Municipal Market of Sao Paulo

Housed in a stunning example of eclectic industrial architecture, the Mercado Municipal de São Paulo — nicknamed the Mercadão — has thousands of food items on offer, literally from soup to nuts. Lush tropical and temperate fruits from every season, choice cuts of meats and fish, and hearty prepared foods, such as the renowned and enormous mortadella (bologna) sandwich, complete the market's catalog of wares, all for sale in a boisterous, welcoming atmosphere. The surrounding area can be a bit sketchy, but the sights and flavors more than make up for the journey downtown.

I visited the feira on Saturday 11-14:00h. I took an uber from SP Jardim Europa Area for about 60 BRL and it took 40 min. The market is very nice, the location as well as the setting. Very secure, nice musicians, a lot lf craftsmen selling products, nice restaurants with athmosphere and the charm of the colonial time. I can recommend to go there for a daytrip from S.P. on the weekends.

Was a nice diversion on a sunny Sunday. I am not a big homemade craft guy but it was still interesting to pass by the varied stalls and see what creativity exists in the people of Curitiba. For me a great meal and a pint of local beer is all it took to rate this a must see/do on Sundays (only on Sunday) in Curitiba. If it’s raining just pack an umbrella and go. You can choose any one of 15+ places to sit, eat and drink and watch the passerby’s well just pass you by. Highly recommended for a Sunday activity.
