Hotel lake cabin is picturesquely situated in a natural environment from the hustle and bustle of city life facing Lake built by king Parakramabahu the great 1000 years ago. The cabins of the hotel have been built overlooking the Lake. Lake Cabin is close to Polonnaruwa main city, Polonnaruwa sacred city, the museum and other ruins, it is convenient for anyone to explore the area. Further bird watchers and those who love wild animals should include this place on their must -do-list.
A beautiful place
Reviewed By Benjamin VWe stayed 2 nights at this lovely place, and spent a lot of this time simply sitting on the balcony, enjoying the nature around us, it was wonderful. It was a simple but lovely room, and the owner was always there to help us or bring us some food/drinks. You can easily take some bicycles to go to see the ruins in Polonnaruwa, and there is even one of the best restaurant in Polonnaruwa 5 minutes away. Definitley worth a visit if you stay 1-2 days in Polonnaruwa. With a little bit of luck, you could event have a wild elephant greeting you in the morning!

Reviewed By Stonepony20Friendly and welcoming family. Responded quickly to email query. Big room and own bathroom with shower. Comfy bed. Borrowed bikes from family to explore - great location for lake and ruins. Father and son speak English and happy to advise re best way to continue our journey. Mum is fantastic cook - and Dad did a wonderful lunch - huge feast for every meal. Highly recommend staying here.

A nightmare
Reviewed By Companion49648889951Worse place I have stayed. Linen not changed. The rooms have not been cleaned. There was a musty and a bad smell all throughout our stay. It was a real dump. Toilets fittings were broken and no water. Had dirt all over. Mosquitos all over the room. Lights, fan and AC did not work.

He is so kind - wrote down bus journey descriptions for us, gave great tips and let us shower in the afternoon after a long cycle even though we had checked out already! He has made my travels in Sri Lanka so far a very positive experience! Would definitely stay here again, thoroughly recommend it.

Reviewed By Eyes1234We arrived at the hotel late after getting the train, the hotel was a bit out of the town so we asked where we could eat. They managed to feed us in the restaurant, we had rice and noodles with beer which was so tasty! The room was ok, large beds and clean, the bathroom was a bit basic but the usual standard for Sri Lanka. They told us there was no time for breakfast so to just get up when we were ready. In the morning, there was a table set for us and breakfast was served. There was lots of wildlife around the hotel. The hotel owner organised us a tuk tuk to visit the ancient city and looked after our bags for us whilst we did that.

Reviewed By ikstynaOur stay there was excellent-clean and quite room, great delicious food home made by the owner (breakfast and dinner) The host is very kind and friendly man who helped us with anything we need to know. You can also rent bikes there and ride along the canal or use it to visit Polonaruwa ruins-very useful! And dont forget about the garden, its soooo green:)! You can see many animals there-birds, deers, squirrels and "watch out" monkeys which can visit you at the breakfast to take some fresh fruits from your table;)! Definitely highly remended!

The food was great and Chamyla and her family is doing her best for you to have a great stay and giving you tips for things to see around. The guesthouse is ideally located 500m from the Polonaruwa old ruins. They rent bycicles, which is the best way to discover the old ruins. The rooms are well equipped with AC and ceiling fan and the beds are big and comfortable. Bathroom is clean and nice. Great value for money! Bring a mosquito repellent though.

Lovely experience
Reviewed By Dantraveller1234The house is located in the best possible place, as it is next to the entrance to the old city. The hosts are really welcoming, they receive you with tea and fruit and they are always open to help you, making you feel at home. The dinner and breakfast are quite good and they rent a bike for you for a reasonable price. They also offer safaris, I did it and it was a fantastic experience. Thank you.
