Very large resort hotel, essentially in the centre of Rusutsu. This is a fairly sprawling place with a Disney feel to it. I would say that it is suitable for families with small children. Also very expensive, but I suppose that is Japan!

Nice place for a Snowboarding holiday

Looking for JAPOW and having explored Niseko and Nagano before we decided to give it a try. The hotel is a big hotel rather than a lodge for those who may be used to smaller places. Customer service was great, rooms were spotless, well cleaned, and big. We had a great view of the slopes. Loved having a small kitchenette. Onsen was great, separate men’s and women’s sides. Gym was terrible (it’s only a tiny room maybe 1x6 metres with hardly any resistance equipment. See photo), no club lounge BUT they allow elite members to use a special section of the bar by the restaurant and provide a free menu of items (see photo) that you can order as many of as you want. The service was friendly and fast initially, but follow up service is a bit slower. Breakfast was great and lots of options. We had dinner at the buffet 3 nights and it was good, lots of nice seafood and great to have crab legs - well worth the price. Ski lockers downstairs are good, and having a Seven Eleven near the front of the hotel makes getting snacks convenient. You have to walk from here about 200m to a ski lift, but that only takes you to a slightly higher area, from there you have to walk to other lifts. Not a particularly snowboard friendly set up. Definitely not ski in/ski out. Other options are taking the monorail from inside the hotel across the road to the other side of the mountain which requires less walking but it’s REALLY slow. Once on the mountain the runs are small and over pretty quick but the runs through the trees and side-pisting in the deep pow are loads of fun.

Sadly onsite onsen was destroyed by fire just days before we arrived. Other wise - brilliant service, support and advice from team, good breakfast and dinner, comfortable cabin/villa. The worst thing I can think of ... toast maker was very slow during breakfast...but we soldiered on.

Perfect place for single travelers

Reviewed By Trelawn

I stayed for 2 weeks, the place felt like home in the end. It has everything you would want. Breakfast can be as early as 6.45, Ideal if you are going to drive to other areas. There is no reason why you shouldn’t have the breakfast, a fresh salad with cooked eggs, cheese bacon etc. A very warm and cosy place to stay, it has a wonderful view of the area from the sitting area upstairs. I certainly would go back there when the powder is plentiful. A rental car makes this area easier.

素晴らしい施設です〜長期滞在が快適です

Reviewed By endlesslift

まだ、知名度が低くて、空いているので気に入ってます。設備完備で、長期滞在に最適です。夏場は車がないと、リゾート以外の外食場所の選択肢が限られるのが難点かな。 It is now in 2nd winter and still not well known. Very quite, but it is a hotspot as it is connected with Rusutsu resort Hot springs and you can use all the facilities there. As being the only condominium in this area, it has everything needed like a dishwasher, washing machine etc and ideal for long stay. In summer, the eating out places in walking distance are limited just one or two except Rusutsu resort. In winter you don’t have to worry about that since there are more than five that I can think of.

Ohisama House

Private room rather than a guest house.

Reviewed By Keven07

Judging by the other reviews, times must have changed. We were very excited to be staying in a local guest house. Having visited Hokkaido a few times before I've had some wonderful experiences staying in local guest houses. It was a little odd when we first arrived - early evening - that other guests were in their rooms when there was a lovely open fire blazing downstairs. However, it soon became apparent that the owners, Yoko and and her husband Kazia, watched TV all evening and the downstairs was their space to drink and enjoy their evening. This in itself is not a problem at all but when you're paying USD180 (EUR150/AUD270) per night you'd absolutely expect the house to be for guests to enjoy as well, rather than a sub par level of service comparable to that of a cheap AirBNB private room. Breakfast is not included; you cannot use the cooking facilities and have to pay cash for breakfast in addition to the above price. There are no double rooms, as advertised, and all rooms have single beds pushed together. If you're booking, the shared bathroom bedroom has the best views, over the two rooms with private bathrooms and you're only sharing with the owners' bathroom downstairs. Towels are changed daily. Contrary to another review I saw, the drying room is quite spacious. The owners will pick you up and drop you off at the Rusutsu Resort long with a choice of 8:30 or 9:00am drop offs in the morning. It's also just a 10 minute stroll to the gondola (or longer hobble in ski boots!). Because we opted not to pay the extra cash for the breakfast, we were made to feel quite uncomfortable. Honestly, even if you've got money to burn there are MUCH better places to stay; find a discount rate at the Rusutsu Resort, hire a car and stay at one of the other wonderful local lodges nearby. If you've got a small group hire a lodge through StayRusutsu. For the price, Ohisama House does not come recommended what-so-ever.

