First capsule experience

Reviewed By HarryTours_Official

The Millennials in Kyoto was our first experience of this kind. We, a travelling couple, wanted to stay on the same floor (so a mixed floor was needed) and try out this experience for one night, before moving back into a classic hotel room. I have to admit that I enjoyed the cozyness of the room and the well thought-through design of the small space. So absolutely pleasant experience in that sense. What bothered me were the (in my opinion) unfavorable check-in /out times, which were not too customer friendly. The common room was pretty cozy as well, but the social hours in terms of drinks were short, so this could be extended as well in my opinion. All in all a good experience that I could see repeating in the future.

Place to enjoy and relax

Reviewed By nadeskin

As soon as you enter this place you are in a different world, away from the hectic city. You take your shoes off at the entrance and lock them in a cabinet while you get your own pair of slippers to wear inside. As you enter you smell the steam of the hot springs and hear relaxing music (this can become a bit too much after a while as the music is being played everywhere, even in every toilet, but i personally liked it as it added to the spa and wellness feeling). It is a worthwhile experience to stay in this unique place with its own small thermal baths, even one outdoor pool, steam sauna and hot stone bed. The cabines are comfortable, with soft and comfortable blankets and pillows and each cabine has a TV too. You can leave your luggage in the locker room, which is pretty spacious compared to other capsule hotels. There is a nice and large lounge too where you can get free coffee, tea or soft drinks or relax in a massage seat. The bathrooms are excellent and equipped with hairdryer, hair iron and all toiletries you can imagine. This has been the best capsule hotel I have been to in Japan! Highly recommended!

Super practical hostel with everything you need. I stayed in the private room and even though it was small, it offered everything I needed. You can lift the bed to store your bag, the shower and toilet where on the side of the room and the bed was soft and comfy. This place is located at 5 minutes walk form the station, so it is perfect if you are using the JR pass.

2 nights in Kyoto

Reviewed By zoedc91

We had to change our dates at short notice and the hotel were very accommodating. We arrived early but were allowed to leave our luggage in reception before we checked in. We booked into a mixed dorm which was designed very well so the pods were quite private. It wasn't noisy at all and we had individual lockers outside the dorm for our belongings. We found this hotel to be in a great location. What made it extra special was the onsen downstairs (male & female separate) which was the perfect way to unwind after a day exploring Kyoto. Bathrooms perfectly clean too.

Beautiful hostel and fantastic staff

Reviewed By lucymC3077QW

I stayed in this hostel for 2 weeks. Utsuwa is very clean, it is very unique and very pretty. The bed spaces are nice and spacious, and the bedding is soft. The space has it's own locker which is really easy to use! My only criticism is that the rooms get too hot and the bed space becomes even hotter with the curtain closed. The bathroom area is lovely! The bath is, well, it is the best bath ever; it is so deep, and the showers are lovely and hot. The staff are all incredibly lovely! A shout out to Kou, a very kind, talkative and helpful member of staff who bought me a Japanese green tea when I was feeling down. Thank you so much for kindness! I would, most definitely, book to stay in utsuwa again I cannot praise it enough!

We have stayed here for our 1st night during our Osaka trip. We chose this hotel because it is walking distance to the places that we wanted to see before heading out to the bigger places in Osaka. It is very convenient when it comes to transportation as the bus stop is almost in front of this hotel. We were not able to check the facilities as we only had to stay here and sleep and check out early. It was a nice experience.

My First Experience at a Cabin Stay

Reviewed By Sachin0408

On my trip to Japan and its various cities my friend suggested that we should try out their famous Pod stays. When I mentioned it would be difficult for me to adjust she agreed for a hostel kind of cabin stay accommodation. That is how I experienced my ‘Fist Cabin Stay’ which was more like a shared accommodation. I must confess I was not very happy with the arrangement. I mean its fine that some people can adjust to community living but I don’t fall in that category. The property had common shared spaces like bathroom and kitchen. It was new for me so I had to adjust just for the experience sake after all it was just for this one time. I won’t say negative things about my stay because I am sure other people / tourists cherish this kind of arrangement but not me. The cabin was too small, though security was no issue. Wi-Fi worked fine and breakfast was just cereals and bread toast. Toiletries were on the house so were clean towels. Reception was warm and you had to handover your keys every time you step out and then collect it on your way back.
