We live in Portschach am Worthersee so have visited this restaurant a few times. It has a lovely view. Food is very good and the lunch special is incredibly good value for money.

Poertschacher Stuberl

Reviewed By Zuevy - Moscow

This is small enough restaurant that is placed directly on Hauptstrasse. There are two many things to need to say about. First of all, almost all meals here are in Austrian home style, to say more - in country style. The variety of meals is not so big but all are tasty and authentical. The second moment is connected with service in Stuberl. It is very friendly and very fast. You need to visit this place to try real Carinthian hospitality. By the way it is very easy to reach Stuberl as by walk (in case you are living in Poertschach) as by car if you are travelling thorough Carinthia.

Great local cuisine. Fresh water fish, very tasty Austrian dumplings, lovely dessert. Friendly, well-trained, English-speaking staff. What a wine we had! If only the place was closer to home ...

Our first visit to Portschach and one outstanding highlight was the Backerei Wienerroither! As you step up to the door you are greeted by the wonderful aroma of freshly baked breads and a display of cakes and pastries to die for!
Additionally the Restaurant Menu is extensive and well priced and the quality and quantity of the food is excellent so if you are in the area the Backerei Wienerroither is a must!

The place is amazing, but only in a sunny day ,as it is builed on water . There are few tables only ,and the atmosphere is relaxed and club-like . The food is great ,but it takes a long time to get it, after order . So, if you have time , enjoy the view , taste a glass of white wine ,and wait for your "vitello tonato " for ex , for the quality is worth the waiting. It is a place with great history ,architectural tresure, and the best view of lake Worthersee.

Dani and Tomas made our evening memorable. Everything we have had was impressive. First the interior was decorated like a country house where you feel very relaxed.
second the menu was not too long, but has all the variety of meet, fish and vegetables. We had a salad, good appetizers and as a main dish we took fish(imported ocean) that was delicious and weal steak also good.
If you are around do not miss the chance to stop there.
PS. you need a reservation beforehand. it's always full. T.04272/44118

Food basic, menu basic, quality basic. Right on a busy road so something needs to be better for a return visit. Maybe eating inside is the answer, but on a summer evening there are better offerings locally.

The restaurant is right on the main street, so very convenient if you are looking for someplace to walk. The staff is super friendly, the food is okay, but nothing special, although perhaps it was just our choices.

Da Franco

Reviewed By EuUsa-RobDL - Connecticut

I visited Da Franco a few times mainly because it was within a stones throw from my hotel. I found the food to be very good, and the bar definitely up to standard. You have the option to eat inside or sit outside in season.
The staff was professional but didn't go the extra mile to make you feel welcomed. This is imperative in a town like Portschach -- it exists for tourists. They made me feel every bit like the outsider I was.
I was there in what is considered a very slow time in the city in which there really isn't much going on, or many restaurants even open for business. So I sat at the bar surrounded mostly by locals who knew one another. Conversation with the bartender was like pulling teeth, or trying to get a kite off the ground without wind! A few words, then move on, seemed to be the desire of the staff.
If you go to Da Franco for some good food and drink and don't expect anything more, have fun. It's pretty good food. Especially the Tortellini ! But if you're traveling alone and looking for conversation or that welcomed feel, keep walking on down the street because you won't get it here.

Very good restaurant. Typical atmopsphere, laso with garden; kind waiters dressed in traditional clothes. Excellent food; not really budget prices, but aligned with local standards: and very good food for value
I strongly advise to make a reservation, which is necessary in high season or during the weekend
