This restaurant is not in the typical busy areas of Fukuoka liked Hakata or Tenjin, yet it really opened my eyes for Motsunabe. A friend and I booked an Airbnb nearby, and the owner recommended it. Despite being in a residential area, we had to wait 30 minutes to get a table. Upon entry, each guest gets to choose a free appetizer. I chose sea snails while my friend chose fried fish, both of which were very tasty. The Motsunabe, a local classic with beef tripe boiled in a soup with veggies and miso, was absolutely amazing. The cabbage had soaked up the miso and broth and became very tasty. We ended up ordered two more helpings of tripe. We drank a couple pints of beer but I think sake would also go down well. The staff didn't speak much English and none of the menus are in English either, but everyone was very helpful and polite.

Just by the entrance to Kyushu Expressway's Dazaifu interchange, there's a place that's always packed. For lovers of the ever-popular "katsudon" dish, this is worth trying out. Korian may sound like like the word Korean but it means a kind of fox. It's small, but good for families as well as solo diners.

I was recommended by local to this best tempura place in Fukuoka. Originally we wanted to visit Tenjin's branch but it was closed. When we arrive on a Sunday night, there is quite a long queue and we waited for at least 30-45mins for that. They served the item one by one. Once it comes out from the deep fried, it served to you immediately. So it is fresh and nice. I like the batter, mine slightly oily but my friend's one just nice. There are 4 kinds of side dishes, most table have 3 only, probably because the sweet potatoes are not available anymore. I like the Daikon and sweet potatoes. Tempura is really nice with the generous sauce they gave. If you are here and transport is not an issue(of course with long queue), you should try this.
