Just what we needed

Thanks Carol. The King Studio was perfect for us as a base for two days visiting friends in the area. Warm, comfortable, good bed, en-suite that worked and kitchen bits that were ideal for two people. It was a good place to return to after a day away. We will return. Neil.

Disappointing customer service

Reviewed By BrunoMuzo

After booking to stay at Alpine Chalets a few weeks ago,we got shockingly disappointed when they cancelled our booking 48hours before our trip. Cancellation can be understandable but the manner in which they failed to communicate is appalling.Initially we booked for 2 adults and a baby via their website and it went through successfully. We called to discuss arrangements for our baby at which time they said they dont accept under 2 year old children. But because we had made the booking already, they promised to honour the booking via email. Yesterday suddenly they decided to cancel our booking over fears our baby would disturb other guests. This threw our plans into disarray as accommodation is very hard to find during school holidays coupled with the Covid situation. Why did they not reject the booking in the first place and mislead us over email when they were clearly given the babys age? Why did they wait for 48hours before we travel to Tongariro to cancel the booking They are clearly not professional and need better customer service and communication skills. Not impressed

Country House B&B

Great Hostess

Reviewed By Climber811936

This B&B is located in the peaceful countryside away from the crowds of Pahia. There are several fruit trees on the property which are used by Julia (your hostess) for breakfast and beverages. The only sound you are likely to hear are birdsong and maybe a cow. The home is furnished with a blend of modern and antique pieces and several family mementos. The room was moderately sized but there was a closet with storage shelves and several hangers. the bed was quite comfortable. The bathroom was across the hall and there was both a good shower and bathtub there. it was supplied with a good variety of toiletries. The toilet was in an adjacent little room by itself. All of the above would be reason enough to stay here but it is Julia who is the real reason to choose this B&B. She is a very energetic woman and a charming hostess. We enjoyed our late afternoon chats with her on a wide range of topics and they were accompanied by the best homemade lemon drink I have ever had and the baked goods were great too. Julia goes out of her way to make her guests stay with her like a visit with a friend of the family. One evening she offered to do some laundry for us. When we returned after our day out we found our laundry neatly folded and ironed too!! Only you mother would do that for you! Breakfast was excellent too. We had tea, cereal, yogurt, a fruit and some baked item (the last two changed every day). So if good food and good company are the reason you like B&B's then you have to stay with Julia.

We stayed in the two roomed apartment in April 2022. The owners have made a reasonable effort to make it look a little less like a motel, and it is nicely decorated. The beds and pillows are excellent. On arrival you get free breakfast makings and a whole litre of milk, good for our five nights stay. There was coffee and tea, (organic fair trade) and the eggs for the breakfast were free range. There was however nothing without caffeine. Our cottage was wheelchair accessible, and the bathroom/shower was arranged to be that way also with grab bars in the shower and by the toilet. There are no bedside tables but large cupboards either side the beds with shelves in one where you can put your clothes, and hangers in the other. There is also a small shelf above the bed where you can put your glasses and what have you. The glassware, dishes and flatware are adequate if not exciting, however there is a full glass topped cooktop, and a combination microwave conventional oven, which means you could cook a full meal there if you wanted to. We found barbecue tools in one of the drawers. There is a cupboard with ironing board hairdryer and so on also. The cottage was heated and cooled with a heat pump which seemed very efficient. There is a wash house with washing machine and dryer. The place is set in some quite nice grounds, there are barbecues, a billiards table and some books available. You can sit outside on the deck if it's sunny and drink your tea. It is surrounded by farms and orchards, which may be a little noisy at times but we never heard anything the whole time we were there, when apple picking was going on. Nighttime was absolutely quiet, not even a car on the road that we ever heard. Best five nights' sleep we've ever had in a hotel I think. One of the reasons we liked it was its centrality. No more than 15 minutes away from the major provincial towns in the Hawke's Bay. A couple of small niggles but no real deal breakers – although the owner lady doesn't seem to believe in masks, which might be a problem for some. The test of a good place is if you would stay there again, and I definitely would.

We loved our stay at te awanga. The cottage was perfectly presented and had everything we needed. We had breakfast at hygge which is towards Cape kidnappers and was very popular. Then we hopped on our e-bikes and did the vineyards along the coast, heading down towards black barn. A great place to stay at a reasonable price. We will be back.

A beautiful home by the beach

I was fortunate to spend a whole week in Waihi Beach and I loved staying in the apartment by Peter and Karen's house. Their attention to detail is impeccable with lots of little extras - including fresh fruit and quality linen! They are working hard to ensure they operate with a light footprint, without compromising on their quality of service. The free use of bikes was an added bonus - there is some lovely easy riding right from the front door, along the coastline. Being located right by the beach made me feel instantly relaxed and I'd love to come again!

The Beachbox was brilliant in so many ways...we will be back. Steve and Lainey are perfect hosts and have hit a fine combination of accomodation ambiance, location and amenities. The accommodation was spotless and stylish. Nicely appointed bathroom. We stayed in the deluxe room with its private, tropical garden and outdoor relaxing, dining area. Having access to the bbq was helpful and the nearby butcher does wonderful sausages (recommend the mushroom and garlic!). We much enjoyed popping next door for wonderful coffee, gelato (Indian summer and feijoa, wow), slices and yummy bagels. Such convenience and you see the friendliness and professionalism of Lainey and Steve in action. They certainly know peoples names! Lastly what an amazing base for epic Northland (Te Tai Tokerau). Thank you Lainey and Steve.

The Moorings are two luxury studios located in an unbeatable spot towering over Matiatia Bay in Oneroa, Waiheke Island, New Zealand. Each of the identical studios have private decks and 180 degree breathtaking sea views looking over the bay, Rangitoto Island and back to Auckland. The studios are a perfectly romantic and private spot to enjoy spectacular sunsets, whilst still being so close to Oneroa's village, beaches and vineyards...

A great break!

Reviewed By Aussieflyers

We had a four night break here in Studio 1. Wonderful and much needed time away. Owners Sarah & Andrew were very accomodating. Beautiful views across the bay. Lots of time spent out on the deck enjoy the sunsets. We were luck to have generally sunny weather which was lovely to wake up to. The property is set directly behind where the ferry docks. A close but very steep walk up a dirt road about ten minutes. The town centre of Oneroa is about a 15/20 min walk away but that’s all relative. There’s a couple of ways to get there. Either uphill on the main road or via a couple of different walking tracks which we loved. Part of being in NZ is to enjoy the outdoors so the walk wasn’t a big deal to us. One tip would be, get whatever supplies you want during business hours as a lot is closed afterwards. We hired a car ($69) from the ferry terminal one of the days to check the island out. Re wineries…most are closed Mon-Wed. Wineries though like Cable Bay & Passage Rock we’re open 7 days. A great break, we’ll be back!
