We opened uzuhouse in August, 2016. We're in front of Akama-Jingu Shrine and there is Kanmon Straits right behind the building, so you can enjoy the amazing view. We have great historical spots, delicious local food and unique people around the city. Explore Shimonoseki city from here!
Incredible value when compared to accommodation throughout Japan. The room I stayed was tatami mat Japanese room which is spartan but spacious with a view overlooking Akama shrine which has long history and many interesting stories. The most memorable part of the hotel is the roof top area complete with seating that is right on the waterfront of the Kanmon Straight. Get som drinks annoy some time watching boats pass through the narrow straights right in front of your eyes, the bridge which straddles the straights connects Honshu and Kyushu and is one the great vistas that can be seen in Japan for only about $100 a night. Convenient habourside walk to Central Shimonoseki, Uzu House can’t be beaten for value or the experience that you will enjoy.

⋆Guesthouse ruco was born in Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture in October 2013. “ruco” comes from the two Chinese characters, “流” (Ru means flow) and “交” (Co means interact). We hope the guesthouse will connect people who are visiting Hagi and living in Hagi and make them interact with each other just like the water channels flowing through Hagi are connecting people’s lives. We named this place “ruco” with that wish in our mind. The history and castle town of Hagi are not the only attractions of this city.To say nothing of the elegant scenery you can find even with a little walk, we think the wonderful people living here and the things they create are the best attractions of this city.We hope you will soak in such attractions of Hagi during your stay in our guesthouse.*Mix domitory(max 8 people)*Price: 2800JPY per nightFacility: Reading light / Private curtain / Locker*female domitory(max 6 people)*Price: 2800JPY per nightFacility: Reading light / Private curtain / Locker*private room* Price: 4500JPY for 1 person 7500JPY for 2 people 10000JPY for 3people
Our family of 5 stayed in the family room that contained 3 bunk beds. Although the space was compact, the beds were comfortable. Each bed had a good reading light and a sack to put your eye glasses in or other little things next to you. Shoi the owner was very friendly and helpful with suggestions on dining. Very very clean! We loved having the use of the kitchen where we made our own breakfast and met other guests, mostly from other parts of Japan. Great location very close to bus station and a landmark schoolhouse and Samurai training center. I was interested in the famous tea bowl pottery that the town is known for. Wandered around the galleries but most studios were closed for the New Years week. Castle ruins interesting as well. I would definitely stay again at this simple well appointed hostel.

I think most tourists would not consider this place if you do not have a transport, as it is like 1.4km away from Higashi-Hagi station (one station before Hagi station). I am not sure why I booked in the first place, may be because of the picture shown, like old Japanese guesthouse, and it was really the best budget guesthouse I have stayed. Formerly, as I was informed, was an old Japanese house and they converted it to the present day guesthouse. The thing I like best is the Tatami mat in the whole house though they do provide bed, but given a choice I would like to sleep on the tatami mat. And the Guesthouse Manager, Mr. Santa (yes, it is Santa-San) is very helpful, very nice person. And we even had dinner together here. They have a kitchen and fridge, and you may cook and eat at the dining table. The back room where i used is facing a small garden corner, and hence you have plenty of fresh air, and you feel the area is more spacious. They have a room to cater for lady guests. And a walk about 200m away is the public beach where you may take a stroll if you like. NEarest supermarket is about 700m away, and it opens until I think 8pm, hence you may buy whatever you need, and it is cheaper if you buy here (bear in mind Hagi is just a small town, hence they are not so many choices). And Kominka Guesthouse surrounding area has no restaurant, hence you may either walk, borrow the bicyle from Santa-San or drive to the nearest restaurant if you like to. For my two nites days here, I basically walk to explore to whole city of Hagi. The only set back here is there is again, only one washroom, and two toilets.

Newly opened on July 2015 - HOSTEL HAGI TIME is warmhearted hostel located in the center of Hagi town, only 10 minutes' from Hagi bus center and 5 minutes' from important preservation districts for groups of historic buildings.
Me and my wife stayed at this hostel for 2 nights on 7-4-2017 to 9-4-2017. The owner gave us a four beds room since she told us that ther won't be any other customers at that period. The hostel is new and clean. Hagi city is quiet and nice to stay for a long time. The owner provide free tea & coffee while we stayed there. She is a nice lady and maintain the hostel in a very good condition. We wish to stay again in this hostel when we visit Hagi in future. All sight seeing points are within walking distance from the hostel and remember to enjoy the Hagi boat ride if you visit there within March to November each year.