Rusutsu Lodges - Pension Lilla Huset

Welcome to Rusutsu Lodges! Formally, Pension Lilla Huset. Located right in the heart of the Rusutsu ski area and less then a few minutes walk to both the main lift entrance and the Rusutsu Tower building. We are flanked by both 711 convenience store and Seiko Mart convenience store. A great place at a very reasonable price. We are open year round but be sure to book in advance as we are one of the most popular spots to stay outside of the resort accommodation. Currently under new management from the 2017 / 2018 season, we are trying to upgrade and improve an already great place.

Love this place. A small lodging with friendly staff. Prime location, between Rusutsu Resort and Westin Hotel. We got the bus from Sapporo New Chitose (must book bus online). The bus stopped at the Rusutsu Resort carpark and it’s a 2 minutes walk to Rusutsu Lodges (you can asked them to pick you up, dragging suitcases across when it’s snowing is no fun). We stayed in East Wing, with traditional Japanese bedroom and small kitchen and private bathroom/toilet - enough for a family of 3. Breakfast wasn’t included in our booking, but no need to worry, Seicomart and 7/11 convenient stores were very close to Rusutsu Lodges. We bought plenty of ready made food from there and heat them up in our little kitchen. We had lunch at the cafe in Rusutsu Lodges, nice food and the staff all very friendly (in the main building, opposite the reception area) We opted for this lodge because it’s small, more personal with friendly owner and staff. A self contained accommodation in a prime location. Around the lodge: There’s a rental shop near Seicomart, you got 10% off if you stayed at Rusutsu Lodges. We rented gloves, goggles, a sledge and ski suit for snow activities: Dog sledging held at Westin and Snowboard school at Rusutsu Resort. We bought cream puffs at Rusutsu Resort, delicious! Must try the new onsen Kotobuki No-Yu at the Vale Rusutsu (Rusutsu Resort - North wing, 6th floor) - amazing!!! (Pay at the reception). Walk 5 minutes and you’ll find Wakasaimo confectionary shop, you’ll wanna buy everything from there. The East Village restaurant (in the same building) looked inviting but was shut when we went.

Morii-san and Yoko-san are the most hospitable hosts. The included breakfasts are varied, substantial and served at either 7.30 or 8am. Cooked by Yoko. Dinner by Morii is 7 courses - traditional and delicious- prior bookings required but not served Sunday. Free clothes washing. Ample drying room. Best of all bathrooms for 2 persons with wonderful hot tub. Manako will drive you the short distance 3mins to the ski slopes shops restaurants etc. Free Wifi. Beautiful views from our spacious bedrooms which are cosy and comfortable. Small bar fridge in room and larger fridge to share beside the free tea coffee choc etc. 10 out of 10 and would definitely stay again.

Amazing little duplex right next to Rusutsu Resort

Reviewed By ggaeguri

This was an awesome little duplex right next to Rusutsu resort, just across the street and about a 5 min walk, there are also good food locations nearby like Rodeo drive and others within walking distance. The unit was brand new, very clean and had all modern amenities such as internet, TV, washing machine, bath or shower and a full kitchen allowing us to cook. It is very quiet with a good view of the mountains around you, easy to find and quite accessible being right off the main road. I would highly recommend and will definitely stay there again for my next trip in the spring.

これまで利用してきたなかで一番最悪な宿でした

Reviewed By yukisukiko
