Find out what Nepali restaurants to try in Lhasa. Deep in the spectacular Himalayan Mountains, Lhasa is a jewel of a destination. Potala Palace, the former residence of the Dalai Lama, is a major attraction, but you’ll also find numerous important temples and even the world’s highest brewery.
Things to do in Lhasa
Visited this restaurant during my recent visit to Lhasa. Located at Barkhor Area near Jokhang Temple. Entrance located beside a shop along the road leading to Snowland Hotel. Small metal stairway leading to a neatly decorated restaurant at 1st Floor. Has cuisine specializing in Chinese, Western, Tibetan and Nepali. Ambiance was great with romantic dim lights, soft music and magazines to read as well. Took the Nepali non-veg thali platter. Was greatly surprised as the food tasted superb. Recommended was their coffee with cow's milk - really addictive and good ( Good coffee in Tibet is hard to get ). Menu was impressive though not able to sample more dishes. Visited again the next morning for their breakfast and coffee. Highly recommended place to chill out for good tasting meals.
This lovely roof top top restaurant overlooks Jokhang Square ,the mountains and the pray flags. If you look out and not down you will not notice the riot squad vehicles and the military. There is an extensive menu in English and the food and drinks are well priced. The staff are delightful.I ate here for 4 nights.

They don't serve really any Tibetan food but their Indian is actually pretty great. Good place for your first Lhasa beer as well.

Serving American, Indian, Nepali, and Tibetan cuisine, this restaurant is a great place to come to for some variety and awesome selection of dishes.
We ate here as a group, but got to order separately. Nice location, right downtown, but the restaurant faces a peaceful courtyard (we ate inside in the cool weather) away from the hustle and bustle outside. Varied menu that included Nepali and Indian cuisine as well as Tibetan and Chinese. The Chicken Tikka was delicious as was the dal bread. A nice surprise was an espresso bar! A very enjoyable experience -- I wish that we had had a little more time to linger there.

Wonderful food in a cozy restaurant gives you a variety of options were many dishes come highly recommended.
A convenient place for lunch before or after the temple visit. They serve Chinese Indian Nepalese and local dishes. The Yak steak was unique and more tender than local beef. The masala tea was weak. The space is large with a small kitchen. Be prepared to wait if the place is crowded. On a whole a decent meal.

After touring Jokhang Temple we were brought here, first to shop then to eat. We had to pre-order our dishes opposed to sharing. On our table was chicken curry, vegetable curry, sizzling yak with fries and noodles, yak pizza, cheese pizza and for the most part it seems our group liked their lunch. The servings were quite large. I ordered the sizzling yak with fries. Was not expecting the noodles or steamed vegetables. The yak was cooked nicely and came with a gravy over the top. Mostly what it lacked was flavor. My veggies were great as were the fries. Our service did seem slow for pre-ordered food and half the table finished before some had barely been served. Another not so good thing is stairs have to be climbed to the restaurant. Good thing there is a Western toilet.
