The municipality is located in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is located on the south eastern edge of the Ruhr area, 15 km south of Dortmund, where the rivers Lenne and Volme (met by the river Ennepe) meet the river Ruhr. As of 31 December 2010, the population was 188,529. The city is home to the FernUniversität Hagen, which is the only state funded distance education university in Germany. Counting more than 67,000 students (March 2010), it is the largest university in Germany.

I had California Salad in Spinne. The portion was big and it closely resembled grill food. Choices of the veggies were typical: carrot, lettuce, tomato, onion. This seemed to be common theme on all of the salads if I understood the German menu correctly. There were some added peaches which added a little texture to this salad. The salad dressing was typical fast-food mayonnaise heavy dressing. The chicken was tasteless and needed plenty of extra salt and pepper to become even distantly enjoyable. The size of the portion was big. If I could understand the menu written in German properly it seemed to mostly contain grill/fast food.The service was alright and prices were cheapish. Atmosphere was just like in a typical bar/restaurant hybrid. I can only recommend this place if you are just looking to fill your belly with cheapish fast food. Maybe the drinks are better than food? I have no experience about that.

Wenn andere, bessere, Lokale geschlossen sind ist man hier gut aufgehoben. Nettes Lokal mit grosser Trefftheke und Speisezimmern. Gute, akzeptable Gerichte der lokalen, deutschen Kueche. Nicht schlecht, um den Tag entspannend ausklingen zu lassen.

Very manageable portions. The salad was uncreative. All in all a beer tavern rather than a restaurant. Good to watch the Bundesliga in public but for eats we better go elsewhere..

The restaurant is out at the square and we had a lovely few hours watching the world cup and with some great german food. We ordered the shnitzel and also the bavarian sausage and both were delicious along with the cold beer. They have seating out on the square and with the football game on, the place was crowded and we were lucky to get a vantage point near the TV screen. Inspite of the crowd and atmosphere the service was superb and food & drink was on our table quite quickly. Its worth visiting again and again.

Wir haben mit der Sportgruppe unsere Weihnachtsfeier im Wintergarten am Tanneneck gefeiert.Der Tisch war schön gedeckt und die ersten Getränke wurden aufgenommen.Das Essen a la Carte war vorab bestellt und wurde von 3 Servicekräften für Alle gleichzeitig und heià auf den Tisch gebracht.Alle haben das Essen und den Service gelobt. Auch die Gläser wurden schnell wieder gefüllt.Wir haben zu sehr fairen Preisen hervorragend und reichlich gegessen und sind zuvorkommend bedient worden .Herzlichen Dank. Wir kommen wieder.

Das Ambiente ist modern, die Tische im Speisesaal schön und hochwertig eingedeckt.Der Service ist freundlich und flott. Die servierten Gerichte sind her gut bürgerlich, aber handwerklich gut gemacht.Der Speisesaal wird, bei voller Besetzung, jedoch schnell lärmig, was eine Unterhaltung am Tisch erschwert.

Dresel is a FIND. It is located in the middle of Rummenohl, a very small little village in a scenic part of Sauerland. It used to be a sleepy hotel with a nice restaurant. It had a fire and is now truly a gem as many millions of dollars have obviously been spent on updating and refurbishing the place. We stayed in room 16 which was equipped with an absolutely incredible bathroom, complete with a soaking tub for two, a rain shower, and an assortment of bath salts and towels allowing one to make maximum use of the place. While the bed was comfortable, it is obvious most of the money has been spent on updating bathrooms, curtains, etc. But the story does not end there. There is a truly wonderful bar in the basement, completely redone and sophisticated and charming enough that you could be in the best bar in Berlin or Frankfurt. Big easy chairs combine with a nice vibe and good drinks, complete with a nice single malt selection not seen too many places in Germany. There is a huge outdoor area where you can eat and drink in the warmer months, and breakfast which is complementary is served in a light filled room where the sunshine shines through driving away winter outside. Breakfast was prepared to order along with a great selection of rolls, yogurts, fruit, etc.Service at the front dest was efficient and enough english spoken. Cost was a very fair 119 euro.This is a wonderful place to spend a night or several nights. The room is equipped with a nice notebook describing fully the area and several nice hikes or walks should you be so inclined. The restaurant is first class and amazing for this little village. Service is a bit retarded and in need of training, but food is outstanding and equal to the best of Duesseldorf or Cologne standards.ZB
