We stayed for 5 nights and enjoyed it a lot. The rooms were clean and spacious (we were in the separate building). The decor may not be the most fashionable but we didn't expect that. The staff were friendly and we had fun renting skies (we went in February). We had our 7 month old son with us and everyone was friendly, helpful and there was no issue with the mess he made sometimes at meal times. We are thinking about staying again with them around New Year.

Traditional Thuringian German food that's simply like home cooking. Many "wild" dishes such as lamb and elk on the menu. Extensive beverage and food menu. Charming, rustic atmosphere. Wonderful service. Loved this place. Will go back again any time I'm in the area.

In den heutigen Zeiten spricht man viel von der Servicewüste Deutschland. Hier im Waldschlösschen ist davon keinerlei Spur, denn hier ist der Gast gern gesehen und wird mit einer herzlichen Art behandelt, dass man sich einfach nur Willkommen fühlt.Das Ambiente lädt zum erinnern ein, denn hier legt man Wert auf Tradition und die eigene Geschichte. Dabei hat man nie den Eindruck des Kitschigen. Der hausgemachte Kuchen ist einfach nur ein Gedicht, jedes Bemühen irgendwie diesen Kuchen zu beschreiben ist vergebens. Man MUSS ihn einfach probieren und wird einfach nur begeistert sein. Wir kommen bestimmt wieder, auch wenn der Weg Weit ist.

We set out for a late dinner. The restaurant recommended by the hotel was no longer serving dinner but they suggested Restaurant Vilott. Some chairs were already turned up on the tables. We asked if they were still serving dinner and they gladly invited us in. They made us feel quite welcome. The menu offered a nice mix of entrees including vegetarian. I love the German food but it's nice to have a variety of cuisines. Our group of four offered both traditional German and other entrees and everyone was pleased. The portions were quite generous and really tasty!

The menu outside gives the impression of limited fair, this isn't the case. Thuringia is the centre of Schlager music so if you can grin and bear the radio channel they play and the guests tapping, humming and whistling along its a great place. You'll have problems in any case escaping from Schlager in this area from the poshes to the worst place.The pizzas are good, Snitzel good. Didn't try the steak. Enough menu choice for veggies from the pizza and pasta options.The waitresses keeps the glasses full and there is no pretentious service that one found in the current TripAdvisor #1. Outside and in dining.Prices are good.

Wenn wir im Urlaub in unserem Wochenendhaus in Bad Tabarz sind, gehört die Bratwurst an diesem Stand einfach dazu.Wirklich lecker vom "Grillmeister" gegrillt und von hervorragender Qualität.Dazu ein locker-lustiges Schwätzchen mit dem Meister.Der Stand hat eine günstige Lage:direkt an der StraÃe. Während wir unsere Bratwurst verzehren, beobachten wir, welche Fahrzeuge alle hier kurz abbbiegen und wetten darauf.Leider gibt es montags nicht die hervorragenden Brötchen vom nahegelegenen Bäcker Stamm aus Schnepfental, weil er montags geschlossen hat.

This cozy place made us a perfect meal. We went for the surprise menu. And that us what it was. None of the items was in the menu. We started with a tasty red beet/cucumber and cold cuts inlaid soup. Main course consisted of juicy tender venison on bed of ceps mushrooms and polenta brought to perfectly balanced forest dinner. We finished with a 3 piece desert nicely decorated.

Having taken the tram from Gotha up to the end of the line at Trabanz and then walked down a beautiful woodland trail to the pretty town of Friedrichroda, we chanced upon this restaurant and stopped in for lunch. It was a pleasant and rustic old place, unpretentious but comfortable. We enjoyed game soup and dark beer. Having since discovered via their website that they also are a hotel and offer half-board package deals at great prices, we plan to return. This just may be an undiscovered gem.
