Hightlight of My Honeymooon Trip

Reviewed By Yolandacalista

I went to Konansou appox. December 2018 for my Honeymoon trip. I can confidently say that staying in Konansou was definitely the highlight of my honeymoon trip. I got a japanese tatami room, facing the lovely Kawaguchiko, and ot was so comfortable. The service was excellent too, the service you would expect from Japanese Hospitality. The kaiseki dinner was amazing. They have a rooftop where they have a foot onsen, with a clear view of Mount Fuji. We got lucky that we could see the mountain clearly. The onsen was superb too, the perfect way to end the night. It was a really awesome experience. I would stay again for sure at Konansou.

This place is incredible. Staff were very rh friendly, welcoming and helpful. Stunning setting looking over the lake Kawaguchiko. Calm serene corridors. Beautiful traditional rooms with futon on tatayama mats with large window views. Private onsen good value for money and public onsen also had beautiful views. All very clean. Toiletries really lovely. The Yukata we were loaned to wear were beautiful and so comfy. Finally, the set meals are 100% worth including. Absolutely stunning array of traditional Japanese cuisine over 7+ courses. We were very contented and very relaxed staying here - so much so we stayed another night last minute.

We had 3 nights here and wish we had stayed 1 because everything shuts down by 5pm. We had breakfast booked but I didn't like it so let my husband eat it. Hotel was clean and tidy and staff were nice. Shuttle bus service is great and very reliable. Right on the bus line too which is good. There were alot of loud students in the hotel and we complained and luckily it stopped. Theres some lovely shops and of course the cable car up to see the view of Mt fuji.

Great host, good value

Reviewed By KayeL_12

We loved staying at Ryozan Yamanakako Ryokan whilst at the Fuji Five Lakes area. The price can’t be beat, especially compared to other accommodation around the area. Pros: - spacious family room (it cost the same as a double room so I booked it, even though for just the two of us). The double room would have been sufficient for two anyway! - super clean - every sink had hand soap and paper towels. Not common in the many Japanese guest houses we’ve stayed at...! - the lady at the reception was very friendly and helpful :) - good internet (good enough for Skype video calls) - homey feel- like a cross between a good backpackers hostel and a ryokan because it still had free amenities like green tea, towels and toothbrush/toothpaste and toiletries - Good price - about 7,500 yen per night for two people. Good price for one of the Fuji five lakes and last min booking. - Owner speaks great English (spent some time living in Australia) and has a cute dog (Australian kelpie!). - Has in room fridge and the kitchen area (however it only has microwave and kettle) is open between 3-9pm and 7-10am to reheat your meals. - Lots of info re buses and getting around. - Cheap bike rental: 1,500 yen per day compared to at another place we saw charging 2,500 yen per day. - Has vending machine for drinks and she sells some instant noodles and coffee pods at a reasonable price. Cons: - a bit far away from bus stop (10 minute walk) and is away from main shops on the Main Street. Not a problem if you have a car. - 20 min walk to the nearest kombini (7-11). - Unfortunately does not serve meals: otherwise this would be perfect! (For the convenience) - check in / staffed only from 3-10pm but allows baggage storage. - Only shows up in Japanese characters on Google Maps. - Public bath available from 7-10pm, best just after 7 when the water is freshly drawn. Otherwise it’s a bit cool later in the evening (logically, because the bath water is just sitting there). But you can also have a shower (Japanese public bath style) from 6-9am. If you’re not used to not having your privacy when you shower, this might be a problem... however other guests weren’t in the shower when I showered. All in all a great stay for a great price in the Yamanakako area which is much less busy than Kawaguchiko.

