Bessho Onsen is an oldest hot-spring resort located in central Nagano pref. Uematsuya Ryokan is a traditional Japanese style hotel provide special 'Kaiseki' Japanese course, natural hot-spring including outside bath, Japanese tatami room shows you a Japanese experience!
We visited Bessho Onsen on a weekend getaway from Tokyo and found it a perfect place to relax and unwind. The friendly, helpful staff at Uematsuya were very accommodating, giving us a cup of tea in the lobby when we arrived and meeting our dietary restrictions, providing an excellent kaiseki style dinner in our room made predominately with local ingredients (very impressive!). We even got local sparkling wine. The baths were excellent, with both indoor and outdoor options. The two sides swap from male to female at 11 pm every night, allowing patrons to enjoy both baths at different times. Like many older ryokan buildings, it was a bit labyrinthine to find the bath, but ultimately no problem. Breakfast was served in a common dining room decorated with very dramatic black and white drawings of Sanada heroes.

We visited Hanaya with my 1-year-old daughter. It was difficult to find baby-friendly ryokans but we could luckily find Hanaya which offers several good service for a baby. At first, they heated baby’s food anytime we want. Secondly, they brought dinners to our own room. At last, private onsen bathtubs are furnished with each rooms. Due to all above, we were able to spend our time with my baby comfortably just like in our own house.

The whole stay was absolutely perfect. The food was exquisite and surprising, and is such a good memory. The room was confortable and spacious, and we really enjoyed the onsen. The biggest compliment is for the staff: efficient, discreet and thoughtful. I have been in more "luxurious" hotels, but I have never experienced such a quality in the service. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay, and we would like to thank the man at the reception who was so considerate and offered us a small change-purse as we were having troubles with all of our coins... so helpful throughout our Japan trip! This hotel was THE expense of our trip, but we are so happy we stayed in this wonderful place.

Ueda is a castle town surrounded by history and nature Sotetsu Fressa Inn Nagao Ueda Ekimae allows you to easily access the famous sightseeing areas while also being located in front of Ueda Station in the Ueda City Terminal Please enjoy a relaxing style while taking in the history of Shinshu (traditional name for Nagano Prefecture)
It was an enjoyable stay. The rooms are smaller than I am accustomed to but more than acceptable. The breakfast good but had only two options Japan breakfast or western breakfast. The breakfast was tasty and all the folks were very helpful even though their English was not so good. Great stay and I would stay again. Very close to the train station.
