Quiet, friendly travel stop
Reviewed By solittleOur group of 4 adults and a child used the Waldhotel Luise as a stop between Frankfurt and Zurich. The reception staff was extremely friendly and the hotel had a cozy feel. As it is already December, the hotel was completely decorated for Christmas much to the delight of our friend's 4 year old. We arrived early evening so we opted for dinner at the restaurant. As previous reviews have mentioned, the restaurant is a little pricey but the quantity and quality of food made it well worth while. Restaurant staff were extremely friendly and professional. Rooms were very large, quiet and we had a lovely patio area (although too cold outside to use it). Best towels and bedding of the previous 9 accommodations on our 37 day trip! Most of our group used the pool and thoroughly enjoyed the facilities. Breakfast was very good and we absolutely loved their Franke espresso machine.

Cosy getaway in the black forest with a great wellness offering
Reviewed By monica rA group of us went to the black forest for a yoga retreat - the hotel was wonderful, cozy, clean and very modern. The food was very good - every meal in a beautiful cozy setting with fireplace. If anything it was almost too much food - we ordered 7 courses both nights - 3 courses would be enough for me anyway :-) The spa area was pretty and the spa services (massage, facials and foot reflexology) were excellent - ask for Ana Maria! It is set in the black forest so there was a nice hike of 1 hour to get to the beautiful village of Freudenstadt with nice stores and cafes to enjoy.

Reviewed By CriticalThis is a grand old style hotel which has seen better days. Our room was fine but the outlook was onto dilapidated buildings at the rear and there was no air conditioning. On arrival late afternoon I asked for the bar and was told it was at the far end of the building. I walked the length of the building to find it shut and on return to reception I was then told 'yes that is correct'. The bar did not open at all that night as far as I can tell. There is plenty of parking and the place was very busy so it must appeal to a lot of people. It really needs a major upgrade for the 21st century.

We had a lovely room with a beautiful view on the lake. The room was very big and clean. You don’t hear any sound, this hotel is in “the middle of the forest” and therefore we could enjoy the silence and get some rest. Too bad that we did not have one duvet but two, for us this was not really convenient. We also enjoyed the breakfast every morning. Overall the service is good. We only had difficulties with the parking space. Even though there is enough space it is unclear where to park your car or you need to park a bit further in the dark.

Reviewed By Raoulr89Unfortunately you can't reserve a parking spot and there are not many at the hotel. There was no spot left and therefore we had to park in a parking lot on a 5 minute walk. Parking lot was located in the middle of the center of Freudenstadt. Personnel is okay but could be a little bit more inviting/ friendly. Room is modern and had a good shower, could be a little bit more pressure on the shower. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was perfect!

Reviewed By Taiyeb ZHotel is right at the centre. The staff (especially the receptionist guy) were super welcoming. Rooms were clean. Breakfast is good too. A bit costly we thought. The hotel is half hour walking from station but there are buses.

Hidden Gem in the Black Forest!
Reviewed By GChew9We were looking for a short family break in a nice quiet area, and found this family-run wellness hotel in the heart of beautiful Black Forest. It is situated in a small village with loads of beautiful walking trails. Great place to go walking with the dog. The hotel has something for everyone; sauna and steam rooms, small gym, quiet room, reading room and a recreation room with pool table, table tennis and table football. The biggest surprise was ringing in the new year with all the guests. The owner organises the New Year's Eve celebration and all guests are invited. Since a number of guests are regulars, it was more like ringing in the new year with extended family. The owners are extremely hospitable and personable. Highly recommended if you want to spend some peace and quiet in a home away from home.

Getaway and walking
Reviewed By paulvM1698HDGreat little place. Clean, friendly hosts and a host of facilities and welled priced. Great walks and Skilift on your doorstep. Close to city centre (5 mins drive. If that). The woods were great for families. Our six year old was happy to walk. Nice restaurant half way up the hill by the Skilift. Would stay again.

Beautiful location
Reviewed By nic0laidkAll in all this is a nice hotel with a friendly and helpful staff. The food is excellent and the rooms are clean and spacious. The location is perfect for hiking in the woods and the views are stunning. Two things: 1) The walls in the new section of the hotel are paper thin. We could literally hear the elderly couple speaking in low voices next door. 2) Word of advice: Dim the lights in the restaurant, please. It is simply not cosy at all. We would certainly stay there again!
