Just had a late dinner at this place with my wife. We didn't ask for the price list before ordering because we know eating in restaurants in the city is cheap. The guy serving there noticed we are not locals and charged us almost double the price. Overcharging of tourists is a widespread phenomenon in cities like Vlora and seems to be taking over in Gjirokastër as well.

Our group was treated to a lavish lunch with an impressive array of dishes. A fresh salads, a tasty vegetable soup, a flavorful eggplant dish and a well spiced piece of veal. Finally, a sweet dessert and fruit. Wow!Service was efficient and friendly.

The food was the best we have had in Gjirokaster, all the plates we have ordered were excellent (vegetables soup, stuffed eggplants and greek salad) with fresh products. The restaurant is managed by a lovely couple, very welcoming and attentionate, which is very pleasant in this touristic city. Moreover it is cheap, we payed 1200Lek for two people with 3 plates, water and one glass of wine.Don't be afraid by the cold aspect of the interior nor the simple menu with photos, the food is really excellent!

We were told if we ever drove by to stop and try the taverna out. So we did and simply the food was perfect. A very clean and tidy place with a wonderful staff service. We were so glad the waiter stopped us from over-ordering, we really appreciated that. By far the best place to eat if you are in the area.

The whole atmosphere is about being in an authentic Albanian home. You can have your lunch in a regular living room with a great Albanian family's service. The prices are so low we ordered everything on the menu to try out all the available Albanian food. The meals are representing the local traditional tastes and as the owner's Family is truly involved to the history of Gjirocaster. If you visiting the castle, it is a good opportunity to taste the original Albanian cousine.

Really nice Host, quit terrace that u canât imagine from outside! Really good menu , salat, pasta , pizza , meat , traditional food and sweets, all times fresh made. Nice friendly multilingual service. I love that place. We were here for two month in Gjirokastra for business issues and visited that lovely restaurant frequently. If u like good food and restaurants, go there!

The food was well cooked but totally forgettable, the service was friendly but very disorganised. We started with salads which were nice but identical to most other restaurants in Albania, for main course my wife had grilled pork which is exactly what it was, no rub, no dressing just slightly dry grilled pork. I had stuffed meatballs which arrived 15 minutes after my wifeâs dish - it was pleasant enough but certainly nothing special. We skipped desert as the rest of the meal had been very average and it felt like a waste of money and more importantly calories. Personally Iâd give it a miss and try one of the other great places in Gjirokaster but maybe we just caught them on a bad day.

My husband and I were here on his birthday, after a little look around we decided to try this little taverna for his birthday meal and oh boy, what a great decision that was!!!! Dont be fooled by the small establishment. The food is absolutely delicious and even better is the service. Despite being given a menu to choose from we were then taken inside to make sure we had decided correctly being shown all of the dishes on offer. To be honest we wanted to try them all!!!! At the end of the meal we were given complimentary raki and fruit which really sealed the deal. The true charm of the restaurant however came when we realised it was cash only and we only had card. The owner didnt bat an eyelid and was insistent we just come along tomorrow to pay - the trust and generosity of the family really blew us away. You definitely have to try this place if you're in town!!
