Great amenities in the bathroom, free drinks, beer, cocktails in the fridge, snacks, and a comfy bed. Gym was small - treadmill, elliptical, bike, and free weights, but clean and modern. Breakfast was great. Nice buffet. Not too far from most everything.

No public lobby to hang around, but can use the cafeteria space. Got public laundry machine and also food vending machine.

WELLIES is a unique small hotel only one hour from Tokyo in Karuizawa. Chris, the British owner offer gastro-pub style cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere. Most of our rooms have cool functional designs and funky British wallpaper. Spend time on the terrace or garden enjoying the natural surroundings (we are very popular with Birders in the winter), or have a drink at the bar with friends old and new. We are only 10 minutes drive from the JR Karuizawa (Shinkansen) , Outlet shopping, Prince ski resort and Kyu-Karuizawa old town. We are less than 5-minutes from Hoshino area (Harunire Terrace, Tombo No Yu hot spring, Stone Church, Seizon Art Museum and Blestoncourt wedding hotel). We are only 3 minutes drive from Naka-Karuizawa station. Convenient for birding. Eat with us or we can give advice on local restaurants and also the inside track on things to do and see in the area. We are about 7 minutes walk from Naka-Karuizawa station. The whole hotel is NO SMOKING inside.

A Comfortable and Friendly Home
Reviewed By kylewY4977AXI had a fantastic time at Bellscabin, and am happy that I could stay for two nights because one wouldn't have been enough! The owners are friendly and warm, willing to help and answer any questions they can. The setting is incredibly beautiful and if you're an avid walker or hiker it's an ideal base with plenty of interesting things to check out in the immediate vicinity, and if you're willing to put in a 45 minute walk uphill, you can get to Karuizawa town easily enough. I visited Bellscabin during winter and the warm, cosy atmosphere was truly a blessing to come home to. The dorms are small and comfortable and the amenities offer everything you need from a backpackers. They make a solid BLT and a delicious cup of coffee so you can start your day on a good foot. I will definitely be back, hopefully in the Spring this time!

Reviewed By gaku0608インスタ映えするおしゃれな部屋だと思いますが、狭い部屋を予約したせいか荷物や服を置く所が無い。デスクと椅子1脚のみ。使いにくいハンガーも２つだけ。洗面所のコップが置いてある台が大きくて、ポーチなど置くのも便利かと思いましたが、大き過ぎて顔を洗う時に頭がぶつかる。おしゃれな小さな冷蔵庫も使いにくい。寒い時期でもパジャマが半袖。 しかし、新しいホテルだからこそ良い所も。コンセントがたくさんあって便利。バスタブも大きい。気になってたドライヤーが置いてあった。これは女性は嬉しいと思います。 チェックイン時の対応もいまいち。リピートはなし。

Reviewed By Josgreet1Location of the hotel is fine, but the whole place is a bit aged. The lobby area is huge with a bar (only open until 10:30 PM) and restaurant attached. Rooms are also large but are in desperate need of some upgrading. The hotel has many stairs and no elevator and is inaccessible for wheelchairs. It's an expensive place but so are all hotels in Karuizawa.

Loved the little wood houses! Closed to ski chair lifts

We really enjoyed our stay there, the little wood house we stayed was very close to ski chair lifts, made it so much easier for all of us. The outlet next to the hotel had a wide range of restaurants to choose from. A few inconvenience stores at outlet to cover what we need. Great bargains at outlet too. Could managed to shop and ski without moving to another hotel. Very good experience and would love to visit again!

Perfect for an elegant, quick ski trip

The ski concierge and rental areas are very fine, although the equipment is not first rate, especially for the price (though I realize times have been challenging for the past two years). While it is not chic or brand new, it had the highest hotel standard for any ski-in, ski-out hotel that I have experienced in Japan. We stayed in the hotel and the room was high quality, especially the linens. We ate in the main restaurant for breakfast and dinner, which has high wooden ceilings, first rate decor and beautiful views. The food was very good and the service more excellent than usual. The fireplace (with cushioned seating all around it) in the lobby was my favorite and fortunately not crowded. The little bar outside next to the main ski lift was fun for apres-ski, but should be upgraded.