A nice ryokan on Yamanakako lake with the great Fuji on the back. Make sure you book the room on the third floor with Fuji san view. Onsen is good with a small out door onsen. Ryokan with great Mt. Fuji view and great services

Reviewed By Mingi S

I strongly recommend the travellers who want to see a diamond Fuji in February. This location is brilliant. The most impressive thing is the hotel service. I came to the hotel by public transportation (bus from Shinjuku st.). So, I asked the hotel to pick me up at the nearby bus stop (i.e., the Yamanaka Asahigaoka bus terminal). The hotel's staff came to pick me at the bus stop and took me to where I can see Mt.Fuji around the lake (like a tour guide). The staff used translator application to communicate with me in English (of course, he can select the other languages as well). The staff kept explaining about Yamanaka lake a where I can see Mt.Fuji clearly and famous location for taking photos at this lake. On the way back to the station, the staff took me to the other way around Yamanaka lake to see swans and took me photos. This is very lovely service. A free coffee service is provided at the lobby and vending machine for the other drink, like a welcome drink. This hotel is a Japanese style, called Ryokan, with Futon and tatami. I can see some part of Mt. Fuji from inside my room. The room has private toilet and bath room. In addition, the hotel also provide onsen (Japanese hot spa) that can see the garden outside. The location is good for relaxing and taking a rest. The hotel surround with a forest. You can hear birds singing. On the top floor of the hotel, you can see Mt.Fuji and Diamond Fuji with your naked eyes. Near by the hotel, there are French and Italy restaurants, but they are closed on the day I stayed. So, I totally recommend the travellers to reserve the hotel breakfast and dinner. It is worth doing so because you can see Mt. Fuji at the dining room in the morning. In addition, the breakfast and dinner are also good as Japanese ryokan-style. There is no convenience store near by. The travellers who has no private car should prepare other snacks or food. However, hotel sells some snack for souvenir at the lobby, such as wine, Japanese sake, etc.

Ryokan

Clean but needs sprucing up and better service.

Reviewed By D500QImatthewl

The positives: The ryokan is clean and has a nice big bath that is open only from 7pm-11pm. It is a good 10 minutes walk to the nearest convenience store, but only about 5 minutes walk from the Yagizaki Park where you'll get a brilliant view of Mount Fuji. The negatives: The Japanese owners have sold it to new Chinese owners and the service is a little lacking. They seem to cater to Mainland Chinese guests mainly. There were no breakfast or dinner available. There were holes in the papered sliding doors and gaps in the door that let in a cold draft. The heater in the room was quite old and noisy and ineffective. Also they offer no transportation here, so you'd have to take a Taxi from the train station for about 1,000-1,200 Yen.

There are several things that people need to be aware of before booking this place, they are not good or bad necessarily, just facts that might not be very clear beforehand: the shower room is public, 4 people can shower at the same time, without any walls or curtains or whatever, just like in a school gym; it's an old Japanese house, this means that the walls are very thin, the stairs screech, you can hear people laughing from the opposite end of the house; the distribution of space is different, because it's an old Japanese house everything might seem a tad small; there are no beds, you sleep on a bunch of mats on the floor, the owner speaks 5 words in English but somehow communication is possible, you only get a small towel, really really small towel. Now for the issues: it is disgustingly filthy, especially the bathrooms, I have seen the owner clean the toilet bowls but that's about all that is being cleaned daily, everything else seems to have had their latest encounter with a cleaning product in the 70's. There are stains on the walls, on the sink ( that actually stank as I bent down to wash my face), the same strands of hair that were in the shower the day we checked in were there when we checked out 2 days later (probably there since the 70s too), there was sludge on the bathroom floor, you can feel it between your toes, our door was kind of broken, it didn't close well. The good : the price is very good though, compared to the average price of the area, they offer free transfer to the station in the morning, the rooms on the front side of the house do overlook Mt. Fuji which is nice.

The room itself is fully equipped with normal expectation. We were a group of 12 travelling. Last night dinner was well prepared in advances before of our arrival. They served sushi as a starter. We all know that it have to be served fresh instead of sitting on the table with no cover. I am expecting they do much better than that. Some customers filles up their own bottles of the restaurant's soft drink. Ok, they should have asked 1st but the restaurant manager rasied his voice to tell off cusotmers. That is a NO NO! You can forget the beauty surrounded the hotel. Mt Fuji at the back of the hotel. I know English is not their 1st language but there should be at least few personnel available when is required.
