Read the reviews from here and immediately started saving for a stay at garden court. Loved the environment which was so clean allowed fresh air. The bar is well stocked and the services are world class. The rates are fair for the service though many locals find them too high. Best place enjoyed our two night stay.

Chamilandu Bushcamp - The Bushcamp Company

There’s nothing quite like waking up at The Bushcamp Company's Chamilandu. Early morning views don’t get much better – the rippling waters of the Luangwa River, the gentle rise of the Chindeni Hills and a vast African sky especially when you’re lying in a four poster bed in a stilted tree-house. Camp can accommodate up to six guests in three raised tree-houses and offers guided walking safaris, plus day and night game drives (open from June to November).

I have been to the South Luangwa National Park in Zambia several times. I frequently stay at the Bushcamp properties; Chamilandu being one of them. I have never been disappointed. This is not a hotel. It is a small private camp that can accommodate 6 guests. It provides a true bush experience in a luxurious manner. It has 3 ensuite thatched roof elevated chalets. Each has a deck that provides a stunning view of the Luangwa River. Rooms are serviced several times a day by friendly staff. Food is excellent - they are very attentive to special dietary needs. Laundry is done daily and is included. There is no internet connectivity or cell service - you truly get away from it all. The guides are excellent. Wildlife viewing is as good as it gets. I have taken award winning photos in this area. Game drives are in well maintained Land Rovers. The vehicles can hold up to 9 guests but I have never had more than 6, often it is only our group of 2 or 4. Chami has a hide (some call it a blind) where you can relax and watch all types of game come to a watere hole. A unique feature of Chamilandu and the other Bushcamps is the walking safari. You can even hike (with a guide and scout) from one camp to another. On a walking safari the game tends to be shy and runs off. What you do get is in-depth knowledge of the bush including everything you ever wanted to know about scat. All in all a great location at a fair price.

Best Guides, Food and Safari Experience in Zambia, if not all of Africa!

Robin Pope Safaris gave us the most magical experience of our lives! The guides were the highlight of the entire trip! Obi, Yonna, Banjo and Daniel gave us the most amazing vehicle game drives twice a day at Nkwali. Bertram and Willie expertly navigated the boats at Nsefu! We stayed at Nkwali for 3 nights, then boarded boats to Nsefu for 3 nights and continued back downstream to stay at Nkwali for the final 3 nights. Each day brought a completely different experience. The first evening game drive we watched the Wild Dogs hunt and had a beautiful sundowner while the Wild Dogs rested and the Hippos patiently waited for us to move out of their path. The food was out of this world. (I'm still hoping they make a cook book to share with the world!) The chalets were beautiful and luxurious! Kiki, the manager, gave us an unforgettable experience and we can NOT wait to return!

Mchenja is Mmmm Good!

Reviewed By biobob52

We stayed for three nights at the Time and Tide Mchenja Camp in the South Luangwa National Park in early November, 2021 . The camp was was fantastic! Early November is the hottest time of the year in the Luangwa Valley, and this year the "small rains" were late. So it was extremely hot and dry away from the river. The thirsty animals were easy pickings for the leopards and lions, which were much more active at night than in the heat of the day. The camp is located on a cliff directly above the Luangwa River, and you could see (and hear) hippos and elephants pretty much all the time while we were in our tent. The camp manager (Enoch), is a wonderful host, who joined us for dinner and lunch several times during our visit. He's been with the camp since the early days when it was still managed by the founder, Norman Carr. Enoch has a wealth of wonderful anecdotes and stories about the camp, the park, and the local culture. We enjoyed our guide (John) and tracker (Pyela) very much as well. The food was terrific, and everyone went out of their way to make our visit special. One of the high points was the "sundowner" celebration on our last night on a remote cliff at the edge of the Luangwa River. As the sun set, there were (by the sound) at least 50 or more hippos immediately below us in the water. By the time we left it was after dark, and the hippos were out of the river, all around us on dry land. I was not expecting the photographic high point at Mchenja to be giraffes, but what you see on a drive is up to Mother Nature! Just after dawn we came across two young male giraffes "necking." In full grown adult males fights to establish dominance can lead to serious injury or death. The young males were taking it a little easy, but the pushing and slapping was still very intense. The light was perfect. The giraffes were in open shade, while the foreground and background were bathed in "magic" early morning light. Besides the giraffes, we saw lions and lion cubs, bee eaters, kingfishers, pelicans, all sorts of antelopes, wildebeests, wild dogs, baboons, and LOTS of elephants and hippos. We also saw many unique "night" animals as we returned to camp in the evening including Honey badgers, civets, genets, sengi, scrub hares, a pair of Giant Eagle Owls, nightjars, hyenas, and several leopards on the hunt. We highly recommend this wonderful camp!

Time + Tide Kakuli

Perched high on the banks of the Luangwa River, Time + Tide Kakuli is an escape from modern life, where giraffes wander past and bee-eaters dance through the air. Relax in the panoramic suites, immersing into the wild with the effortless flow between the inside and outside. With a cold drink in hand, listen to the hippos bellowing nearby and watch as a parade of elephants marches past, little ones in tow. As first light spreads across the land, sip on coffee around the campfire deck overlooking the waterhole below. Pukus and impalas drink quietly, a little taste of the wildlife to come on your morning drive. In the dry season, explore by vehicle and foot, seeking out the area’s abundant leopards and lions or the colony of carmine bee-eaters. During our Secret Season (mid-January to early April), Time + Tide Kakuli is a lush haven where wildlife frolics in the verdant abundance, boat safaris provide a fresh new perspective and thunderstorms bring the sky to life every afternoon.

