Very good modern hotel

Reviewed By ASkye

Very good modern hotel in an excellent location. Easy short walk to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. Easy short bus from the JR station to the hotel. Surrounding streets have good food options, shops etc. Our room was comfy and cosy. Small but very clean and modern private toilet/shower room. Downstairs communal area was nice and spacious. Friendly staff and nice touches like origami instructions on the downstairs tables :). Also convenient luggage storage facility. Thanks for a great stay!

Santiago Guesthouse Hiroshima

Value for money

Reviewed By AkshataRao

This is a pretty basic hostel close to the Peace Memorial Park. While the room was spacious, the lounge-and-kitchen is rather small and sits together with the reception. We didn't get towels on check-in and had a hard time finding the receptionist at their desk after that. The showers are on a different floor, and are okay-ish. The best part was the proximity to the Peace Park.

J-Hoppers Hiroshima Guesthouse

Opened in Nov, 2006. A former small Japanese sytle ryokan was partially remodelled into a cool Japanese style backpackers guest house/hostel. We are very close to the Peace Memorial Park and the A-Bomb. Also has good access to another World Heritage site Miyajima. Please visit the Hiroshima, the city of peace and water.

Cosy and homely little hostel, perfect for a 2 day stopover

We loved our stay at J Hoppers! It wasn't as modern and tidy as other hostels we stayed in during our Japan travels but it was very homely and we felt comfortable hanging around in the lounge, watching tv, making our own food etc. There is everything you could possibly need inside and nearby the hostel so you won't want for anything!

Molto carino e suggestivo

Reviewed By alessiogoofy

The place is so nice, and the owner very kind. A nice guy - probably his son - takes care of the welcoming, and gives suggestions on the activities around the island. The house is very nice with a nice garden before the door and a big hall at the entrance full of many suggestive Japanese decorations and statues. On the left a big room full of sofas and other decorations and also tourist guides in many languages to help the guest, with tv and tables, and also a kitchen with cereals and juices for the guests to be used. Stairs take you to the rooms where you can experience how a Japanese ryokan is, with short tables, cushions on the floor, big windows and bamboo walls. The room has a initial anti room with a small table and a wardrobe where to store futons and pillows, and a second wider room enough for three futons, with other two short tables, and big windows over the entire island, with two big chairs and a small sink. The toilet and the showers are shared though, and for the bravest there is also a bath with hot water where to relax (but I do not know how and how many times do they clean it). I loved the atmosphere ?

Small Hotel Kaniwaso

Kaniwa is a self-service style establishment; guests make their own beds upon check-in, remove the sheets at check-out, and there are no meals served at the guesthouse. At night on Miyajima, barely any cars drive by, so guests can experience a silent night rarely found in the city. We hope you come experience the luxury of “nothingness.”

Lovely guesthouse, great location

Reviewed By Ellie T

The hostel is in such a peaceful location, super close to the ferry and it is so lovely to spend time on the island after everyone has left. The rooms are very comfortable and the bathroom facilities are great and very clean. The only things that I found could be improved would be perhaps an offering of even a basic breakfast as it is so difficult to get breakfast on the island early in the morning and also to have some better security as the rooms have no locks, although lockers with locks for smaller items are provided and some of the day there is no one on reception, although I can see that the area is particularly safe. They also allow bags to be left just by reception on the day of checking out, however if no one is at reception then someone could easily walk in the front door and take bags with no one catching them. This being said I would definitely return to the hostel if I returned to Hiroshima area.

Amazing guesthouse!

Reviewed By Theresa H

This was the nicest place we stayed at in our entire 3-week Japan travels! Lovely staff, very helpful and perfect English speakers. Everything was very clean and well maintained. The views are superb and waking up overlooking temples, the sea and the bridge was almost a magical experience. The many steps up to the guesthouse are tiring, especially if you have lots of luggage to carry, but it is so worth it! Would definitely book again and wish there were more placed like this in Japan!

Anagononedoko

Sharing the same long and narrow shape as the bed of an eel, the Onomichi guesthouse Anago no Nedoko was named after the local townhouse specialty of anago (or eel in English) and is a property of the Onomichi vacant housing renewal project, Akiyasaisei. Formerly a port town, the shopping district area of Onomichi flourished long ago. Even now old, elongated townhouses are still abundant in the middle of town, but the interior and full extent of these buildings-how interiors are divided and used for living -goes unseen and is not widely known even in Onomichi. These historical buildings have a special place in our hearts and we are trying to do our best to pass them on to the next generation. Until now here hasn't been a big enough influx of young people to shoulder the load in the creative field in Onomichi, people with the aim of expanding tourism, with an eye towards sharing information, cultures and ideas in a new space with the old atmosphere. And so in the fall of 2012 the Onomichi guesthouse Anago no Nedoko opens its doors as the doors of more and more shops in the old shopping arcade close for good. We hope our guesthouse will be a base for strangers and young people to connect to the area.

Affordable and great character

Reviewed By sinjoorAntwerp

We (2 parents, 2 kids, 1 grandmother) stayed in the family room for two nights and loved it. We were a bit surprised that there was another “private” room next to ours, separated by a simple sliding door (locked) only. So there is little privacy, but it is a real traditional old building. This is what all houses used to be. We used the washer and dryer, very handy to have that on the premises. Staying in a place with shared spaces always needs a bit of luck : hope that the other guests have similar preferences as you do. We were lucky : the staff helped us with finding a good restaurant and made the reservation, some guests were interesting conversation partners. We planned to stay for 1 night but had to adjust our schedule to 2 and we were very happy : Onomochi is an interesting place worth a visit, so even if you considered it as a start/ the end of the Shimanami biking trip I would recommend you take your time here and enjoy it all.
