Dem Gitano sieht man die frühere Verwendung als Supermarkt nicht an, eine gelungene Verwandlung, besonders im Sommer. Die offene Front zum grossen Biergarten wirkt einladend, auch wenn dieser an der viel befahrenen Hauptstr. von Appen nicht sonderlich romantisch liegt. Das freundliche Personal servierte ordentliche und schmackhafte Gerichte aus der Steakhouse Ecke, stellte aber gegen 22.30 Uhr auch den Service merklich ein - in Appen geht man selbst an einem herrlichen Sommerabend am Wochenende wohl früher ins Bett als in einer Metropole. Sonderlich gut besucht war es nicht, so reichten die Parkplätze direkt am Haus gut aus. Vielleicht sind die Preise eine Spur zu hoch, das Bier war auf jeden Fall selbiges zu warm. Wir haben uns trotzdem wohl gefühlt und würden wieder kommen.

We had Roast beef the other day and it was average, but not excellent. The view is beautiful, especially when you can seat outside. The Schnitzel was als well a bit dry and only average

Prima eten bij Birkenhain. De kaart biedt voor elk wat wils en de porties zijn fors. Wel jammer is dat de grote zaal erg leeg is als het restaurant niet volledig gevuld is. De bediening is zeer vriendelijk. Het restaurant is enigszins gedateerd qua inrichting, maar niet sleets en het past eigenlijk wel bij de omgeving. Aanrader!

Definately a restaurant i like to go regularly for enjoying with friends very good and delicios food as well as cocktails.I can only recommend this place and especially the service which always remembers your favorite meals and drinks.

So first and foremost, the food is good and fairly priced. staff is really nice and professional - gets really crowded during lunch time on weekends as all the usual guests are coming. Iâve been there for lunch, dinner, seasonal food and other occasions and it was reliably nice. So highly recommended. Plus for the families: they do have changing room and are baby friendly!

Whe you dont expect much more to come but another farmer and more cows....there it is.Thatched roof,quite a few steps up to restaurant and there you have a view of the small river Pillau and across fields-just nature.Inside awaits you a wood panelled restaurant ,two guest rooms and friendly service.Fish is the speciality ,but meat dishes are also available.The portions are of a good size and well presented and I would advise to stick to the local fish and pass the exotic tuna for example.An "Ofenkartoffel" with the "Neptunplatte" is adventurous but does not really fit -or taste that good.A basic should be that bread is served with the soup...but we are in the country.You have to book and you should stick to beer- the wine is questionable.Altogether :a nice outing and a very reasonable meal -but not cheap.

Wir waren von A-Z sehr zufrieden. Das Lokal punktet zunächst durch das ausgefallene Ambiente, ist ein Mischung aus einem Restaurant und Dekoartikel Geschäft. Einige davon witzig und ausgefallen, jedenfalls spricht die Kombination an, das ganze Haus ist schön dekoriert und wirkt sehr anheimelnd. Bis unter das Dach gibt es über mehrere Ebenen grössere und kleine Sääle, Nischen und Stuben, das alte Bauernhaus konnte nicht behindertengerecht umgestaltet werden. Wir haben online den Sonntagsbrunch reserviert, wurden 2 Tage vor dem Besuch noch einmal telefonisch erinnert und freundlich zum nett eingedecktem Tisch geleitet, mit einem Piccolo oder O- Saft begrüsst und durften uns am grosszügigen und umfangreichen kalt- warmen Buffet bedienen, Getränke werden am Tisch serviert. Für 34.50 ⬠p. P. darf man einiges erwarten und wir wurden auch nicht enttäuscht , loben dürfen wir den frisch aufgeschnittenen Krustenbraten und die Dessertauswahl. Eine Reservierung ist unbedingt erforderlich, das Haus war nahezu ausgebucht. Der Service , überwiegend junge Mädchen, war ausgesprochen freundlich und zuvorkommend, es wurde ständig aufmerksam am Buffet nachgelegt, das Geschäft hatte die Küche und der Manager gut im Griff. Wir waren jetzt mehrfach hier, waren stets sehr zufrieden und können das Haus nur loben und weiterempfehlen. Das kurzfristig einer unser Gäste absagen musste, war übrigens überhaupt kein Problem.

Endlich ein Restaurant wo die Gerichte komponiert werden! Eine kleine, feine Karte, wo aber trotzdem auch Jugendliche etwas für ihren Geschmack finden. Dazu ein nettes Ambiente und freundliche Bedienung der Inhaber.

Fairly small place, old building with minimal modernisation. Food is truly excellent, decent portion size and yet refined in taste. Not the cheapest place in Uetersen but prices are reasonable for what you get. Quite probably best restaurant in townThanks for your comment. We had selected another restaurant for lunch, not realizing it was closed for vacation. Our local friend suggested Von Stamm, turned out to be a very good choice. The ambiance is old German, the staff very friendly and accommodating, the food delicious and plentiful. The menu offers German and international cuisine with a few North-German specialties added. The Schnitzels were excellent, my Sauerfleisch, a kind of local head cheese, was so so. Guess, trying some unknown dishes is not always a positive experience. An extra glass of Grauer Burgunder wine made up for it.We would come back if ever again in town.
