus though, need at least 2500yen for round-trip bus from hakone yumoto station, so you can imagine how much you will cost if depart from tokyo. one-day trip price is ok, but that doesnt include drink, the worst thing is when you order drink they dont tell you that it costs extra money . furthermore the drink is extremely expensive, not acceptable at all. then talking about hotspring(Onsen), its worst i have been in Japan with that price.

Inn By The Sea Kamakura

Inn By The Sea Kamakura is a small, simple guesthouse-style inn in Hase, Kamakura, Japan. As our name suggests, we are located by the sea — the beach is just across the road. We're also within a ten-minute walk of the Great Buddha of Kotoku-in, and Hase Dera (Temple). Our building is Western, except for the bedrooms, which are Japanese-style, with tatami flooring and futon bedding. Washrooms are shared, but bathrooms — though not ensuite — are private. Inn By The Sea Kamakura is family-run. We (Hisashi —Japanese; and Helen — Canadian), along with our two young children, have been welcoming guests since December 2014. We hope you'll consider our inn for your stay in Kamakura.

Good value B&B in a pricey town

Reviewed By IanHa

First thing...your JR train will take you to Kamakura station...you still have a mile to go. Take the local train...it is easy and you will then only have a short walk to the Inn... towards the beach(which is fairly charmless but seems popular with surfers). The Inn is tucked down an alley and is a modern building. What it lacks in traditional building style it makes up for in many other ways. It is reasonable value (note cash only, not credit cards). Helen is a great host, full of insights(she is Canadian so language really is no problem), keen to help and clearly is a very nice person. You have easy access to some of the key sites in Kamakura including the Great Buddha and just beyond this there is also a great walk in the hills along a ridge which accesses another welcome attraction...the cafe in the clouds(closed after 5.00) Breakfast is good. Room is spacious and Japanese themed so you will be living at ground level. There are many local cafes around but they do close early so don't expect European style late evening meals to be available locally. Kamakura is an expensive town, the Inn makes it reasonable to visit and if you think B&B rather than traditional Inn or Hotel you will not be disappointed.
