Basic hotel, it is OK, fun experience and clean. The rooms are small and basic, but new and clean. The breakfast buffet was really good. You can go to the onsen for free but takes about 5 minutes driving.

A very kind lady staff name 須賀, was extremely helpful during our stay. She tried her best to help guests dealings with problems and issues. Staffs of the hotel are very friendly and welcoming. They would ensure that we were assisted and helped at all times. We got a western-japanese style room that were spacious and comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were fantastic! 須賀, thank you for your assistance during our stay. Will definitely come back if we are in Nishiura again! :)

Beautiful scenery but dated property
Reviewed By jayque33Stayed in a twin room for 1 night during our March trip. Was assigned the Japanese room type, it was smaller than what we had expected from the hotel's website pictures - 10 tatami mat instead of a 16 tatami mat room? Perhaps it would be better if they had displayed out all the available room types on the website so that people can know what they were expecting. The hotel was located uphill, so access was hard if you don't book the free shuttle bus or if you don't have a bus to transfer you up. What was more unbelievable was that, they actually had another flight of stairs up to the hotel's lobby area, after having to drag the heavy luggage uphill to the hotel's doorstep. Now I understand why most of the patrons are locals. The rooms, were the typical types of rooms which you can expect from an onsen hotel. However, I think it's time that they change the kettle inside the room. There is a metallic smell coming from the water boiled & the room's doors are quite hard to close/open and they are not auto-locked. However, I appreciate the fact that the hotel staff took notice of our meal request not to have raw food.

This hotel has a total of 4 spring baths and open to male and female guests at alternatively. Moreover I enjoyed the breakfast and dinner, which were good with sashimi at dinner. The staff was friendly and helpful - a particular point to note is one of them can speak in putonghua fluently. It helped a lot!

Number 1 service with a twist
Reviewed By Balint BWe booked this hotel as we wanted to experience the Japanese beach culture. Reviews were decent but none in English. We had been in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Hakone, Fuji among others and had a swell time. We had been in luxury hotels and ryokans. Booking the room was a challenge as the booking website was only in Japanese and it required a Japan address. Google translate and using our hotel address solved this problem. We had our previous hotel call to ensure that a shuttle to the hotel was available. They said no problem but we would have to call the hotel once we arrived at Nishiara station. When we arrived there, no pay phones could be found. A nice local kid called the hotel for us and the shuttle promptly arrived. Later we found a public phone on the grounds if the temple immediately next to the train station. We arrived in our room and it was horrible! Rooms 201 and 203 smell like smoke, are dirty, run down and the beds are very uncomfortable. These rooms are also very noisy as some sort of filter occasionally is turned on and sounds like a jet engine. The next morning I went down to the front desk to say we wanted to leave. They said that we could be upgraded to a better room 413. We entered the new room. Wow! Were we in the same hotel? It was absolute paradise, hot tub looking over the ocean, fully renovated. The fellow also provided us with bikes for the day for free. They also drove us to and from the best sushi place we had on our Japan visit. We were impressed! Super way of manning up to a problem. But the 200 rooms should be condemned.

Absolute luxury
Reviewed By MrChurThis hotel is fantastically classic. It offers an elegant charm from a bygone era, situated on top of a hill giving views across the city, across Mikawa Bay and to Takashima Island. Straight off the bat, the ambiance when you enter the lobby is quite inspiring, calming and relaxing. The welcoming friendliness from the staff is overwhelmingly pleasant. They were great for the entirety of my four day stay. I had a city facing twin bed room. The bathroom was nicely presented, with a bath/shower facility. As I'm 6ft2 (186cm) the wash basin only came up to my mid-thigh, so a lot lower than I am used to. But that was not a problem. Breakfast was very good on the two occasions I had time to get it. I had the European style the first day, then had the traditional Japanese on my last day. The Japanese breakfast was a real treat and well worth straying from the traditional European bacon & eggs offering. All in all, a fantastic stay while I was in Gamagori and would recommend it without question.
