Things to do in Singapore, Singapore: The Best Bars & Clubs

April 4, 2022 Karren Gelb

The Singapore cityscape looks like it was ripped from the pages of a science fiction comic book. If you’re hungry for a true Singapore experience, sample the myriad street foods or take a cultural cooking class. The Botanic Gardens and the Gardens By the Bay offer a slice of horticultural heaven, and the observation deck of the Sands SkyPark makes you feel like you’re high above the clouds. The banks and walkways along the Singapore River bustle with local activity.

Origin Bar

Complementing its interior design that celebrates train travel, the concept at Origin Bar centres around a journey of discovery of the 5 key districts of Singapore, the hotel’s hometown: Orchard Road, Chinatown, Little India, Boat Quay and Marina Bay. Inspired cocktails are hand-crafted by a team of young mixologists with a fierce passion for what they do. To create Origin Bar's cocktail menu, Bar Manager Adam Bursik took a deep dive to immerse in local produce, enjoying the abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables in Singapore’s tropical climate.

Wow - what an awesome place! I was visiting Singapore and a friend had recommended that I stop in. I immediately met Zurina and Kamil who was so incredibly friendly and immediately made me feel at home. The space is extremely nice and well-done without being stuffy or pretentious at all. It is a truly comfortable environment with first-class, friendly staff. I came in for one drink and ended up staying for 5 hours!! My husband and I visited on a friday between 8pm and 10pm. We were very surprised (pleasantly so) by the $40pp cover charge which got us 2 drinks, access to the rooftop bar and an excellent live band. It was fairly quiet, presumably coronavirus related, and we were quite early, so had perfect access to the astonishing views over Singapore. The views alone make this well worth a visit, but the live band was an added bonus. Thoroughly recommend.
