Dating from at least the 10th century, today Kassel is most famous internationally as the home of Documenta, an every-five-years exhibition of modern and contemporary art. In the late 17th century Kassel received a large influx of Huguenot refugees from France. During the 1800s, it became the capital of the Brothers Grimm's Fairy Tale Route. In 1943, the city was virtually razed by British bombers, leaving few old sights, but the 18th-century Wilhelmshöhe Castle overlooking the city remains.

We ate here twice during the busy documenta period in Kassel. Though busy and bustling, the staff found us a table and served us quickly. The food we ordered was simple and perfect: arugula salad with shaved parmesan; tagliatelle with shaved fresh truffles was outstanding.

I usually take coffee and brioche here and it always perfect. Charming staff with smile and warm atmosphere. It is the place to have your cappuccino in a rainy weather. I like all their products, starting with olives, wine, and pastry. Real touch of Italian food in Germany.

Small italian restaurant in Kassel, family run.The menu is rather short, anyway offering a selection of Italian seafood and meat dishes. Absolutely good quality of the ingredients, simple but good cuisine, kind of "home style".Good wine selection reflecting the character of the restaurant.Fair prices.

The Trattoria Pippo is a small Restaurant serving exquisite Italian Food with a stress on the cuisine of Sicily. The owner ("Pippo") himself is a marvelous creative cook. All Food is freshly prepared and very tasty. Try the fish, which is always fresh and always freshly cooked. Let the waiter recommend one of these great Italian or Siilian wines. On top of it the Service (often by Pippo himself or his wife) is always extremely friendly - really feels like eating at home.

We had dinner at Ristorante Il Teatro, near Konigsplatz, a small wine bar. We almost panicked when the menu didnât list entrees, but my husband noticed a blackboard outside that listed dorade. Our starters were insalata caprese, a large mound of buffalo mozzarella surrounded by half cherry tomatoes on a bed of arugula -- very good! The dorade was beautiful, but over-salted, we thought, but cooked properly.

If you are lost in food choice, then, don't waste your time and go directly to Gusto. Very nice atmosphere, busy, but not noisy. Somehow, I felt very much like at home and food is absolutely delicious (recommend their soups!!!). Quick orders, self-service and fresh food! What can be better?!

We ate here as a couple before visiting the opera. The menu was very rich and the dishes were extremely delicious (while also being huge). The staff was very friendly, nice and charming but also absolutely unobtusive and in no way superficial. The place itself is really beatiful and the atmospere is cozy without being too kitschy. We will definitely come here again; and next time we will also bring the kids because it seemed also very good for families.

Luckily we had made a reservation for dinner because we were told that this restaurant is pretty crowded in weekends. We know why.The food is tasty and they serve really good wines. Prices are reasonable and the service is good. We love the atmosphere in this restaurant and I could speak to the owner of this restaurant. What a nice and friendly lady, with lots of passion for the restaurant.Unfortunately we are only in that region of Germany once a year, but next year we love to come back again. See you then.

The best food in Kassel! The restaurant is situated in an old majestic building with unique spirit across the castle and the park with centuries-old trees. The service was absolutely perfect and the selection of dishes, wine, beer and desserts was simply perfect! We enjoyed ourselves immensely
