A place with few foreign tourists

Reviewed By sweepengchan2016

Highly recommended. Ishibuso is in the Izu Peninsula , needs a train journey from Tokyo followed by a local bus ride. You’re in the midst of true Japan countryside - rice fields, fruit orchards and a very very wild coast line. Oh, must not to forget to mention this is the place for hot springs . Locals are friendly with minimum spoken English but nothing beats a big smile and a bow . Our minshuku is just across the road from the beach, excellent home cooked food. If you like seafood this is the place for you.

Very outdated

Reviewed By KHRMLWM

We stayed here 2 nights. The only thing it has going for it is the view. It is along the ocean and it has a beautiful sunset. The onsen is small the buffet is not the best food. If you book without dinner it would be better as there is an awesome little place just down the promenade. The hotel is not very clean and dated. The staff speak very little or no English. They did not clean our room in between nights.

Pleasant Stay

Reviewed By NDoubleU

This was my second time staying here and the second time that I have had a pleasant stay. It is located about 3-5 minutes from the Matsuzaki Bus Terminal on foot and next to Matsuzaki Beach. The staff didn't speak English, but everyone was nice and tried their best to be accommodating. They did have a pamphlet in English that talked about the hotel and showed various things to do and see around town, so that was convenient. The hotel offered both traditional Japanese style rooms with tatami mats and futons and western style rooms with beds. There was also an option for a room with a view of the town or a view of the bay/ocean which cost a bit more. I opted for the western style room with the town view which was less expensive and resembled a typical room and bed you would find at a business hotel in Japan, clean and decent. The provided amenities (towels, robes, slippers, etc) were on par with that of a business hotel as well. Be aware that this hotel has a curfew. Other hotels I have stayed at in Japan have a similar rule, so this wasn't surprising to me. Maybe this was so that they could cut down on staffing costs or curb late night mischief? I don’t know. Anyway, the guidebook in the room stated 10pm, but the front desk said 11pm. Always better make sure and ask the front desk if you decide to step out and want to come back late. You don’t want to be hanging out late at a nearby restaurant or beach and then come back finding the front door locked and the lobby lights off. Not really being a seafood fan, I never tried their dinner courses. I did however try their breakfast which was laid out in a buffet style on the second floor dining room daily from 7am to 9am. The food consisted mainly of Japanese dishes which were overall good. Not something to write home about, but good enough to satisfy an empty stomach in the morning. The highlight of this hotel I think has to be the onsen (hot spring) on the top floor. Both the indoor and outdoor onsen offered spectacular views of Matsuzaki Beach and Suruga Bay. On a clear day during sunset it can get quite picturesque! This is always my go-to hotel whenever I visit Matsuzaki and still will be for the foreseeable future.

Amazing last minute stay

We booked a room at Hamadoraku last minute and I'm so glad we did. It's located right next to a gorgeous beach with an area nearby to view the sunset over the water. I didn't try the food but it looked delicious.

Reviewed By 徳人佐
