Top 10 Capsule hotels in Tokyo Prefecture, Japan

May 23, 2023 Phylicia Berquist

Tokyo is the epitome of frenetic energy and jam-packed cosmopolitan culture—it’s populated by 12.5 million people. Still, it’s one of the safest cities in the world, ensuring a (nearly) carefree stay packed with pulsing nightlife, succulent cuisine and endless city experiences. Four national museums, gorgeous gardens and parks, Michelin-starred restaurants, and kooky-chic street fashions are only part of what makes Tokyo so unique. Don’t miss the Tokyo National Museum of Modern Art, the Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden and the Gwen Stefani-lauded neighborhood of Harajuku.

Would not accommodate COVID-19 cancellation

Reviewed By Aleksey G

My wife and I had booked a trip to Japan several months before COVID-19 became news. Our airline changed our flight details after the US recommendations to cease all nonessential travel and we had to cancel our trip. We had booked several hotels throughout Japan for our two week stay. Every single one of those hotels allowed us to cancel our reservation and receive a full refund except for this one. We reached out to the hotel management to see what options we had available, not only did they decline a refund request but they also would not honor a future booking using the amount we paid. Furthermore, instead of cancelling our reservation they instead marked us as a no-show despite having submitted the cancellation request weeks before we were to arrive. Based on our experience I would not recommend using their services.

Very good value for money

Reviewed By fcz5

It is cheap, people are nice, you are very close to landmarks and train/subway. The only problem is that if someone makes noise, you will definitely hear it, but other than that, it is a very good price for money, considering 7 nights are the cost of a single night in an average tokyo hotel.

Great stay

Whan a memorable experience! The hotel is so different than any other I've been before. Never been in a capsule hotel but I surely fell in love with this one! The hotel staff are very nice and always have a smile on their face. The rooms are quite spacious and very quiet. From reception I received my very own toiletries bag and an Iphone 5 with which I controlled the amenities in the room, such as the lighting. The whole hotel is made in a very modern style and is always clean and tidy. I'm definetly choosing it next time I'm visiting Tokyo.

Fun place to stay for solo travellers

Reviewed By laurengreeny

My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights in February 2020. I really enjoyed the stay. I thought it was an exciting and different experience for a really good price and in an excellent location. The bathroom facilities were great, as was the sauna. My boyfriend and I both agreed that the beds were not the comfiest and it was often difficult to sleep due to the volume of other guests on the corridor and that the corridor light was left on all night. Also, it was absolutely boiling! Staff were very helpful. Although this was a fun experience, I would recommend it for the solo traveller or friends of the name gender, not couples. Exciting for a few nights but if you're a light sleeper it's maybe not the place for you.

This hotel is a brand-new capsule hotel.

Reviewed By KazukoT27

If you have never had experience of capsule hotel, you would be surprised. There is only a bed in a room. But this hotel is much more comfortable than the other capsule hotel because room is big and tall enough that you can stand on the bed. It has a common shower room at 8th floor, which has a big bath. I love it very much. If you want a chat with friends and something to eat, you can stay at 6th floor, which has a small bar. And you can bring some food and drinks to eat there. No key of room. Only has a safe-deposit box in a room. You have to put your wallet, passport and something valuable into it. After you get used of it, you can enjoy staying.
