Wir hatten hier eine 35-Jähriges Klassentreffen mit Grillbuffet zum Abendessen. Die Location ist ja schön aber der Service blieb deutlich hinter den Erwartungen zurück.Begonnen damit, dass sich die Betreiber einen Tag vorher plötzlich nicht mehr an die Vereinbarungen halten wollten. Der Raum sollte plötzlich gegen einen deutlich kleineren getauscht werden. Es war gutes Wetter gemeldet worden, daher hatte man wohl Befürchtungen nicht ausreichend Platz für Laufkundschaft für das Café zu haben. Erst massiver Protest führte dazu, dass wir doch den geplanten Raum bekamen, allerdings wurde uns dann eine weitere Gesellschaft dazu gesetzt. Eigentlich wollten wir gerade statisches sitzen vermeiden, damit man mal mit allen ins Gespräch kam, dies war dann leider durch die Platzverhältnisse nicht mehr möglich. Wenn einer aufstehen wollte, musste man sich an den anderen Gästen vorbeidrängen oder diese mussten ebenfalls aufstehen-bei einem Buffet sehr lästig. Die immer leicht passiv-aggressive Art der Betreiberin machte die Sache nicht angenehmer.Vielleicht hätten wir alles schriftlich erfassen müssen, aber wer ahnt denn so etwas.Abends gab es Fleisch und Würste vom Grill, das war o.k., allerdings war das Salatbuffet mehr als sparsam. Wenig Auswahl, fade Dressings, hier hätte wir ebenfalls mehr für das Geld erwartet.Was gar nicht ging, war der Nachschub an Getränken, dies ging derart schleppend, dass man kaum seinen Durst stillen konnte. Dabei sollte man annehmen, die Gasstätte macht hierüber Umsatz, unverständlich. Der Service wurde mit späterem Abend immer schleppender und wurde um 0.30h ganz eingestellt und wir damit genötigt zu gehen. Wäre das 5 Uhr morgens gewesen hätte jeder Verständnis gehabt aber nicht um halb eins Samstag Abend.Uns wird das Waldschlösschen unter diesen Betreibern definitiv nicht noch einmal sehen!

The first thing that you feel by entering the restaurant is the cozy atmosphere. The menu is good with different entrees, main courses and desserts. The waiters do not speak English, just some words and the menu is not in English, just German. The waiters are most friendly though so it is really not a problem to get what you want!The food is good and delicious and you do get enough....There is a relaxed, nice atmosphere in the restaurant and I truly like to sit and enjoy my dinner in this restaurant in the heasrth of Jever!

We stumbled upon this place by accident, having not found anywhere else in the town which took our fancy. We were thus surprised to come across the most excellent restaurant, with amazingly friendly staff, excellent food, good prices, and great character and charm. In a town dominated by its eponymous brewery (which produces excellent beer too), this restaurant struck a unique note with its own, in-house, micro-brewery. It is well worth ordering the 'beer tasting platter' (or whatever it is called) and making an evening of it. There was a good range of food on the menu and the portions (particularly of the schnitzel) are huge. It is worth going easy on the bread and salad - and there is little need for a starter. The desserts, too, very tasty. We ate here for both nights of our stay in Jever - and had we stayed a third night, we would have dined here again.

