Springfield Estate Winery

Springfield Estate is a family owned wine estate situated in the Western Cape of Southern Africa. The Bruwers are descended from the French Hugenots and have been farming this land for five generations. At Springfield Estate, we are passionate about our craft. We believe that our name is our most precious possession, and our motto, Made On Honour, applies to every facet of our being. Our wine at Springfield Estate is made from single vineyards, mostly using natural yeast. This allows the character and the individuality of the grape to truly show itself. Due to our natural yeast fermentation, we strive to work as naturally as possible, both in the vineyard and the cellar.

Excelsior Wine Estate

Reviewed By Mobile35942195053 - Bristol, United Kingdom

This wonderful wine estate, where we were actually staying at the Excelsior Manor guesthouse, is set in such a beautiful location just off the R317. As residents for 4 nights we enjoyed the best hospitality throughout our stay, something that was never surpassed in the 3 weeks of travelling in South Africa. The wine estate offers wine tasting at the delightful wooden tasting room on the dam, wine creation, where one can taste and then blend the different wines to create your own bottle just to your own palate and brunch/lunch at the deli, the Graze restaurant. Fabulous lunch on arrival, taken at Graze and enjoyed on the lawn outside, we did our wine tasting(free to residents), in the early afternoon before enjoying the facilities that the Manor Guesthouse offers- the golf buggy around the estate is a bonus. Always a pleasure to be here, like a home from home. Arrived as the temperature started to soar- summer had arrived.

This was our first visit and we all agreed it would not be our last. We were warmly greeted by our host Cara who showed us to a lovely outside table where she bought us a welcome glass of bubbly. We ordered a cheese platter to accompany our tasting and were thoroughly impressed with both the presentation and the quality of the food. Cara was very friendly and helpful and played excellent chilled music in the background which made the experience quite relaxing and suited the ambiance of the courtyard. We enjoyed tasting their different wines with each of us ordering bottles of our particular favorites to take back home. We all agreed that this was one of the most memorable experiences we have had on our many wine tasting holidays.
