Great location, very lovely staff and owner manager

Reviewed By JamesMandy

Beautiful, tranquil hotel on the lake. Would return as an ideal place to chill out and enjoy the views, the location and walks. Staff were very efficient and helpful. I visited in May and unfortunately it rained a lot but would recommend. Perhaps the whole area gets busy in the main summer months but a shoulder may/June and September visit would be great. I think I was just unlucky with drving rain for 3 days!

Great experience

Reviewed By JanieTravel

Right from the start we were welcomed by very friendly staff (reception especially), we were explained and personally shown the facilities. The overall premises were clean and spacious, as well as rooms and bathrooms. All in modern and comfortable furniture and everything just felt pleasant. The room offers a fridge, so you can chill your vine and enjoy it on a nice balcony. The breakfast were delicious with great variety options (and trust me, my friend is very picky at this), you could also enjoy outside in the beautiful garden. We’ve also tried the pizza in the evening and also other food looked delicious. Just make sure to reserve a table upfront, it is obviously popular spot for dinner. There was a nice private entry to the lake, just be aware that the sunbeds are located a little further away from the water, as the wooden entry is smaller and serves only to get comfortably in & out the water. The facility has also a spa, bathrobe is ready in your room. The centre is located about 15 min walk away, or you can borrow a bike to get there faster. During the pandemic I also appreciated the desinfections & gloves wearing at breakfast bufet. Thank you for a pleasant stay!

Wonderful lake side location

Reviewed By Nievi1

The Kärtnerhof offers a kind of relaxing charm. It‘s a perfect place for a time out or few days stop over on your Austria trip. The private parking is an asset. The room was newly refurbished but interior design lacks a bit of class, however it was well equipped. Dinner and breakfast were outstanding (best we had on our 8 day Steiermark-Kärnten trip). All staff was super friendly. All in all great value for money.

A wonderful holiday by the lake at Portschach

After a wonderful weeks holiday in Portschach am Worthersee we stayed at Haus Kitty. Two very hard working hosts Nick and Emma made our stay one to remember. A spotlessly clean bedroom and ensuite with excellent amenities including fridge and kettle provided to make yourself a tea and coffee The breakfast was continental and a great choice available that set us up for our many walks around the scenic lake and woods. The scenery across the lake is breathtaking and the air is so pure. Haus Kitty is only a short walk from the lake with restaurants and bars including a train station which allowed us to explore the railway journeys available.Lets not forget the hidden gem inside the town, you must spend some time in here ,its a bakery that offers excellent all day food that was always busy and the locals love this part of Portschach if you get the chance to visit Klagenfurt we really highly recommend it , a beautiful cosmopolitan town with old and new buildings that offer a location to shop , drink wine and watch the world go by. We are so looking forward to gong back to this area of Austria again and especially another stay at Haus Kitty We also would be looking into flying to Saltzburg or Vienna so that we can take the train to experience more of the breathtaking train journey to Portchach Helen and Graham from Leicestershire UK

Fantastic, comfortable, friendly place

Reviewed By viera045

This is one of those places, where I could feel simply good since the first moment until we left. The house is on the hill with very nice view. The garden is well kept, you can spend a time there on the sunbeds just relaxing and looking to the lake. We had very comfortable apartment- it was spacious, very clean, cozy and light. It had big balcony and perfectly equipped kitchen including kettle, microwave, fridge. You find there basic things as detergent, salt, pepper, sugar and the rest you can buy in Spar on the bottom of the hill. I went there every morning for the bread instead of excercise- it was very nice walk. However, if you want, you can have full breakfast for very good price in the pension or ask for bread delivery. The family which runs the pension is also big plus there. The lady on the reception as well as her daughter were naturally nice and friendly and made us feel welcome and comfortable. The bed was maybe a bit softer but for me so good that I had the best sleep I could imagine. The house has also private beach and that is probably essential in the summer as I could not see any public beach on the shore. The house is perfect base for trips around and ladies on the reception will give you perfect tips and information. I can recommend the visit of lakes around as Millstatter see, Ossiacher see, or Weissensee. I can highly recommend also visit of Kranjska Gora, which is about 40 minutes from Pörtschach and it is spectacular.

The property and rooms are very nice and comfortable, but the highlight for me was the owners. They were very friendly and helpful, gave us some good recommendations for dinner and travels the following day. The room and bed were very comfortable, they had a good breakfast the next morning. The room had nice views out the windows. The deer ranch next door was interesting too.We had 2 large suitcases, packing them upstairs was not easy.

Very VERY racist and unhelpful staff

Reviewed By maby

You could feel the discrimination and racism in the skin. These people seem like a way out of Nazism. My son is from Haiti and not only in this hotel but in the small town we lived 2 horrible days. We left 1 day earlier and went to another lake because here we felt that they treated us badly because of my son's ethnicity. When we asked the way to the lake, they barely explained it to us. On the way back we got lost and had to walk a lot. The employees (who I think are the owners) of the most unpleasant Very sad
