Reviewed By PaulaC6251After deferring our trip due to covid, we finally got to Abisko. 2 years after first booking it. We had a chalet which was clean, comfy beds, well appointed and spacious, loved the drying room for wet clothes. (other family members) stayed in the hotel-room was great, too. Arrived to snowfall - Brilliant! Upon arrival we ate sandwiches and fika in the reception area. Wonderful. Went for a trek around the canyon then back for a 3 course meal - the restaurant was beautifully laid out with candles and the food and service worthy of a quality restaurant. We trekked to the ski lift and our guide was so helpful and informative. Sky station was brilliant also, as the Aurora came out. We laid on reindeer skins in the snow to watch them. Had a trek around the mountain too, but was cut short as our guide noticed lynx tracks and suggested we return to base as it was mating season so she didn’t want the lynx disturbed. Breakfast the next day was so full of variety. We only stayed 1 night as we headed off the the ice hotel, but Abisko whilst I’m sure was full, didn’t seem too crowded with people, it was relaxed and everything ran so smoothly. Would return in a heartbeat, everything was perfect.

Reviewed By JonDoe04134A very pleasant centrally located hotel. Large room but there was no way to adjust the temperature which we felt was a bit too low. Comfortable bed with several different cushions. The safebox didn't work and the was no hand soap, only shampoo instead. Great breakfast with a view and a lot of choice. Sadly, the employee apparently responsible for the breakfast was extremely rude towards other colleagues in front of the guests which made them visibly stressed. I'd rather have a bit worse breakfast but with more polite staff. The spa was quite small but the price even smaller so it still offered good value for money. Overall we enjoyed our stay, although there's room for improvement.

Very poor and aggressive customer service at reception
Reviewed By jkparikkaI have stayed in this hotel already 3 times, as it is the hotel our company uses when we have layovers in Luleå. The rooms are nice and comfy and clean. BUT the service at reception lacks professional customer service skills. We had an incident with breakfast, the issue was (as always seems to have been) that they had no information that breakfast is included in our room rate, as per our company policy. Once again upon checking out, we were asked to pay for breakfast and when we tried to explain that it actually should be included, the woman at reception (blond, glasses) got very defensive and started aggressively saying 'No you have to pay, we have no information!' And when we said we will check with our company and started calling them. Our company answered the phone and said 'yes it is included', my colleague tried handing the phone over to this person at the reception, she shouted "No we need email!". So we got our company to send an email and this woman come from the reception and tried to explain her side of the issue VERY POORLY. Being very accusing and unprofessional with a very aggressive tone of voice to match. She even started pointing at one of my colleagues asking "Have you paid?". I have also found from my others colleagues that emails have been sent on several occasions stating that breakfast is included, how many more emails do you need?? Now as I mentioned I have stayed in this hotel three times and every time this person has been at the reception she has had/has a very condescending attitude towards customers. Even when I have walked past the reception and say 'Hi', she doesn't even lift her eyes from her computer screen. So this is not the first time but this was too much. Our company is paying for the rooms and if you call this good customer service, I am truly shocked! I have worked in hotels for many years and now am still working in customer service, I find this outrageous how badly one gets treated. Luleå does have other hotels to offer, is this what you really want? Getting a steady revenue from a paying guest/company? Such a person should not be in customer service if she/he can't express themselves in a calm and polite manner. This person has neither qualities. Being in customer service, I do know that some days might be tougher BUT you never take it out on customers, NEVER. I would like to receive an apology and see a change made. However, I do not want the usual "Thank you for your review..We are sorry to here...blablabla", as I am fully aware that these are just templates used when one is not bothered to respond or take the time to reply. A friendly welcome; large, spotlessly clean rooms and a great breakfast buffet. We did not try the restaurant, but it was busy on a Tuesday night when we sent up for a drink on the rooftop bar which has stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The highlight for us was the Spa. So many spa experiences are ruined by unfriendly staff assuming that guests know what to do. This was not like that at all. Friendly staff working in an amazing facility explained each of the the 11 steps of the experience. It was a lovely way to spend an afternoon and good enough to warrant a trip all on its own

Nature at its best with amazing tree top living

Beautiful sunrises, northern light, snow scooters and walking in the woods with snow shoes and then eating lunch over an open fire with an excellent guide who taught us much, finalizing with sauna and nice dinner. What else can you ask from life!
