The English guest house is situated right in the very centre of Ruse, Bulgaria. Turning right out of the gate it will take you literally 60 seconds to the tranquil banks of the River Danube (Dunav), turning left will again take literally 120 seconds to enter the main square. The Vibrant heart of Ruse city. On the ground floor there are 5 bedrooms all with air-conditioning and with en-suite bathrooms, and 2 Bedrooms sharing one bathroom. On the attic we have 2 bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and air-conditioning.On the ground floor we have a big apartment in wich 5 people can sleap, with two bathrooms. The rooms are a mix of doubles, twins, singles, as well as options for 3,4 and 5,6 people. All rooms have curtains as well as nets, double glazed windows are fitted with fly screens. Beds are comfortable, linen and towels are supplied free of charge. Showers are always piping hot. Each room has its own TV with cable channels. There are lamps, mirrors, wardrobes etc to make your stay with us enjoyable and give that feeling of being at home, which is something we work hard on to achieve. The garden has table with parasol and chairs allowing us all to sit and talk in the evenings with a hot or cold drink. Tea and coffee are supplied free of charge.Breakfast, which is included in the price is very rich and varied . We will do our very best to ensure your stay with us is trouble free, restful and enjoyable. There is a computer set up in the foyer which is for guest use.

Reviewed By shunra11In my 20 stays in bulgaria during a cycling trip this has definitely been the best stay. Vasil is a great host and offered to help with any need. the room is spacious and comfortable and the location is very close to the city Center.

Nice hotel, but parking could be a problem
Reviewed By mitza63This is more like a 3.5, but I gave it a rating of 4 due to the friendliness of the staff and because I didn't experience care damage. The good: Staff is very friendly and polite. Room was very clean and the furniture was new. Room size was a bit small but just enough to provide everything you need. Bed was comfortable and room had a nice design. Air conditioning worked great. The maybe: The windows of rooms facing the street and clubs are pretty sound proof, but you can still hear some noise from outside, especially since the rooms are on the 1st floor (2nd floor by Bulgarian numbering). So if you're a very light sleeper this could be a problem. Breakfast is pretty basic (which is normal, being a rather small hotel), but the coffee is good and they have Nutella :) The bad: Parking is a problem, especially on weekends. The hotel's reserved parking spots are just opposite a Night Club and very close to terrace clubs and on weekend nights lots of people are just hanging out right next to the cars. If you're concerned about potential scratches or damage to the car caused by broken bottles or brawls if they were to happen, then this situation will stress you out. In my case I did not encounter such car damage bad luck but it could have easily happened. The TV in the room only has analogue channels and none of them in English. This is a bit disappointing if there's ever any event you'd like to watch on TV. While the bed is comfortable and the room design quite nice, it's not as practical as I would have liked: there are no light switches or sockets next to the bed, the tiles on the bathroom floor are quite slippery when wet and there was no floor towel, the shower cabin was a bit small and you could accidentally hit the water faucet by mistake, water pressure in the shower was high which could make it go out the magnetic doors if the shower head was aimed at them by mistake.

Bad service and dirty rooms
Reviewed By mitovadanielWe were very excited to go to the Winery, however our experience is not so great, not to say disappointing. The room which is quite expensive was dirty (coffee cup on the bathroom floor, hairs. etc.), but the most irritating thing was the service. One of the waiters was eyes rolling at us for two consecutive nights at the restaurant, he was rude, wanted us to pay everything asap, instead of just putting it on the room, and was overall not contributing to a good experience. There were some waiters that were more kind and pleasant, but I guess we weren't "lucky". Another thing that was really shocking for us is that breakfast was included in the price and I got a toast with ketchup on one of the mornings - I think such a place can definitely do better. There is also a professional coffee machine, but they put a self-serve espresso machine in one of the corners with real coffee and real milk. We pointed out that the milk had gone bad on our second breakfast and they made us coffee form the good machine. Too bad though they did not change the bottle of milk and the next person used the same bad quality milk... The place is very beautiful, the view is amazing, but I would not repeat the experience. They should be offering a lot more, at least in terms of service, for such a place. Also, the bottles of their own wine they are selling there, are cheaper on their own online shop....

Good but skip breakfast
Reviewed By grantslessorA nice place and convenient for the centre of town. Clean, reasonably sized room. Friendly and helpful staff who spoke reasonable English. Only downside was breakfast which was of a very poor quality (cheap and in some cases borderline stale continental breakfast) which we skipped altogether on the second day despite having prepaid. Don’t let that discourage you though as good overall for the price.

Perfect Stay
Reviewed By GentlemanexplorerResidence House Ruse is mostly used by business travelers we learned. We came in the off-season for that and were amongst the only August guests. My friend and loved the place. The rooms were quiet, large, modern and very comfortable with great wifi. Air-conditioning was strong, which was good for the August heat. There's not much choice for breakfast but it was delicious, plus as much espresso as we wanted. All the staff spoke excellent English. There was even a nice outdoor area to sip a drink. You are about 1 block from the Danube and are very close to some excellent restaurants.The center of Ruse is about 7-8-minutes by foot. Parking was on the street but easy to find. After midnight, there is no reception, but the front door can be opened by key card.

Old world charm!!
Reviewed By Raja8888I’ve only recently made an effort to review my stays more consistently. I stayed one night here while I was traveling between Bulgaria and Romania back in March 2017. Sylvia was a doll! I don’t know if she still works there but I still remember her name and she hooked me up with a private taxi tour to the monastery nearby...efficient, direct, no fuss!! The hotel/room itself was outdated but I’d expected that based on online pics. That did not diminish the quality of my rest and pleasantness of my stay. Location is ideal for bus station, less than a few minutes leisurely stroll. It’s a bit further to downtown Ruse, about 15-20 mins at medium pace. The highlight of the hotel, besides Sylvia and staff is the attached restaurant. Delicious 2-3 course meals to be had for under $5 total!!! With locals in a smoked filled environment, gotta love the old school days. I hold my lodging experiences up against cosmo ruse every time, and have always been disappointed.
