Things to do in Singapore, Singapore: The Best Cooking Classes

December 13, 2021 Esmeralda Fenner

The Singapore cityscape looks like it was ripped from the pages of a science fiction comic book. If you’re hungry for a true Singapore experience, sample the myriad street foods or take a cultural cooking class. The Botanic Gardens and the Gardens By the Bay offer a slice of horticultural heaven, and the observation deck of the Sands SkyPark makes you feel like you’re high above the clouds. The banks and walkways along the Singapore River bustle with local activity.

Love that you get a hands on cooking experience while learning about the food culture and history of Peranakan food in Singapore. Mary was a terrific tutor sharing her own family experience and upbringing. Daniel (owner) is the champion of this meaningful social cause, which is to help more stay-at-home mothers return to the workforce by providing them with meaningful flexible employment opportunities so they can stay connected to society, earn some income for their family and regain their self-confidence. I did a ‘four recipes in one afternoon’ cooking class with The Baking Loft. Lena was our host and she was truly excellent. Very knowledgeable and skilled. I asked lots of questions about the technique and ingredients and she was able to answer everything. It was a fun and well-paced class and I now feel confident that I could make all four recipes at home. Highly recommended!
