Maasai Simba Camp

Maasai Simba Camp is in the heart of the Maasai country. The camp is 100% owned and managed by the Maasai tribe. The camp, nested in the deep acacia forest on the banks of the Kiboko River, was built by hand with a rustic charm. The camp is ideal for local safaris to Amboseli National Park and hike to Chyulu Hills. If you dreamed of walking with giraffes and zebras this is the place to realize your dream. It’s a perfect spot for people who love the outdoors. Activities include daily walking safari lead by the Maasai warriors, excursion to Amboseli National Park, meeting with Maasai elders and the women cooperative. Bookings are inclusive of full board (3 meals a day), walking safari in a pristine landscape and exclusive cultural experience with the Maasai. The camp has a 4x4 Safari vehicle with pop-up roof for easy wildlife viewing and photography. The Safari vehicle comes with additional fee. The camp sponsors a village school and health center.

Unforgettable cultural and natural experience with Masaai Simba Camp

Reviewed By Jelmer v

Simba Camp was a beautiful experience. The camp just looks beautiful, where huts and banda's are build between all the green(trees and bushes). We slept in a beautiful Banda with shower and toilet. We were very warm welcomed by the Masaai who run the camp. The nature walks during evening and morning make for an authentic experience, seeing wild animals from short distance (such as giraffes, zebra's, gerenuk and even a puff adder!!). Another authentic experience was our dialogue with the elders (Masaai). They gave us a true insight in the Masaai culture. Moreover a trip to the Amboseli park was well arranged. And besides all these wonderful experiences we loved the relaxing atmosphere at Simba camp. Learned to play Mancala from the staff and played rummicub with them. The food was amazing with everyday another menu. We cannot wait to get back!

The staff at the camp were really lovely and friendly. The pool was a hit with the kids as it was hot. Tents worked perfectly and being on the river so close to park entrance was ideal. We used a local guide from the camp whose English was passable but his skills were tip top and found tons of animals

Tumaini Gardens

Amazing place to stay in rural Kenya!

Reviewed By sandyg42

My mother, myself, and my 4 children stayed at Tumaini Gardens for 7 nights while participating in a mission trip. I cannot say enough good about our stay! The staff was an absolute delight, treating us with the typical Kenyan warmth and hospitality. They cleaned our rooms every day, folded our clothes, and did our laundry at no extra charge. The food was diverse, tasty, and fantastic! When there was a problem (like my shower’s hot water stopped working), or we needed something (more towels, an iron), they got on it immediately. The grounds were manicured and scenic, with beautiful gardens and a short walking trail. I would stay here again in a heartbeat! Tumaini Gardens management, please give an extra big pat on the back to your lovely staff!!

Saab Royale Resort

Most awful experience of my life

Reviewed By Mary_silver

This "resort" is simply awful. The issues start with management not being on site and none of the staff being empowered to make decisions. The "resort" is located 15-20km down a goat track. Do not take your own car down this road as it will do damage. Once at the resort most of the staff are poorly trained and have no idea how to deliver real service. We were also informed that there are extra charges to use certain facilities! The "resort" has no alcohol on premises and makes an offer to send someone to town to purchase for you. We did not follow this up but I am guessing the prices are ridiculous! The biggest issue overall with this is "resort" is the lack of food options. On the occasion we stayed we were informed (after arrival) the restaurant was only serving buffet style dinner. This option we were told was ridiculously priced and we observed the restaurant attempting to charge children adult prices! Further to the price the food was overcooked and inedible. We and others attending the resort complained and were given rude replies and were told it was a "management decision" and that the management was not available for a discussion. After this and many other instances we checked out at which time we were refused a refund and were held hostage at the exit gate until we cleared a bill we had refused to pay due to inedible food. This is one of the most poorly managed locations in Kenya. Steer clear at all costs! Tips if you still want to stay here : DO NOT pay at check in and bring your own food and drinks!
