Reunion for 16 people

Booked Forter Castle as a party of 16. The location is Scotland on a post card and the castle itself is superb. The bedrooms are very well decorated, comfortable and large. The master bedroom is essentially a flat. The majority of our weekend was spent in the hall with its log fire, comfortable seating and large dinning table. The room is so well presented that I felt guilty we did not hire a chef to produce higher quality meals. The kitchen certainly provides the potential to create high quality meals. All 16 of us had a great time and I would defiantly come back again.

What an amazing, beautiful, stunning wedding venue! The attention to detail is phenomenal. From the minute you step into this beautiful castle, the staff are on hand to make sure everything goes smoothly and that you enjoy your stay. Chris, the Operations Manager, could not have been more attentive, he was even on hand with a tissue for me when I did the toast to people who are no longer with us which I found very emotional. A tiny little detail but it meant a lot to me and says a lot about the type of person Chris is. We were also very well looked after by Damian, Front of House, nothing was too much bother for him. Very well mannered and extremely good at his job. A huge thank you to everyone at the castle, you made our stay very memorable.

Carlowrie Castle

Carlowrie Castle is a 19th Century mansion house set amidst a 32-acre estate on Edinburgh’s doorstep. Sympathetically restored the house and its grounds create a remarkably lavish retreat that blends rich heritage with modern elegance and luxurious comfort. It is a stunning luxury exclusive-use property and events venue for corporate use, celebrations and special occasions. From the main entrance the vista to the grand hallway opens out to a light-flooded atrium with original flagstone floor and sweeping staircase to the upper level bedrooms. Carlowrie’s public rooms include a lounge, which has an exquisite black and white marble floor; a library with tall ornate bookcases, decorative cornicing and open fireplace. The contemporary interiors, scale and proportion of the rooms provide a dramatic showcase for the owner’s collection of Urban and Pop Art. The newly built Orangery with its hand-laid tumbled parquet floor and picture windows on all sides that romantically diffuse light and air throughout the space, is the perfect backdrop for weddings and special events. Sleeping 18 guests, Carlowrie Castle has seven beautifully appointed en-suite bedrooms on the upper level, with bathrooms featuring quarried Italian marble tiling, freestanding nickel and copper baths, walk-in showers and wireless speakers. The bedrooms are fitted with handmade beds and cabinetry and the bedding is equally as plush. On the lower ground sits ‘Carlowrie One’: a deluxe 115m2 two-bedroom, two-bathroom self-contained apartment with private courtyard, wood-burning stove and bespoke kitchen. Guests are able to take advantage of activities such as tennis, yoga, personal training, shooting and a range of spa treatments. The Castle is located eight miles west of Edinburgh and 10 minutes from Edinburgh International Airport.

Wedding 2022

My now husband and I had our long awaited wedding party at Carlowrie in May 2022 and really didn’t know what to expect as our original numbers went from 100 to around 60 due to friends/family international travel restrictions. We originally booked Carlowrie 3 years ago and we got to say that the Team at Carlowrie have been the most accommodating and understanding with our wedding being postponed not once but twice due to the pandemic. When it actually came to our day, it is an understatement of how incredibly smooth and stressful the Team makes you feel there. They are so proactive in the correct manner that you just cannot help but think ‘wow, this was worth every penny’. We had confetti to sort out and the bridesmaid team was going to do it upon arrival but they realised that the Carlowrie Team went and did it ahead of time! This is the definition of proactive! We are so happy that we chose Carlowrie for our wedding celebration. It’s a beautiful fairytale castle yet perfectly modern inside. The grounds are stunning and it’s a great venue to adapt to your own style. Every guest loved the entire experience offered too and spoke highly of the service. The guest rooms are super clean and the bridal suite is such a dream. The venue is elegant but I must hand it to the Carlowrie Team that they are extremely professional, kind and reliable . Everyone planning to do have their wedding at Carlowrie has definitely made ?% the correct decision. We are now thinking to perhaps have a special anniversary party back at Carlowrie when the time comes :) Thank you so much again!!!! X

Beautiful course with lovely views. But way overpriced compared to the hidden gems and other links courses of Scotland. Prefer Nairn, Cruden Bay, Tobermory and Montrose which was just 55£ after 15:00. Caddy was just ok and nothing like Nairn. Seems when Americans build in Scotland they forget that the local community is an essential part of a facilities sustainability. Castle Stuart has no local members and with prices like these one can understand why even it it had membership with the local community in mind.

What a beautiful place to play golf. The welcome and top service from the Director of Golf, David Thomson from start to finish was 5 star quality. The scenery is spectacular and eye catching. The golf course is hard but fair. A good variety of holes which require the use of every club in the bag. The clubhouse is fantastic with a friendly feel to it. The staff cannot do enough for you. Before heading out for a game I was shown to my personal locker where I found the Carnegie Links goody bag. The contents were amazing from a bag tag with your name engraved on it to many other golfing gifts. Lovely touch! After my round we sat down for lunch where again the service was 5 star. The day for us was not long enough and one visit is never enough. Hopefully we can re-visit again in the near future. The place is that special I can’t praise it high enough. Oh and the weather was beautiful too.
