Another incredible stay in Tomamu, this was our third time and we can’t recommend it enough. The food, the chef team and the restaurant / bar staff are outstanding. Everyday there are many choices and great quality. Special thank you to Dogan, Manish, Adi, Carlos, Adam, Greg, Dina, Angel, Kei, Francis, Isim, Ryota and Taiju. Then what makes this place even better is the fantastic miniclub, the staff is so passionate! Your little ones will have a blast ! They build amazing relationship with the kids and it makes it super tough to leave this place. Special thank you from Margaux to Naoki, Hiroki, Hotaru, Yukari, Teresa, Mile, Danya and everybody else. You make parents life so easy and happy, The ski instructors are also fantastic with the kids and the medal ceremony is motivating! Thank you Aya for your patience with kids and Nino for your fantastic advices. Thank you Nao, Ruairi, Sugar and of course Clayton the chef de village for building such a great team!

Risonare Tomamu is one of the two hotels located with the resort area. All 200 rooms within this hotel are suite rooms with over 100 square meters.Every room is equipped with a whirlpool bath and sauna.Free WiFi access available.
We had the most wonderful white Christmas holiday staying here. As a family with three children we were attracted by spacious rooms, easy ski-in/ski-out and onsite facilities including the ice village. The Risonare tower is wonderful, the room was amazing (including a jacuzzi in the room) and we had plenty of space for the kids. With lots of beginner ski runs we had so much to explore and this was a highlight holiday of our time living in Japan. We will be back for sure in the future!

This is a lovely little pension not far from Tomamu ski resort. The owners are a charming gentle old couple. Breakfast is included in the price. There is a public bath which is very nice. However there are a few flaws resulting in my grading of three bullets. The room is very very small and there is not much common room space available - a little bit but not much. You wouldn’t want to hang around the lodge all day reading a book. Unfortunately - and this is not the owners fault at all - the other guests were not as well mannered as they should have been. In particular, the sinks in the shared bathrooms were very messy with water splashed around (what do these guests do - wash their clothes in them?) each morning. Also one of them used up all our milk, which was in the common refrigerator clearly labelled. Perhaps the owners should put some signs around in English explaining some basic manners - like keep the bathroom sink tidy, wear toilet slippers in the toilet, etc etc.

If you have to stay in Tomamu for any reason and do not wish to pay for the price of Tomamu resort, this might be your second choice. Overall food is good but small portion. Room is dated but with a portable air con & fan in my room. Ladies toilet is ok but I've heard a bit of complaints about boys toilet from Dad. Owner is nice and friendly but the helper wasn't as nice and his service and manner was terrible according to Japanese standard & culture. I never expect that I will need to service myself during dining. This might be due to the barrier of language where the helper is the only one who can speak fair English. Next time I will pay a bit more for the resort close by.
