What an hidden gem! This is a fantastic place which is perfectly located near by many attractions. The staff go above and beyond to ensure everything is of the highest quality. I will be recommending this hotel to my friends and family. The chef onsite is amazing and, in our opinion, the meals were much better than what we have had in the Galle Fort. The waiter was very knowledgeable with the local area and attentive. The swimming pool was the prefect temperature and the extensive grounds were keep immaculate and clean throughout our stay. Our deluxe family room was perfect for three night with 2 children. Plenty of space within the 2 story room- very impressive! Well done team but especially to The ek Shana shan, priyantha suminda and werasekara. We will come back again on our next trip.

Blue River resort and hot springs

Reviewed By najanja

The hotel itself is tired and can do with a lot of updating. The food is incredibly expensive and really not worth the money whatsoever. The prices are comparable to large cities in the UK. The rooms were also very dated e..g there was a holed in the toilet wall and definitely needed a re paint. The sunbeds were broken and the pools needed some maintenance. However in saying this, the staff were very friendly and could not fault them in any way. However, there is a lovely Rustic restaurant about 15 minutes walk from the Blue River resort and hot springs which does wonderful breakfast, lunch and dinner at a really good price - Rústico Rincón Viejo - definitely worth checking out!

Villa Atulya

Set on the Southern coastline of Sri Lanka just a few minutes along the coastal highway from spectacular Mirissa Beach, and within easy reach of Galle or Matara, Villa Atulya offers an idyllic holiday experience. Set in ocean front, this is a home away from home with all required luxury where you can enjoy your holiday without the hustle and bustle of a commercially run hotel. The antique furniture and paintings carefully chosen by the architect adds a touch of opulence of a bygone era to the Villa and its open verandas facing the ocean. When you are at the Villa all you will hear is the hypnotic sound of the Indian Ocean rolling on to the reef in front which makes this a special place to unwind and reconnect with simpler things in life. The Villa has its own swimming pool and staff ( Manager, Housekeeper and Chef) who will happily attend to your every need.At Villa Atulya you can enjoy the finest home cooked Sri Lankan meals as well as a variety of Western dishes prepared to suit your palate by our Resident Chef.If you prefer to buy fresh fish and vegetables from the market, our staff will prepare meals according to your taste at no extra cost. Great for a group holiday

Reviewed By SAR28

We had a great stay at Villa Atulya with extended family. We booked both villas (5 rooms each) & each with their own pool. There’s large garden spaces in both so it’s great for kids or a friendly game of cricket. The villa manager Ranga & his team ensured everyone was comfortable. The food was really good and everyone enjoyed their stay. The sea front right outside the villa is rocky so be sure to pack water shoes or sandals. Having said that, there’s lot of marine life visible in the naturally formed tide pools. To the right of the villa is a small natural pool / Bay Area that is great to chill in (and also for varieties of fish). Further down to the right there are pretty big waves but it’s not suitable for body boarding because of the rocks. I’d really recommend Villa Atulya for a group vacation.

Truly outstanding hotel for our honeymoon

We were made to feel completely at home at The Why House. Its gorgeous, has beautifully kept grounds, is well run, spacious, never overcrowded and the food and drinks are absolutely outstanding. You can see why people loyally return again and again. The staff are all lovely and kind, will do anything to make your stay more comfortable. This is the sort of place where little details are really important and dont go unnoticed. For example, I noticed our fridge didnt work our first day - I didnt even get round to mentioning it to any of the staff and by the time we came back to our room it had already been replaced - like they had read my mind! The pool is beautiful and the surroundings are so private and picturesque. Henrietta, the owner, takes time to get to know her guests and was an absolute scream to hang out with and have a drink with. Love you Hen! Yes there are power cuts occasionally which is par for the course in Sri Lanka no matter where you stay and made for an exciting adventure - but are just worth mentioning in case you are unfamiliar with a sudden blackout. They don't usually last long. THE FOOD - was of an incredible standard - the modern take on traditional Sri Lankan one night was phenomenal and I think about that food all the time! The fruit plates for breakfast I still think about how good they were and all the other options - the chefs were genuises. We would 1000% return to Why House in the future. Thank you Hen and the Why House team - we felt so at home. Kristina & Shanta x
