Excellent B&B, very welcoming hosts to very clean house.
Reviewed By RetiredAldershotStayed for three nights. Hosts made me welcome straightaway. A well equipped large room. Breakfast was more than adequate with a range of typical German breakfast options. A little way out of town - a 15 minute walk to Wolfach with the first 100 yards being fairly steep - thereafter flat alongside the Kinzig river to a most charming town with plenty of eating options. Good car parking either at top of steep drive by side of house or on the flat in a purpose built area at the bottom of the drive. Good first class B&B.

Unpleasant surprise
Reviewed By marciesingaporeIgnore what you read on other websites or booking sites about the great bar and restaurant. They are closed and have been for months as the receptionist told me when she opened the door to the clearly broken kitchen. You will find yourself in the middle of nowhere faced with a 5km drive down a dark winding road into Wolfach to find some dinner. Worse, you will have to do the same to get some breakfast – there is nothing in Kirnbach village and this hotel can’t even be bothered to provide some bread rolls for breakfast in your room. The rooms are clean but nothing to get excited about (especially on the top floor where you only get a rooflight). English not spoken here (maybe in the tourist season) Wi-fi practically impossible to connect to if you have an i-Phone, i-Pad or macbook and there are no instructions in the room. This is the only time I had this problem during my 2 weeks in Germany. And don’t leave any cash laying around as it might go missing (even if it is in an envelope) If you are touring the Black Forest do yourself a favour and avoid Hotel Sonne and stay instead in one of the hotels in Wolfach such as Gasthaus Hotel Hecht which has a great restaurant for dinner and breakfast, a warm welcome and free parking at the rear.

Reviewed By simmondsiI don't understand the bad reviews - service is relaxed, but that was our experience in general in the Schwarzwald. Take your time, relax, you are on holiday and not in a rush. We only had coffee - which was fine - but the plates being served to other tables looked really good especially the salads. Disappointed that they did not have cake to go with the coffee.

We would like to welcome you at the Kurgarten-Hotel in the charming town of Wolfach! At our hotel you can relax in a cordial atmosphere with friendly service and traditional cuisine from your everyday life. Our house is located only a few walking minutes from the centre of the spa park of the town Wolfach. The hotel is suitable for wheelchairs and has a corresponding passenger elevator. All our rooms are bright and friendly furnished and some of them have balconies. In each room is a bathroom with shower or bath, a toilet and satellite TV. Also there are two family suites with apartment-character incl. Kitchenette available. In addition, we offer our guests a sun roof terrace, a garden terrace, a swimming pool and a sauna for relaxing after busy days. There is also a conference room for 60 to 80 people available. We are looking forward to your visit!
Good value and clean
Reviewed By PigletWinnieAndRooTip: Check if you are on the side where the Church is! It chimes every 15 minutes through the night. Parking: there is ample parking and room for motorcycles in their private car park. The swimming pool is small, but very good. There is good safe access if you are unsteady on your feet. There is a sauna too and fitness room. Tip: be careful at the edge of the pool as it can be very very slippery when wet and there is a small step that can go unnoticed and cause a slip close to the entrance to the pool area. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a reasonable buffet. Accommodation was simple but comfortable. Only a minute from the centre of Wolfach and a great place to explore the Black Forest from.

Reviewed By Keith SThe food and wine was good. We were pleased with the overall experience in the restaurant. Unfortunately the chicken which I ordered was not cooked through. I would have expected that the kitchen chef in a restaurant of this class would personally express his or her regrets, but maybe that’s just me. The service could also be more informed about what is offered. Two questions about the food and wine could not be answered.completely. The restaurant is still worth a visit.

Great restaurant and a very warm welcome
Reviewed By marciesingaporeI stayed one night in November 2021. Room was small but clean with a terrace. Free parking at the rear. Restaurant must be the best in the area. Lovely dining room with inventive local food beautifully presented with faultless service. The couple who own and run the place are very welcoming. The breakfast was the best I had in my two weeks in Germany. Perfect place to stay a few days and explore the beautiful landscape.

Wonderful Black Forest experience
Reviewed By Andrea HThe Hanselhof is not "easy access" by American standards; however, once you make the steep drive to the top, you are rewarded. The gardens, chapel, accommodations, and scenery are well worth the distance from town. The Schmidt family have a lovely facility. My husband and I were quite comfortable in our newly renovated rooms. Apartments for families and spacious rooms make this place a favorite for everyone. If you are lucky enough to experience the bar-b-que on the mountain, you will enjoy the meat produced there as well as Mrs. Schmidt's tasty salads and desserts. My favorite was the morning coffee that the owner carefully researched and prepared. There is an interesting playground for the children and plenty of hiking opportunities. I would definitely go again.

Ruhe und Entspannung pur!
Reviewed By KatzistutaWir haben zwei Nächte im Podhaus gebucht. Mitten im Grünen und ideal zum entspannen und entschleunigen. Die Sanitäranlagen sind sauber und am Morgen gibt es gutes Frühstück im Äckerhof, welcher auch der perfekte Ausgangspunkt zum Wandern ist.
