Spacious Ski Lodge in a terrific location Absolutely magnificent sweeping views across the valley and Nozawa Onsen Resort. We completed a renovation recently to upgrade our facilities. We even installed a fireplace! The lodge has been Number 1 on Trip Advisor since we opened our doors almost 10 Years ago now Mainly due the the terrific team we have working with us We thank all our repeat guests for coming back year after year
Perfect place for a perfect ski holiday
Reviewed By 912seblWe stayed at Villa Nozawa for close to 2 weeks in December 2020-January 2021. It was a fantastic stay - a perfect 2-week ski holiday. The rooms are both clean and cozy, and the common areas are very comfortable. The breakfast delicious, with both Japanese and Western food, all 'home cooked' with great care. The staff was extremely attentive and friendly. Finally, the villa is well located, as you walk to the slopes easily and are 50 meters away from one of Nozawa's best public onsen. A good place to choose!

(And AMAZING) Address is nice, it’s spacious and in a great spot! It’s kind of soulless in my opinion and probably works better for larger groups, rather than a family of four.

Good value kaiseki dinner
Reviewed By sokmnWe didn’t stay here, only had the kaiseki dinner. Saw an ad for it, only cost JPY 3300 for the kaiseki dinner, which I thought was a pretty good price. It was not disappointing at all! Traditional and had lots of local produce, and we were full at the end. They also didn’t mind our kids shared the food instead of making additional bookings. The dining room was beautiful and had screens between each table so we had privacy. The only thing negative was most of the food was already laid on the table so it was a bit confusing for us, which one to eat first (is there an order at all..?). The lady owner was also friendly and gave a very warm welcome.

One of the Very Best
Reviewed By chackeridgeWe have just spent a glorious week in this wonderful hotel. We have travelled the world and stayed in many great hotels but we would rate this as one of the very best. As a Ryokan, it is a traditional Japanese hotel. It is so welcoming and full of character that staying there is a real pleasure. Our day started with a breakfast served by the attentive dining room staff, we had our separate cubicle. However, the highlight was the daily visit to bath in the hotel's own onsen (Japanese Spa Bath). We can truly say that we were treated like royalty, as were all of the guests. Nozawa Onsen is a delightful ski resort and Tokiwaye Ryokan is the gem in its heart.

Good views, at the top of town
Reviewed By normr512This was suggested to us by our travel agent as the better place to stay in Nozawa. It was OK and comfortable enough. We were sold the room with a private onsen - which was smaller than our bath at home. It is just big enough for one person. However, the larger guest onsen (seperate men and women) and the public onsen in the hotel offer a much better experience. The buffet breakfast is standard fare. The hotel is a short walk from anywhere in town. For anyone with mobility issues Nozawa will present difficulties.

Excellent and timely service was provided by the young Vietnamese waitress as course after course followed. A menu in English was very useful to explain each dish. The food was beautifully presented and each morsel was delicious. Highly recommended.

Very basic and small (with traditional tatami)
Reviewed By Gus OLabelled as traditional which can translate into very small, and uncomfortable. Not suited for a ski/board trip. No power in bathroom and nowhere really to get ready. No hooks to hang wet gear. No curtains, so light was an issue. Walls were very thin, so if you have noisy neighbours, expect to be woken up. Recommend ear plugs and eye patches. Wifi didn’t work in room. Don’t mean for this to sound quite so negative, as staff were nice and if you’re after traditional accommodation, this is good for you. If not doing a snow holiday probably quite nice as well.

Enjoyable Stay and Excellent Dinner
Reviewed By anntierney54Very pleasant and helpful hosts. Convenient location to restaurants and onsens in town. 10 minute walk to Nagasaka Gondola which gets you warmed up and ready to go. Great drying room for ski gear. Good breakfast (choice of western or Japanese). We invited 6 friends for dinner (24 hrs notice to book) and it was very enjoyable. Beautiful food at reasonable price and we took our own wine. There is a beer vending machine on site. We had a twin room with no bath/shower just a toilet and we used the hotel hot baths. Would definitely consider staying again at this lodge in the future.

You have ti walk up the mountain a bit to get to it, but it such a practical location to stay at, you are closer to the yu road. The ogawa open air hot spring is near by, restaurants close. Bars down the hill a bit and free parking. Id recommend the room 203, one of the larger rooms, with tv, toilet ,plenty of room up to 6 or 7 people to sleep on mattresses. And the view is spectacular. This hotel does have drying room for gear, and plenty of room to leave gear.restaurant is excellent for dinner and breakfast. The hotel is on 3 or 4 floors, with no lift. Staff are top

Great comfortable stay!
Reviewed By Sharni WThis place was a highlight of our trip. The hosts are an adorable older couple. When we arrived the man whipped out his little google translator and spoke to us via this. He was able to easily show us where the shuttle bus timetables were and explain everything about the accommodation. Breakfast was included and cooked fresh for us every morning. The hosts were super friendly. If you learn a few small Japanese phrases they are grateful and it really puts a smile on their faces. The room was super clean and comfortable. The location was great. A short walk into the main town and right next to a ski shuttle pick up spot. Highly recommended!!
