Perfect for a wellness getaway

Reviewed By Skim87

I had the most amazing stay here with my wife for her birthday. The service was attentive without being intrusive. Particularly, Umeki San went above and beyond helping us arrange transport and making restaurant reservations. The wellness theme is carried thoughtfully throughout the property with simple but nice finishings. Thalasso experience was fun and the in room massage I received was extremely helpful for my muscle issues (and very very strong). The food is delicious and fresh though some things can taste bland. Overall, 5/5 stars, strongly recommend for your trip to Okinawa!

The Ritz-Carlton Okinawa

The Ritz-Carlton, Okinawa is a family-friendly resort where luxury is expressed through a caring spirit and thoughtful hotel amenities. Our Nago resort is just moments away from Japan's Kise Beach with indoor and outdoor pools and set amid the championship golf course at Kanehide Kise Country Club, resort guests will discover a true escape.

Stressed and disappointed.

Reviewed By Catherine4290

The stay that I experienced is not up to the standard that Ritz Carlton is renowned for around the world. I experienced several issues during my stay and eventually I felt stressed and could not enjoy my stay. First of all, I am a Lifetime member but noticed the lack of service from the moment I arrived. I was not offered a welcome drink even though other people around me that checked in received one. I was not offered a room upgrade at checkin even though the hotel was practically empty with very few guests. Upon arrival to my room I found a moldy pillow that I immediately reported and gave to the room service staff when they delivered my room service order. Two out of the three meals that I ordered arrived cold because they were not placed in a hot box for delivery and were pushed through the hallway without ensuring the correct temperature upon arrival. Upon delivery of my replacement meal, the staff member sat the hot box (that I requested my meal be delivered in this time) on the floor of my room and it sat there until 6:00pm. I had to request that it be removed twice. The chaise lounge sofa had stains on it. The final and most disturbing issue was when I prepared a cup of coffee and after drinking it discovered that the coffee machine was dirty and disgusting. I contacted the front desk via the app and had to request that it be removed and replaced with a new one twice. Ironically the replacement machine was also dirty and the staff member called for another replacement when she noticed it. I came to the Ritz Carlton Okinawa to get some rest and relaxation and this stay was absolutely terrible and ruined my staycation. Sadly, I do not recommend this hotel and will never stay there again. I don’t understand why I was treated so poorly.

Grinch who stole whos Marriott Christmas

Reviewed By Scott_Marbut

Marriott annually celebrates Christmas in a big way every year. Outside bushes to a giant tree inside the lobby were amazingly decorated with 100's of poinsettias was absolutely beautiful. Santa mingling with the guests in the lobby, then making room calls later and delivering presents was magic. 2020 the lobby was clean as a thistle as the Grinch had just been there. No Christmas cake or cookies this year. Staff was not decked in Santa hats, nor a live band playing subtly in the background as in yesteryears. The ritz in executive-level is gone without even a hot dish, and the best service was cheese and bread. Even the small Charlie Brown Christmas tree in the room was gone. Snacks were all in wrappers, it seems that the executive chef and his staff have just left. Missing are many of our favorite staff faces as we have made the pilgrimage to the Marriott for over a decade, but we have finally had it as this was the last straw next year we will seek something new and we can only hope and read something positive in review.

Nice hotel but not 5-star standard

Reviewed By JackT1535

Busena Terrace Hotel looks and sounds like a 5-star hotel. Location is lovely on beach, with several great pools and big rooms. It has everything going for it. It SHOULD be great. However, the service is not befitting of a 5-star hotel, in terms of the staff and also the facilities. The gym is embarrassing, without a weight in sight and only a couple of running machines. The staff are incredibly inflexible and in some cases plain unhelpful. Little details - such as fixing an apparently broken espresso machine at breakfast - should be done quickly at a hotel of this level but proved impossible at Busena. Lots of features of the hotel were closed because of staffing related to coronavirus - including the spa, poolside bar and several restaurants - which is fair enough to some extent but some other aspects of the hotel - such as a clothes shop - were overly-staffed. It just didn't make a lot of sense. When my friend had a broken toe, which needed redressing, the hotel claimed they didn't have a first aid kit. Again, not even close to 5-star standard.

Kool Kanucha

Reviewed By RandyGriswold

From check in to check out the staff, service, and food at Kanucha was top notch. We started our day playing golf with friends at the Kanucha course, which was well maintained, accessible, and picturesque. After 18 holes of golf, we ate at the Chinese restaurant in the clubhouse and were treated to a very tasty lunch of ramen and other accoutrements. We bid adieu to our friends and checked in to our accommodations at the Kanucha resort. The service was spectacular and we were walked do our room by their friendly staff. The room was spacious, clean, and had a wonderful view of Oura Bay. We opted for the traditional Japanese dinner and it was reasonably priced and quite delicious. In the morning we again chose the traditional Japanese breakfast and, although I’m a “Yankee, “ enjoyed the breakfast. They make the white rice in a traditional manner using a pot and open fire outside. Our experience was enjoyable and we will be returning there again in the fall.
