Room smelt strongly of cigarettes and very dirty especially carpet and walls & bedding ... good location though

Reviewed By TravelWithSophie

Hotel check In is 3pm , no movement on the time as they won’t have the room ready on time beforehand. Even if you ask nicely. Hotel has a small reception area and not much room . so you will find yourself waiting with other guests in busy periods at check in time. Our room smelt like cigarette, even though on the hotel listing says smoking permitted. I didn’t understand this ... as most hotels say smoking room or non smoking room. The walls had coffee splashed on them which was bizarre and I’m not sure why the cleaner did not spot this . Also the carpet is very dirty and also the dark brown color hides the hair on the carpet . I was scared to put my feet on the floor before going to bed , made me cringe. The duvet cover is a dark blue and is not like a usual hotel bed cover. It was full of white marks and also dusty. I don’t know how these issues can be overlooked by the staff. Bathroom is very small and you can barely comfortably use the bath or the sink area without banging your arm or body on something. Television has nothing English, only Japanese channels. Wardrobe is very small for only one night usage. Good thing is that they give you complimentary skin care kits on arrival which is a nice touch . I had not many options during golden week in Japan. So had to book this . Don’t think I would stay here again. He location is the only good thing about this hotel. They are lacking basic cleanliness and should at least spot dirt in the rooms before handing to guests. But the amenities is good and also the location.

Family Holiday

This Hotel fairly new situated 5 minutes walk from Kayabacho and Hatchobori station, easy to get around. There were quite a few places to eat as well as 7eleven for basic snacks The Hotel was clean and neat the rooms are very tiny 17sqm in size, we had a room with 2 double beds accomodating 2 adults and 2 teenagers 4 suitcase's we just couldn't move.. The staff were very polite but not much english spoken so it was very hard to communicate, and obtain assitance.

Highly recommend for Disney

Reviewed By Luluzz

We had a great 7 day stay here when we visited Tokyo Disney as part of our honeymoon. The room wasn’t too small at all and suited us fine. The staff were super friendly and respectful at every interaction. To our surprise, there were a few perks like toothpaste, robe and slipper usage and free tea and coffee all the time The breakfast was great, we looked forward to it every day and there was plenty of variety. The pastries did not run out as other reviews suggest. The staff were proactive in making sure food didn’t run out. The only thing that was a problem about staying here is that the direct buses to Disneyland and Disneysea (and even sometimes the local bus to the train station) are often packed and you can’t get on them. The bus drivers were friendly and tried to get as many people on as they could but we suggest allowing heaps of time to get there in case the first few buses are full. Also there was sometimes a strange smell in the bathroom and in the neighbourhood which we thought was wastewater. But we had a highly enjoyable stay and we thought it was amazing value for money. The perfect place to stay if visiting Tokyo or Disneyland.

The best and the worst thing: near the station

Reviewed By Jenni K

I picked this hotel purely because of the location and the price. Right next to the Nippori station. You'll have to find the right door and go to 3rd floor by elevator to reach the reception. Staff was nice and tried their best to communicate, even though their English was not good. I got to leave my luggage there supervised for a couple of hours, as I arrived before I could get to my room. I got a smoking room (I don't smoke inside but didn't have a choice about the room when booking via a third party) and the smell was horrible, but I knew beforehand that would be the case, and fortunately there was fabric freshening spray which really helped. I didn't expect best quality when I didn't pay a whole lot, and I think I got what I paid for. A safe, clean place to rest between exploring the city. The room had basic cleanliness, but clearly everything was somewhat old and a bit worn out. There were nice restaurants near this hotel, and the Yanaka Ginza street, old cemetary and Fabric town are just a couple of steps away. The best thing about this hotel is the location next to the station. The Yamanote line stops in Nippori and takes you for example to Ueno, Tokyo station, Shibuya and Harajuku quickly. Unfortunately the best thing about the hotel was also the worst. My room's window was facing the station (no view whatsoever, just a grey wall) and I could clearly hear all the noises. The trains don't bother me one bit, but all the other noise, such as announcements, jingles (yes... the trains have jingles) and warning tones were super loud and disruptive. It went on until 12 at night and started again at 5 am. I had ear plugs with me but didn't sleep too well with them, because I usually don't wear them at night. But to be able to get some sleep they were absolutely necessary. So bring them if you're staying in this hotel and I really mean it. Overall, not a stylish place, but functional. Wouldn't stay here again though, because of the station being so loud.

Very hard bed

Reviewed By Gill A

The bed was very hard and I could feel the springs, so I folded the duvet in half, slept on one half and had the other half over me My room overlooked four busy roads, three of them overpasses right under my window so could be extremely noisy It's very handy for airport buses, as the terminal is just across the road. There are lots of shops and restaurants in the area If you don't put, the clean my room sign on the door, they don't go in, so if you want clean towels and coffee for the morning you have to pick them up from reception Not a bad place to stay before or after a flight

EXCELLENT VALUE

We visited Kasai to watch our Grandson/Son play baseball nearby and were lucky enough to book into this great little hotel. We had a double room on the ninth floor which was huge by Japanese standards and was really well equipped, was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Our deal included breakfast at the Cafe Max downstairs which catered for both Western and Japanese tastes.Kasai is a fascinating undiscovered area and this is a great place to stay.

Traditional Japanese aesthetic in a vibrant Tokyo neighbourhood

Reviewed By tdefab

I don't see how you could find fault with this hotel. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and everyone I came across had perfect English. The location is excellent; less than a five minute walk to Shin Okubo on the Yamanote (loop) line, and amidst all of the great Korea Town restaurants and shops. The room itself was very large, and had all necessary amenities plus some nice extras which you don't always see now, like mouthwash, and a refrigerator. The shikibuton (Japanese mattress/futon) was super comfortable and I slept really well. I didn't use the communal facilities like the laundry and kitchen but those could be a great asset for many travellers. I can't believe they aren't charging more for this place!

Great spot and wonderful staff

Reviewed By erinktaylor

We had a great week at City Pension Zem during our visit to Tokyo. This hotel is tidy and comfortable, and it’s close everything! Just a short walk away from 2 stations that can get you just about anywhere (Ningyocho and Suitenguame) and a short walk from several 7/11’s and a few good restaurants. We will for sure stay here again if we visit Tokyo in the future. Thank you!
