Fabulous People,Fabulous Hostel
Reviewed By ruth cand amazing country.A while back I was lucky enough to stay at the Damascus at the start and finish of my trip and have to say that Raymond and his friends could not have been kinder, funnier or more informative (even if the dancing was a tad dodgy and I did'nt get my whirling dervish !! ) Syria was a country full of surprises,steeped in history and with the friendlliest people I think I've ever met. I can't recommend it enough but until it's safe for everyone to return my thoughts and prayers are with you, inshallah.

A True Gem of Aleppo
Reviewed By newZealandBoboMy Husband and our two traveling companions found this hidden gem through a hotel booking site. It is a lovely old building close to the souk and old town. The rooms were clean and very reasonably priced. Some with air-conditioning and small bathroom, a must in the middle of summer , and the rest with fans and shared bathrooms .A decent breakfast was included. The most lovely quality of this hotel was the owners Rachid , his father ,and Matheaus who cooked etc. We stayed last year in July 2010 originally for 3 days but extended our stay to 2 weeks while the FIFFA world cup was on. We are from New Zealand and were charmed by the hospitality show to us from Rachid who looked after us as if we were part of the family. I would recommend this hotel as a hidden gem in this ancient city. Thank-you for making our time in Syria so special.

Perfetto nella sua semplicità
Reviewed By La_StefyHotel nato su quello che era un monastero, è gestito dalle suore. E' grande, le stanze sono ampie, molto pulite e comode e tutte con bagno privato. Piuttosto vicino alla Porta d' Oriente. Unico inconveniente: se dovete partire alle 7,30 non sperate di fare colazione alle 7,00... le suore aprono le porte della sala da pranzo solo alle 8 :) Stanze semplici e spaziose, tutte con bagno privato con doccia e bidet. Presenza di aria condizionata e ventilatore a soffitto, tv e frigorifero. Letti grandi comodi. Soluzione semplice ed economica ma sicuramente comoda e soddisfacente. Nella parte comune della struttura è presente un salottino nel quale è possibile fumare (nei Paesi arabi non c'è il divieto di fumo nei locali pubblici, solo nelle stanze d'albergo vige tale divieto) e connettersi gratuitamente ad internet con un pc a disposizione (connessione 128 kb ma veloce). L'hotel è situato su una delle principali strade di Damasco: il traffico in Siria non è certo dei più ordinati, ma le stanze sono eccezionalmente silenziose. In prossimità della struttura sono presenti svariati locali e ristoranti. A piedi è facilmente raggiungibile la Porta d'Oriente: in questa zona la mattina è possibile visitare l'immenso suk e la sera si può fare vita notturna. Reviewed By Anton BПонимаю, что в нынешней ситуации оценивать какие то отели в Сирии нелепо, тем не менее опишу наши ощущения, так сказать для истории. Когда мы приехали в Алеппо, то планировали остановиться именно в этой гостинице. Потому что, "этот хостел есть в Lonely Planet" и оценки хорошие. Но добравшись , поняли что останавливаться здесь не хотим. Довольно узкий холл, забитый бекпэкерами со всего мира. Хозяин не проявлял никакой заинтересованности, номера показывал с неохотой. Видно, что реклама от лоунли планет делает свое дело и биться за каждого клиента нет желания. Может конечно атмосфера там была и хорошая, ничего не скажу, но было довольно шумно и отдохнуть по нормальному не получилось бы. В итоге нашли по соседству совсем не раскрученную гостиницу по дешевле, получше, по тише, с русскоговорящим!!!! персоналом. Были до войны.
