Playsis East Tokyo

Our terrace lounge with a view of Tokyo Skytree is very popular! PLAYSIS EAST TOKYO reopened in May 2020. The Sky Lounge on the rooftop is very popular, and you can see the Tokyo Skytree all the way to the top. It has also been used as a filming location for many TV stations, and some people even come here just to take pictures of the beautiful scenery. You can access Asakusa Station (where our hotel is located) from Haneda Airport and Narita Airport by direct train. With over 300 stores,Tokyo Solamachi (where the Skytree Tower is located) allows you to enjoy shopping and gourmet food in one of the most atmospheric neighborhoods of Tokyo. The popular Asakusa area is within walking distance, making it the ideal location for sightseeing in downtown Tokyo.

Young & pleasant accommodation

Reviewed By Magnux91

I booked 10 nights at Playsis. This multi-gender hostel is located near Sumida Bridge and River, in a really quiet neighborhood but with all the necessary services ( konbini, atm, and so on ). Only 7/8 by feet from Asakusa Station for Ginza and Asakusa Line. 10/12 mins by feet from the incredible vivid Senso-ji temple area. There's a smoking area in the front access, than an area with all the furniture like water boiler, basin, a table, an isle for eating, a comfy sofa and an automatic drink machine. 3 floors of bedrooms ( 2 multi-gender and 1 only female) plus a floor with a Japanese style suite and at the top, a really good open place for a 360 degrees view with the SkyTree. My big room was supposed for 30 people but in late January there aren't that much. Really clean bed, moquette, bathroom, shower and a bath too. Quiet in the night. Requires (as always in Japan) to release your shoes when coming in. The staff is all youngster and multilingual. They're friendly and open with every necessity. Highly recommended!!! Arigatou...

I stayed in this hostel group before in Kyoto, so this time I gave Tokyo's Khaosan a go. Spacious lounge/common room, a foot bath also as describe ( need to be warmer imo ). My room was six bed female dorm, a little bit hard to open two large baggage in one go, but I managed it. Toilet and bathroom also inside the dorm... convenient, lovely. Would love to stay here again in the future. Thank you.

On a small back lane in Ryogoku, eastern Tokyo and home to sumo, is a mild building that offers indoor camping, movies and very low prices. Staff are friendly and helpful, and accommodate for rather late check-in times and curfew. Comfortable, clean, and reasonably close to two rail stations, and not far from pretty Sumida River.

Vintage charm

Reviewed By n0e1L

We really enjoyed our stay in Komatsuya. The traditional look of the building stood out among the modern characterless buildings around it. And the inside feels like it was frozen in time with traditional and vintage deco. The place is very warm and cozy. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The location is great too, near Skytree and metro station.

A perfect wee nest

Reviewed By Heather B

Had a lovely stay here for my first few nights in Tokyo. I was really happy with it as a base to come back to every evening after spending busy days in and around the city. My wee pod was nice and comfortable and felt private enough to give me my own space which I appreciated. Check in was very straightforward. The accommodation was very clean throughout. Overall, excellent for the price. I did pop my head in downstairs as I was leaving to say thanks but sadly didn’t see anyone around. I will recommend this place to friends who plan to visit Tokyo in the future and may even return myself.

Anne Hostel Yokozuna

Not safe for female travelers

Reviewed By cquezer

A female traveler stayed here and another male guest spied on her while she was showering. She caught him in the act. This is sexual harassment to a very serious degree. Furthermore, the hostel staff did absolutely nothing to hold the male guest accountable--Reina at the front desk refused to provide the perpetrator's name or even contact information of the hostel's manager so the female traveler could file some type of police report herself. So be very wary of this hostel (especially if you are a woman), as they condone sexual harassment against women. Creating a safe and comfortable environment for ALL guests should always be a top priority, and it is not at this hostel.

Couldn't have asked for more

· I went to the guesthouse twice in my stay in japan since I liked it so much the first time around. The first time i stayed there i kept to myself as i am quite shy, and was tired most of the time i was around. The second time however, I could trully appreciate what kind of place this heaven on earth is. The staff (and volunteers!) are all dreamy, bubbly, welcoming and most of all, kind. The community built around the guesthouse is otherworldly, uniting people from the neighborhood as well as aspiring artists and travellers from all around the world. I really enjoyed my stay here, and if I come back to Japan (which i will) i'll be sure to come again! Thanks everyone!

What a throwback in time! Loved it

What a great little place! Out room was larger than any other room we’ve stayed at in Tokyo. The futons were comfortable and the shower was large and you could strip mine with the water pressure if need be. The staff is extremely helpful and courteous. There’s a 7-eleven 50ft away for those late night cravings and a lot of places to get food during the day. Also, it’s a quick 100yen trip by bus to the Tokyo Skytree. The bus stop is 3 blocks away and overall quicker than taking the Asakusa train. Would definitely stay here again.

Great place with easy access to central Tokyo

Reviewed By U2322BMjamess

We had a family room for a few days which had a 4 capsule style bunk bed and a private toilet and shower. Very clean on arrival and the staff were helpful with appropriate instructions and directions when asked. The beds were a little hard but okay. Our only complaint was other guests were a bit noisy. (We dont want to be killkoys but till 3am somenights was a bit excessive). As I have seen suggested maybe a few notices asking people to be quiet a night might help. The Asakusa metro station is only 5 minutes away which provides easy access to central tokoyo as well as both Airports. Also in that area are a mini-mart and various shops and cafes/restaurants. From their facebook page we found Builders Burger resturant just a few minutes away and they really were some of the best burgers we have had. All in all we were glad with our choice of a base in Tokyo.
