Good local food choices at the restaurant. Huge Onsen bath (hot spring) is available. Kagoshima made Whiskey with Soda after spa made me truly relaxedness.

Active Resorts Kirishima is the perfect place to view a wide range of scenery. Kirishima Jingu Shrine is a 7 minute car drive away from the hotel, and the famous Sakurajima (an active volcano that sits in the middle of Kagoshima Bay) can be viewed from Kirishima City which is a 30 minute car drive from the hotel. The ponds of Senganen sit a bit further out at an hours drive. The hotel also offers panorama views over the local landscape which can be enjoyed from the hotel's hot spring.
A nice resort hotel, plenty of free parking spaces, sizable lobby, the outdoor hot spring surrounded by trees, creates an intoxicating atmosphere. Room is clean and spacious, bath room is made of prefabricated components, relatively small comparing to the large room. Breakfast is outstanding, a plenteous choice of food.

Hotel
This hotel is quite dilapidated but have several redeeming quality that ultimately made me give a moderate rating. Firstly, it has one of the cheapest half-board dinner of all of Japan for which the dinner can be arranged to your room. The food quality, on the other hand, both dinner and breakfast was not bad but not entirely delicious. Room is enormously huge, but lacks luxuriousness as it is in need for an upgrading. The hotspring is literally the star of the hotel. I see that many people specially go there JUST FOR THE HOTSPRING, and they leave before nighttime. I was there on a weekday and we were the ONLY GUEST in the whole hotel. It is pretty scary at night, in a secluded island with no other humans around. Service was good, people are nice friendly and endearing. But come on, its Japan! You get good hospitality as guests everywhere! Run down building in a need of a facelift. Makes me wonder about safety issues especially when its dangerously located right beside an active volcano. not worth risking to stay there overnight. The surrounding establishments are really rundown and abandon. Famous hotel chain, Furusato Hotspring hotel is just a stone's throw away. It's a abandon hotel that gives off extremely eerie vibes. We have a balcony, but what stands beside out balcony is the abandon building of another hotel, giving me the creeps at night especially when we were the only guest for the night. Will not be revisiting them in the future, maybe just the bath. TRAVEL TIPS: 1) Do not stay more than 1 day as you really have nothing much to do around there. I advise 1.5day would be sufficient. 2) They do not have a door lock latch like most western hotel. As we were the only guest in the whole hotel we felt unsafe. We pushed a table to the sliding door as a precaution. 3) Go during the weekends when its more crowded, you feel more secure. 4) book the halfboard dinner, it may not be the most fantastic dinner but its nice to be dinning in a tatami room with your partner. 5) DOnt get the corner rooms 6) Rent a car, or take a bus. Bus schedule are pretty on time.

I love this place. We booked a sea view room and there are no regrets. The service is excellent. The rooms are clean and very comfortable. The dinners were exquisite. The outdoor onsen is a bit small but the views are wonderful. I will definitely return. Yakushima is everything it promised it would be and this hotel is the cherry on top of the cake.

We paid nearly 50,000 yen for the two of us. The room was terribly small, and the bath which they described half-outside onsen was just a bathroom without the window. I think it used to be enclosed with the glass windows but they just took out that window. If we turned on the light, people can see us from the road. And that is the only bathroom they have in the room. I have never seen a bathroom with a shower that is open to outside like this one. If it were half the price, I could understand but it was WAY OVERPRICED and very old and poor facility. The staff was nice but that was the only nice thing. The room they called "Asian-style" was just an old tatami-mat room with cheap Bali style decoration. The food was OK but not the worth the price we paid. It was BAD.

In March 2019, the name was changed from International Golf Resort to Satsuma Golf Resort and Satsuma Resort Hotel. There are various sports facilities for golf and accommodation, soccer, rugby and tennis. There are also 5 meeting rooms that can be used for meetings. In November 2019, half of the guest rooms were renewed. The rooms show wonderful mountains, good air and a relaxing environment. It is a resort that can be used only for sports, meetings and lodging!
