Reviewed By Gerrit vWe've been there for a week. Its a very nice hotel. The staff is very kindly and friendly. The breakfast is delicious, an enorm varity of bread, meat, cheese and yoghurts. The diner is also healthy and various. We had half pension and it was delicious. A good hotel, very pleasant staff. No comments.

A bit underwhelming
Reviewed By Albert SI chose the hotel because it was a good location for my stopover on the way to Switzerland. Luckily there was still one (free) parking spot available when I arrived. Even when the hotel met my requirements, I was a bit underwhelmed with the whole experience. I didn't feel very warmly welcomed when the reception insisted on removing one the duvets from the bed because I had booked a double room with single occupancy. Although probably correct, this never happened to me before. The room was clean and decent with balcony and small bathroom. But for the price I had expected a bit more than a very basic room in the back even when I booked the lowest category. Breakfast was also fairly simple; decent but by no means opulent. I did not try the restaurant in the hotel. Perhaps I should have because I read good reviews of it. All in all, for my stopover it was good choice but as a tourist I would not consider the same room in the same hotel.

Good basic hotel
Reviewed By TeeathomeIf you are looking for a comfortable bed, clean with a good continental breakfast, walking distance to a few restaurants then this is a fine example. Very pleasant staff, swimming pool in the summer, rooms with small balconies. The decor is dated, the pillows are awful and towels whilst clean on the small side. Good shower plenty of hot water. We didn’t manage to get the Wi-fi to work but as only an overnight stop it was not a problem. Tv, not the best signal but again not a problem for us. Excellent choice at breakfast, fresh rolls, different cheeses and meats, hot sausage and boiled eggs, cereals fruit, cakes and croissants with several juices and teas.

Friendly, welcoming and good value
Reviewed By mike2uI stayed at Hotel Schmid for three nights during Basel Week when it is impossible to get a hotel in Basel without paying a small fortune. I did not know what to expect and was very pleasantly surprised. The rooms are adequate and most importantly they are clean and well kept. I stayed in room 30 and my colleague in room 31, these rooms are in a separate building, if you are a light sleeper I would not advise these rooms as they are very close to the train line and first train is around 05.30. The main hotel is further from the line so the noise is not an issue. Breakfast is good and there is plenty of good coffee with it. Most importantly it is easy to get into Basel. You can walk to the train station in 5 minutes and it is only 20 minutes into Basel Bad Bahnhof and from there you can catch a tram to anywhere in the city. There are some good local restaurants for the evening and I ate some of the best steak I have ever eaten at the Hotel Schwanen If you get the chance the spa and volcanic spring waters in Bad Bellingen are reported to be fabulous There are ethernet cables in the rooms for the internet so if you need a convert/adapter make sure you bring one (they do keep some USB adapters at the reception if you forget) I would stay here again

Great to have option to have A/C
Reviewed By sjb_davosThe family run hotel was very comfortable. From recepion to breakfast service to checkout, the owners were very friendly. During our visit was a very hot time and we at least had an option to pay 5euro for A/C. All of the others in town we talked with had no A/C in their hotels.

Fabulous Stay While Hiking the Wiiwegli
Reviewed By johnsonb2009My wife & I hiked the Markgräfler Wiiwegli wine trail from Basel to Freiburg, and stayed at the Hotel Kaiserhof for a night in Bad Bellingen. We had a fantastic experience all around & couldn't recommend it more highly. Our room & bathroom were incredibly clean & comfortable. Dinner in the restaurant was absolutely delicious - our favourite dinner of the whole trip. The entire hotel team were friendly & helpful, and they were very kind to humour my poor German as I attempted to practice. Breakfast was fresh & plentiful in the morning as well, and the icing on the cake (from a hiker's perspective) was that the team helped organise a bag transfer to our next destination for a reasonable fee. We hope to visit again soon & definitely recommend the Hotel Kaiserhof to anyone passing through Bad Bellingen.

Plenty of space for a group, very helpful staff
Reviewed By HivemindXI guess the main attraction of this hotel is to golfers who want to take advantage of the courses associated with it. However I went with a group in January and with snow everywhere we had no intention of playing any golf. This was very much the off season, I think we may have been the only people staying in the whole place. Breakfasts were great. There was a big selection of cereals, yogurts, meats and cheeses and amazing bread. The cook would make omelettes or bacon and eggs as requested. The rooms were arranged in groups, I guess you could call them suites. We had two sets of rooms. The one I stayed in had four double rooms, each of which locked and a large communal room with a sofa and a dining table. The only thing preventing me from thinking of this as a self catering apartment was the absence of cooking facilities. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Since we were the only ones staying they let us use the conference room for our personal use whenever we liked at no extra charge. I'd have no hesitation in staying there again if I am back in that part of Germany.

Very good breakfast. Convenient location for golfing, hiking trips. Very good restaurant within walking distance. Unbeatable value for money! Norm, Suffolk, England.