Time + Tide Nsolo

On the banks of the seasonal Luwi River beside a permanent river lagoon, lies Time + Tide Nsolo. Offering quintessential barefoot luxury, this historical camp has an intimate riverside ambiance that allows you to immerse into the sights and sounds of the bush. Sit in the shade of your private raised deck and watch as kingfishers dip and pukus drink, carefully avoiding the lagoon’s resident crocodiles. Gather together and dine under the stars, sipping on a gin and tonic served in a crystal cut glass. Fall asleep to the sound of lions and hyenas calling, which often use the riverbed in front of camp as a thoroughfare to find their prey. Rise with the rays of golden sun and sip on coffee around the campfire before departing on a walking safari to track the very lions you heard all night. Venture into the camp’s surroundings, which are famous for predator action. As you track them through the bush with hushed voices and beating hearts, your mind suggests there is a lion over every rise.

Fantastic Nsolo Camp

Reviewed By DigitalNomadRob

My family spent two nights at Time and Tide's Nsolo camp this week. We absolutely loved it and appreciated the excellent service from Precious and her team, along with our knowledgeable guide, Charles. It was rustic and remote and off the grid, which is what we wanted. The sunrises were amazing and the food was excellent. One reason why we chose this camp was that we really wanted to see wild dogs. We had not seen them on any previous safaris during our three-plus years in Zambia in the Lower Zambezi NP, Kafue, and our lone previous trip to South Luangwa. Within the first hour of our first game drive, we saw a pack of wild dogs, hyenas, and some lions. Thanks for a memorable stay.

Time + Tide Luwi

Beneath a grove of ancient mahogany trees deep in the national park sits Time + Tide Luwi. Immerse into the rhythms of the bush, rising as the first rays of golden light warm the land and sleeping with the stars as hyenas whoop their night-time revelries. Set at the confluence of the dry Luwi River and a grassy flood plain, tranquillity envelops the camp, with only the bellows of grumpy hippos in the nearby lagoon breaking the reverent silence. Relax on your feather-top bed or on your private outdoor lounge and listen to the calls of songbirds overhead while a bushbuck tiptoes past. Gather around the campfire with your fellow travellers, reconnecting with the simple joys in life in this wild haven. From the Luwi hide, watch as crocodiles lounge and birds hunt in the shallows or explore the woods and network of dry riverbeds on foot. Alongside the area’s resident elephants, lions and wild dogs, there are good chances to see more elusive species that relish the secluded surroundings.

A real bush camp.

Reviewed By tomv767

South Luangwa is a 100 000km2 reserve in Zambia. It was poached close to extinction around 1980 but since than the Zambian government and international organization have done a lot against poaching and areas like this are very well recovered. Many cats (with exception of the Cheetah due to the absence of large plains) as well as other animals. The Rhino also has been re-introduced recently in the Northern Luangwa. The camp is situated at the LUWI river which is a hot and dry area during the dry season. It was great for spotting lions. The camp itself is basic and likely a bit too wild for first time safari goers, certainly because it also has quite a lot of TSE TSE flies. For people like me that like real bush camps and tranquility it is however fantastic! It does explain the somewhat mixed feedback in reviews. Top are the landscapes (some areas look like creepy but beautiful witch forests and others like real bush land), the food, and the sundowner’s. Plenty of game/wild-life both in and around the tents. Important: Shoot out to Adam and Alex which are a great guide/tracker combination.

Has apartments and double rooms. We took two double rooms and each has a microwave, a fridge and kitchen ware and table tools. The showers are great (though a little confined) with piping hot water 24/7. TV is large and clear with DSTV and the internet is great, dependable - once they give you the right code! The double beds are more than comfortable and outside are beautiful gardens where we chilled - oh so well! The staff are helpful and the shuttle is a real user-friendly service. Please arrive ready to pay. The Mall is next door and has a bureau-de-change, restaurant and supermarket. Google Maps misled us a bit but just ask and the neighbours. helped out at 9 pm! They need to put in a clothes rack!

A superb accommodation!

Reviewed By AnniAbroad

We spent 10 days in the SOCH Inn and I was positively impressed by the quality of the entire accommodation. The rooms where big, had comfortable beds with clean sheets and duvet covers, the mosquito nets were in perfect conditions and the bathrooms were large and had warm water. There is a kitchen that can be used by the guests, but the staff is always there to give you a hand if it’s needed. On the first night they cooked some delicious local dishes for us! The entire personnel was super welcoming and helpful with the cooking, washing dishes and the laundry and cleaned the rooms on a daily basis. Furthermore, there is a dining room that can fit 10 people and if more space is required, a conference room is also available. The location of the inn is good, it’s only a short walk to the market and supermarket. Moreover, walking on the streets of Serenje is one of the best experiences as you feel welcomed and safe; there is a pleasant environment and all the locals are extremely friendly. It’s a great accommodation and additionally supports the Serenje Orphans Children’s Home located 200m down the road.