Astronomers teach us about about variable stars, those singularly fascinating luminosities that lead a double life--sometimes brilliant, sometimes, if not dull, then lacking in luster. In the very small galaxy of restaurants that illuminate Jever, a small town on the way to Germany's famous North Sea island resorts, the brightest and yet also most variable of stars is surely the Haus der Getreuen, a classic German "Kneipe" or gastropub offering an assortment of regional specialty dishes as well as an assortment of local artisanal beers. The Haus der Getreuen benefits, in the first instance, from a superior location. At the top of a kind of culinary mall and just down the hill from the historical town center and shopping area, the restaurant serves as a two-way valve between the mainland and its economic services and the sea with its recreational ambiance and fresh air. The visitor is immediately uplifted by the handsome outdoor deck, where al fresco dining is available during the warm months and where sturdy dark woodwork and brilliant maritime light create a delightfully robust contrast. For those thinking of a winter visit to Jever, the indoor dining rooms, although likewise hewed from heavy oak, feature large windows and sprightly accoutrements that brighten and energize a dining space that suggests a hard-working Hanseatic sailing ship. Environments, of course, are mere nebulosities. Food is what makes a restaurant, and Haus der Getreuen delivers meals with punch, vitality, inventiveness, and, above all, delectable flavors. Our smoked pepper soup, for example, appeared in a kind of dwarf Mason jar, first stimulating the eye with unexpected plating and then alerting the palette with a vivacious contrast of dark chimney flavors and clear vegetable overtones. Similarly, classic north German dishes such as pork cutlets and pan-seared fish appeared in phantasmagorical displays--plates full of visual and textural contrasts--and demonstrated that the cuisine of the region, which has a reputation for, at best, homey quaintness, can compete with metropolitan culinary traditions and can add just the right burst of excitement and satisfaction to a long day in the sun or on the sea. Where the Haus der Getreun needs improvement is in the area of service. Perhaps owing to the legendary discretion and understatement of the north German people, the wait staff seems to lack social skills equal to the culinary acumen evidenced by the chef. Waiters and waitresses barely speak, have trouble timing their visits to the table, and seem confused by questions about their offerings. Staff members evidence considerable politeness and are trying hard, but they lack savoir-faire. Similarly, some evidences of rough cultural traditions--for example, wait-persons arms heavily tatooed with assorted adages--are a little too much in evidence. Overall, the Haus der Getreuen is the top choice in Jever. It would merit a five-star rating, at least in its gastropub category, were it to achieve a better alignment of its still-developing service tradition with its superb food offerings. The future is bright for this variable but strengthening star.

B. in Whv.) die sich ebenfalls auf Wildgerichte spezialisiert haben.Sehr positiv ist, das stilvolle Ambiente des âForsthaus Upjeverâ mit seiner Umgebung. Dort mitten im Forst Upjever, der zur Stadt Schortens zählt, steht neben der Revierförsterei das alte Forsthaus. Hier passt nicht nur optisch einfach alles perfekt zusammen, sondern dazu gehört auch der Restaurantschwerpunkt, mit seinen regionalen Wildspezialitäten. Laut Werbung, eine jahreszeitliche Küche auf hohem Niveau, die uns kulinarisch verzaubern sollte. Wir waren mit vier Personen an einem Samstagabend hier und haben u. a. Rehgeschnetzeltes für ca. 16.- ⬠gegessen. Diese Spezialität war sehr geschmackvoll und mit dem besonderen Pfiff auch sehr kreativ gut zubereitet. Nur die Fleischmenge â auch wieder im Vergleich zu den Mitbewerbern- war für uns einfach zu wenig. Hier sollte man aus unserer aller Sicht, das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis optimieren und anpassen.Sehr gut gefallen hat uns, zum Beginn der kleine Gruà aus der Küche, in Form vom frischen Brot mit leckerem Schmalz (passend zur Jahreszeit). Nicht herausragend war an diesem Abend der Service. So mussten wir uns melden, um bei den Getränken noch etwas nachzubestellen. Auch die Freundlichkeit der Anwesenden âbeim kommen und gehen-, war nicht gerade Kundenorientiert. Schade eigentlich, da wir uns hier etwas mehr âmit Bezug auf den sehr schönen Internetauftritt des âForsthaus Upjeverâ versprochen hatten. Zusammenfassend können wir das âForsthaus Upjeverâ, auf Grund der v. g. Anmerkungen und mit Bezug auf das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis, nur bedingt Weiterempfehlen.

In front of the towns railways station. A rustic, comfortable and cosy place with delicious kitchen.Real german taste with a decent selection of typical local dishes in all varieties. Deer, fish, wild hog, chicken, beef, German potatoes, spätzle, bratkartoffel, sausages, etc.Of course beer and spirits.The dishes are generously served and kept warm on the table.Enjoy

This restaurant was so good that we went twice in a week! Their fish is absolutely outstanding. They also catered to our needs when we had to select a dish for our seven-year old who has dietary restrictions.This restaurant is worth a trip to Jever!

Das Restaurant liegt auf der Strecke Accum - Grafschaft (Wilhelmshaven ca 10km). Parkplätze vorhanden. Das Restaurant ist etwas verwinkelt und die Stühle sind nicht übermäÃig bequem. Darunter leidet die Gemütlichkeit etwas. Dieser (kleine) Nachteil wird aber durch den auÃergewöhnlich frteundlichen Service wettgemacht.Die Speisekarte konzentriet sichj auf Fleischspeisen, die ansprechend serviert werden. Vor allen Saucen sind etwas zu scharf gewürzt. Insgesamt war es für uns ein gelungener Abend. Wir werden wiederkommen.
